Beautiful hotel right on the river with a view that is memorable. The rooms were luxurious, the bed super comfortable, the breakfast delicious and the staff so friendly and attentive. We felt pampered the whole time and loved being just a walk away from good winery and dinner options (although we ate one night at the hotel and loved their dinner as well).

Felt like going back to a fine old world experience. Classic, elegant. The surrounding Douro Valley is spectacularly beautiful.

Some of the reviews indicated this hotel may be a bit tired. It wasn't... it was very smart and tidy, full of great vistas and lovely period features. The location is fab, right on the river side and with really beautiful gardens. The views from the restauarnt, bedroom and breakfast terrace were all lovely. The bedroom (No. 123) was right over the middle of the hotel and above the restaurant (but very quiet). The room was a good size with a large bed. The bathroom was very pleasant and pretty but would have benefitted from a walk-in shower rather than the old style over the bath. The hotel is on the quay and so there is some hustle and bustle from the boats, but this was no big deal. The pool was lovely, with plenty of sunbeds. There is also a small bar next to the pool. We played tennis twice and whilst the court needed a sweep and the net needed fixing, it was great fun and a rare treat we didn't expect. Breakfast was very nice and the terrace view was beautiful. We had dinner in the pretty restaurant terrace on the first night. It was tasty, and scores 8 out of 10. Staff were eager, but a bit inexperienced. Food was great in some parts and trying hard without hitting the spot in others; so good, just not awesome. We made the mistake of not pre booking wine tours, but despite this Antonio in reception was a great help with booking a last minute wine tour. He also helped with restaurant recommendations - he was very helpful. A great hotel - I strongly recommend it.

I thought this hotel was great and I would definately go back and I probably will. one or two staff where a bit on the brusk side, they weren't 'charming' and should have been for a hotel like this (training needed). Giving a welcome drink is a nice touch, until you are told its just port, this is so outdated - its better to not give it or state it is port. This annoyed me. Bathroom needs a walk-in shower rather than a bath over the shower. Tennis court was nice, but needed sweeping (even when there was a leaf blower being used and we had asked, no-one came and did it). Net also needed repairing. Small points - great hotel.

Great property with lots of wood finishing, old photos and prints. Our view from our room was fabulous, loved watching all the boats.There was a window overlooking the bedroom from the bathroom but only a small magnifying mirror in the bathroom. Replace the window with a decent mirror! Breakfast was great, main dining room had limited menu and very expensive ( Canadian dollars!). Library bar was great with great sandwich menu and friendly staff . We were recommended one of the boat tours which we took but in retrospect it was better to go look at all the boats and pick one with better views- some of the traditional Robela boats have a high bow so you don’t see anything dead ahead, just looking out the sides

Excellent location in Pinhao with a view overlooking the Douro and its boat moorings. Breakfast buffet was very good as was the ability to sit on the porch overlooking the river. Rooms were spacious and well appointed. Concierge services were OK.

The concierges were working with a pre-organized list of quintas (wineries and vinyards),restaurants to visit and boat tours. I would have appreciated more individuality and proactivity. The elevator was broken during our stay; ordinarily not a problem but one of our party was recovering from surgery, so it was a bit inconvenient.

The location of The Vintage House couldn't be more stunning or perfect if you're looking to stay in the Douro Valley. Our room had a view of the pool and river and would absolutely recommend that if possible because it felt truly magical to open the balcony doors and be met with such a stunning view every day. Our few days we spent at The Vintage House were some of our favorite days from our week-long trip in Portugal. The pool area was amazing and it truly felt like a vacation to lounge by the pool with the view of the river and vineyards while reading a book and drinking an Aperol Spritz! The staff were all very nice and the breakfast each morning had an incredible spread and it was lovely to eat our breakfast on the breakfast room balcony overlooking the beautiful view. The town of Pinhao has some great restaurants and vineyards and there is plenty to do in the area. We took the train from Porto there and found it to be a very easy and comfortable travel experience! We recommend hiking from the bottom of the river all the way up to the top to the Casal de Loivos viewpoint. It's not an easy walk up, but the view is worth it and there is a wine and olive oil tasting restaurant and museum at the top with the most incredibly view and we had a lovely time there.

Had my eye on this place for a while and was happy to book here when our trip finally came. Luxury feel and very nice place. Loved the balcony for coffee. Would like a normal size mirror in the bathroom for styling/drying hair instead of a two way window. Room was very stuffy and hot, and the AC does not work in March. So we had to sleep with the windows open which was very cold and wet with dogs barking all night. Just something to be aware of if you find you run hot. Also loved that it was easy walking location to BomFim and Carvalheas as well as the boat dock.

I can't imagine a better hotel than The Vintage House in the Douro Valley! This property is wonderful in every way, from the location, staff, daily breakfast overlooking the Douro river, and the restaurant terrace with an equally fantastic setting. And our room!!! We were in Suite 310, which was the largest and most lavish hotel room I've probably ever stayed in. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone and make sure you book a room with a balcony overlooking the river.

Staff were extremely helpful. The hotel is beautifully decorated and very comfortable with armchairs and sofas inside and comfortable chairs outside. The restaurant is also lovely BUT TOO DARK we almost couldn't read the menu. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. The parking is free but there's not a huge amount of it so could be problem in the peak season.

We had some difficulty finding the hotel, as usual the sat nav was confused by the post code. Maybe the hotel could provide some kind of electronic map.

Location overlooks the River and close to town and station. Fantastic gardens, pool and changing rooms.

Lack of shower gel, shampoo, tea, milk, in the room. No bathrobes in room but understood you could request. There was a tablet in our room that didn’t work. Not enough plugs for kettle, coffee machine and hair dryer - kept having to unplug
