I really liked staying here. It was fun and it felt like we had traveled back in time. The house could use some maintenance but I still really enjoyed it. I imagined all the people that lived here back in the day and how wonderful that must have been. The beds and linens were comfy and the shower was very old fashioned with a plastic wrap around curtain but I really loved it all. The water was warm and good pressure. The breakfast was a simple continental but served really beautifully. A beautiful crescent and a small bowl of pretty cut up fruit and a variety of jams and coffee and juice. Not a huge breakfast but very pretty and tasty. Even though I usually eat more I wouldn't have changed it. We enjoyed walking around the house and at night even walking around the adjoining neighborhood. You can get a massage but we didn't. There is also a bar where you can get drinks. We did eat dinner on the grounds and it was okay. I wouldn't eat dinner there if I wasn't staying as a guest. They do offer paid tours. When we first arrived we did get to peak in some of the other rooms before they were locked. It did make me think the tour would be enjoyable.

There were little things I could complain about but I realize it's hard and expensive to maintain a very old place like that so I make allowance for that and just enjoyed the experience. If I want perfection I should stay at a new hotel.

the staff, both at front desk and at dinner and breakfast service were delightful, very professional and friendly and made the world of a difference. big thumbs up for the way they do their jobs. made my stay

I understand that this is a historical sight but the bed in the room I stayed in was too narrow, uncomfortable and creaking. Overall, I do know it’s part of the parcel of keeping the stay authentic, but comfortable it was not. nevertheless, the experience made up for it :)

Love the Castle, so Beautiful and well kept. Breakfast was okay, we ordered to our room at 8:30am by 8:45am I had to go find someone to ask where our food was. They brought it up about 20 mins later. We ordered eggs over easy, bacon and wheat toast. We got sour dough bread, NO BACON and our eggs were over medium. Yogurt parfait, crescent roll and a bowl of fruit. But over all it was a decent stay at The Castle!

No other beverages in the room. Would of loved to have something different. Some people can’t stand to drink water. And only a bathtub in the room. But overall a decent stay.

The staff was fun and accommodating. Even if that mostly was them just giving us plenty of space to relax. We really appreciated their enthusiasm and effort to make our visit fun and chill. Thank you, the ones in the front and to those in the back we didn't see cooking or cleaning or doing whatever to help make our stay that much more enjoyable. Thank you. Though some other guests talked of rumored ghost stories, we personally had nothing but welcoming good vibes from the whole place. The whole set up is fun. The wine tasting was fun. AND DINNER WAS DELICIOUS. The chef really treated everyone that dined the same evening as us. In my opinion, the steaks are worth the trip alone. The tour was nothing big or too bothersome but the whole place was just fun. It's like being allowed to roam around in a big kids' tree-house. Or maybe it's just what it looks like, inside some artistry stranger's Victorian home full of historically creative decorations along with plenty of Grandma's hoarded attic treasures. Traveler's Note: Worth visiting or calling ahead maybe to make sure you're getting what you're requesting via third party booking sites just to save the hassle if a room with or without AC is gonna ruin or stay or if the room requested isn't at that location as advertised but actually at their sister location miles away. But like I stated at the start, the staff was accommodating.

Jamie, Mark and just every staff member were kind, fun and all around wonderful. This is my second time visiting, first over night. Highly recommend this beautiful peaceful place. In between Christmas and New Year's my daughter took me there for wine tasting, message, steam room, dinner and tour. I loved it. Our tour guide was the same front desk lady that I had when we stayed last night. She was so good on the tour my daughter and I were so happy she decided to do the all events for my Christmas gift! I was thrilled to take my best friend to stay for her Birthday. We definitely will be back!

Despite the bad comments people had made, our experience at Herderson Castle was great, the staff was friendly and helpful with great communication, the check-in was smooth, everything was ready at our arrival. The room was fine, I loved the vintage decorations throughout the premises but my favorite thing of all was the food, we made dinner reservation and everything was so delicious from appetizers to desserts I also recommend do the breakfast upgrade. I wish I could stay another night but it was booked up but definitely will return in the near future.

Food takes a bit longer to get because is made at the moment you order but is worth the wait.

I am the founder of Mystic Chics Paranormal. My colleagues and I were there to see if we could find any truth to the stories of the castle. We did our interviews and were greeted with kindness and respect. Just as we hope we gave to them. It was a beautiful home and I could just imagine the parties and the way people lived back in the late 1800's. I would like to thank Justin, the greeter and front desk clerk. He stayed after his shift to give us a little tour and some stories of what was going on. We got a little history and since I am an empath medium I was able to pin point a few historical events without information. So thank you Justin for your time. We appreciate it immensely, and hope to come and visit again. Thank you

the steps, I have bad knees and I have been in pain for the last 36 hours. But other than that. No complaints. love the castle.

Very pet friendly. Our dog was welcome and able to be with us at breakfast. It is a beautiful old building. Breakfast was simple but yummy. Everyone was helpful in getting our luggage up and down the stairs to our room.

The bed was not comfortable. There was a memory foam topper that was too soft. You sank in so far that it was almost impossible to move or roll over. When you are over 70 that becomes a problem. It would be important for people to know that there is no elevator and many stairs. Rooms are up a long set of steps. We had help with luggage but it was a challenge.

The property is stunning, and the castle was beautiful. There is plenty to do at the Castle and lots of places to just sit and relax for the day. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The massage was amazing and the two who did our couples massage did a great job. Loved the rooftop hot tub, that was a nice added treat. The bartender was great and very knowledgeable, enjoyed talking with him. Gabby our server for tea and dinner was amazing, so friendly and helpful.

We had booked several things to do at the castle and everyone seemed so disorganized, and everything was running behind. We booked the wine tasting and charcuterie board and was never offered the charcuterie board because they forgot, so that was disappointing. I felt like there were many missed opportunities to make a guest's stay more memorable. Compared to other bed and breakfasts I have stayed. The breakfast was marginal was expecting a little more and not a lot of attention to detail. The staff did a great job and the Castle is amazing just not a lot of special touches like at other bed and breakfast places.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We traveled to Michigan for my oldest son’s college graduation and rented three rooms at the castle. The staff was so accommodating when I asked them to help set up some special graduation decorations for our breakfast. I have to say the rooms in the house are absolutely beautiful… Stunning in all their decor for the different countries represented! The only disappointment was the cottage A room that myself and my husband stayed in… Unfortunately, it seems to be more of an afterthought compared to the rooms in the main home. But even with the issues we experienced in the cottage, the staff immediately jumped in to make things right. It just desperately needs some updating to get it to the standards of the rest of the home. But we will definitely be back, hoping to come back for a murder mystery dinner!
