The staff is nice and friendly, the rooms are clean, bed is comfy. Didn't have any problem with the "open" shower or the automatic lights in the bathroom, as I was travelling alone. Some reviews mentioned "hospital-like" vibe, but I didn't get it at all, and I've been to a bunch of hospitals alright 😁 The hotel is modern and cozy, with great accessibility options as far as I can tell, like bars in the bathroom and alarm cord, and big doors (I didn't use/need them, but it's nice that they're there). The walk to city centre is pleasant and takes about 20 minutes.

Sometimes there was some noise in the hallway near my room late in the evening, but it was momentary and didn't last. Also some tea/coffee amenities would be nice, but it was not a big feal for me as I only stayed two nights. Also no temperature control in the room, but it was just fine in early may, so wasn't really a problem for me.

The staff we incredibly accommodating when combining our two bookings, we had previously booked two nights here but we were a day ahead of schedule so booked another on booking.com. The staff didn’t seemed fazed by this and managed to combine our bookings in the system so that we weren’t disturbed during our staff. I wasn’t expecting them to facilitate this change however I was very pleased of how they did 👌we were travelling on bikes and we managed to get spaces in the underground carpark. We fit both bikes easily in one space and you could fit four fully loaded adv or touring bikes in a space. And we were happy to see plenty of cctv cameras dotted around the carpark too. On the subject of motorcycle parking, there is good amount of paved space out the front of the hotel, where there were a couple of bikes there for the duration of our stay also if your happy to leave them out side

Nordic design, simple yet comfortable. I love those 2 large windows when we first opened the door! Feels so relaxing! Just a 15-20 mins walk to the old town and you can reach most of the historical places. Parking garage is available costs €15 per day, provided by the hotel. Or you can choose to park at street right next to the hotel but it charged per minute and not cheap.

Our room is good for disabled, spacious shower room, and the toilet is too high which both of our feet could not even reach the floor, hence every time we sit there, really not comfortable to go for our "number two"😅😅 Electric bending beds provided like the hospital, thought it feels good but not, the bed is a little bended no matter how you made it to a normal position. We both had a back pain on every single morning.. Daily cleaning is disappointed, even our dirty wet towels were still left on the ground after the daily cleanings. 😔 No kettle and cups provided, but I went down to borrow one which is lucky as they only got one left in the reception. Towels, shower and shampoo and toilet paper are provided, other than that, bring your own needs. But still highly recommend,

Quiet location and very comfortable, clean and spacious room. When checking in, the front desk noticed from my passport that it was my birthday. They left a very kind note and complimentary drinks in our room, plus cake at breakfast. Several staff members mentioned my birthday. It was very much appreciated, what a thoughtful gesture. The garden area was a great place to have a drink and play some cards. A good selection at breakfast, even something for vegans (although no soya milk, but I hadn't asked in advance and I'm sure the hotel would have arranged it had I done so). The carpark facilities were great, secure, underground with access into the hotel. Important for us as we travelled by motorbike. It's about a 15 minute walk before you reach the outskirts of the centre of Ghent, perfect for us as far enough so it was quiet at night but close enough to walk.

The weather was very hot when we were there (high 20s/30) and there is no air con in the bedroom. However, there was already a fan in our room and it was a very effective, tall, oscillating one which did the job just fine. The bathroom is a wet room, not my personal favourite but it was well set up and fine for a couple of nights. The door to the bathroom is glass with privacy frosting not reaching the very bottom or top, so a little bit odd, depending on who you're sharing a room with! Still, all very clean and spacious. There was no hand soap in our dispenser, I forgot to ask for it to be filled and we just used the shower gel dispenser instead, easy given the wet room set up!

I chose mainly for location. We were visiting our daughter who lives a few blocks away.

We have used Den Briel a number of times. The hotel is very near St Lucas hospital and the bathrooms throughout the hotel cater to the handicapped/wheelchair bound. That's great if that's what you need. But there is no separation between toilet and shower, so immediately after a shower it is wet near the toilet. Not a deal breaker but wonder if they could have some rooms that did not do that for other, non-handicapped guests or perhaps a movable curtain to limit the splashing.

Good in all respects, except value for money.

The price. At that price of over €200, per person, per night; it should have included breakfast (which is entirely buffet style) and parking. We are used to a kettle and tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Perhaps a good thing for European 3 stars to consider and include .

A very plush hotel in a superb location for easy walking access to the stunning city of Ghent. Large room with plenty of space - though I note i was put in an accessible room so the extra space likely related to wheelchair access (which benefitted me). I rode a motorcycle there, and it offers underground and very secure parking - albeit at a cost. However, I could use the parking the whole of the next day so could visit the city before leaving. Being on a bike also meant I was not subjected to the local LEZ for which your car has to be registered and approved. I used the gym, which had a very good range of equipment. Breakfast was well stocked and relatively good for the money. Staff were very helpful both on check-in and check-out.

The hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff was really nice, and the room and bathroom were really spacious. The location is perfect cause it is just 20 minutes walking from the center, so it’s nice and quiet around the hotel. The parking is €15 a day and is just next to the hotel. Plus, it was my birthday and they surprised us with a bottle of wine in the fridge, a really nice and appricated gesture. We definitely suggest this hotel!

The location is perfect. 15 minutes walk to the downtown of Ghent. The room is clean and big since this is a care hotel where people from hospital could stay. The location is near the hospital. The reception were friendly! They have their own parking place.

The shower doesnt have curtain so when you take shower water will be everywhere. The fridge doesnt work. I have called the reception they told me doesnt have to do anything but it was not cold at all. There is no tea or coffee maker in the room. Such a pity when you have 3 star hotel, i have expected to have it in the room.

Good location and 15 min walk into town Centre. Typical breakfast and plentifull. The tram stops outside the hotel and is roughly 15 min ride into the centre. It's worth buying a city ticket if you're staying for 2 or more days. Gives you free access into all attractions, free tram, bus and canal rides.
