We stayed in one of their cabins located within woods close to main hotel. All guests now have good buffet breakfast available, but hotel no longer provides dinner. Lovely lounge available with great views. Staff friendly and helpful. We ate at Askur pizzeria which serves local beers too. Hotel about 10 min drive to main town and 1 hr from Puffin viewing at Hafnaholim. There is a modern cafe there too. Recommend a visit to Fardagafoss about 5 min drive & 30 min walk to waterfall with amazing views across the town.
A microwave would be more useful than the stove top. Some shelving in the bathroom and a little more hanging storage would have improved things. Overall there was nothing we didn't like.

Maybe the best hotel we stayed at during our two-week road trip around Iceland! The room was comfortable and spacious, the location was good, and the staff were friendly. But the two things that stood out the most were the delicious breakfast that was way better than the other hotel breakfasts we’d had, and the fact that this hotel can do your LAUNDRY! On day 8 of our trip, this was clutch! And one load was only 2500 isk, which was a deal in our eyes to be able to leave the laundry while we explored.

Beautiful location just outside of town. It looked very picturesque in the snow. We were early for check in, so was invited to have a coffee and relax in the lounge room which was nice and cosy showing views of the snow falling. This felt nice and welcoming from the staff. Tea and coffee making facilities in room and a nice hot shower. The hot tub and happy hour made the stay even better.
Was under the impression I booked a different room with an outside balcony area but was not given this.

It's so beautiful, wish we had more than one night there. It's very cosy. Very peaceful and everything you need to accommodate your stay is in the cabin. I want to come back and stay longer.
When it snows a lot, there is no clear way to get to the cabin when driving to it. The paths are not cleared up to help guests navigate an uncertain terrain.

We had a cabin for 2 people. The outside was charming but the inside was bare bones and basic with no charm. Even though breakfast was included it was way too expensive at $360. We expected more for that price. One positive was they had a huge lounge on the 2nd floor with several seating areas and a tv.
Too expensive for what you got.

Beautiful location. It was like a winter wonderland from the moment we arrived. Kettle in the room was great and staff were the most friendly we have encountered. The breakfast was delicious and again the best we have had. You can make waffles and it includes hot scrambled egg, sausages & beans. Plus cake.
The room was really basic. Would have been fab with a tele and a fridge but for what we paid we weren’t complaining for the one night. The location made up for it.

The cabins were very cute and they were close together. The beds were comfy and the room was warm enough, even without the extra radiator they kindly offered. The location in under the trees was brilliant, outside town so minimal traffic but close enough for a dinner run. Staff were knowledgeable and helpful.
The cleaning could maybe have been a bit more thorough, there were several dead bugs around and under the beds was dusty with bits of small debris around. The freezer in the minifridge didn't work, not the end of the world but still a bit of a bummer.

The hotel is located far from the city near a lake. It is quite and beautiful. Rooms are not big but clean. Kettle is avaialble in rooms. Breakfast is delicious. It has a restuarant with good local dishes.
The bathroom has ligh sensors which switch on/off too quickly and do not cover the whole bathroom space.

We were booked to stay in a "cottage" but when we arrived we found there was an unpleasant smell in the accommodation possibly due to the previous occupants. The owner of the hotel was very helpful and moved us to a room in the annex of the hotel with a complimentary breakfast to make up for our disappointment. Breakfast was actually very good with lots of choice. The hot tubs were also good to relax in at the end of the day.
We found our room was very hot with no controls to adjust the temperature. I think it had underfloor heating because everything we left on the floor got hot.

The onsite restaurant was closed without notification prior to checkin. There are limited food options in Egilsstadir after 6pm and it was a bit frustrating to not be notified when this is marketed as a selling point for the hotel and the closure was expected.
