Ghent is a fantastic place to visit. It's unfortuneate that on our visit there are major construction works taking place adjacent to the hotel. That said its location was really good for gaining access to city

My drive into Ghent had been fraught; there were many roads closed and many diversions to navigate. The Sat Nav wasn't very useful. So on arrival in reception I was disapointed in the minimal help received from reception in locating the nearest long stay car-park. I'd suggest that the hotel provide a very simple sketch for future visitors.

-The general refurbishing of the building is quite amazing -The room feltt very cozy, like at home -The location is as good as it gets - Beautiful breakfast room, with very good food.

We had one of the larger rooms in the older part of the building, under the roofs, wich come with challenges... - Ventillation : Ventilation was not great (+ A/C not working) so the bathroom was a bit smelly and stayed damp longer than needed. - Light : since it was inthe old roof, ther was only one window; so little natural light, which w understand. But the artificial light in the old room was also not enough. - TV: we were surprised that there were no belgian french speaking channels available. French channel were available, but being in belgium and being from belgium, i owuld have expected local french channel to be available.

Stunning location - the room looked out over the river. Loved the glass of cava on arrival Very central to the main tourist area - but quiet and undisturbed Lovely view from the breakfast room on the third floor. Excellent selection for breakfast Staff helpful and attentive

The only negative I have relates to booking a taxi to return from the hotel to the station. On the way in I picked up a taxi from the rank and the charge was 11 euros. For ease I decided to book a taxi for the return. Pick up was great on time no issues. He asked whether it would be cash or card and I replied either (rookie error). So we decided cash. On arrival at the station drop off appeared to be not quite in the right location the charge was 30 euros. I thought he said 13 at first which would have been more than fine - but no he said 30! The difference in the two rates was somewhat surprising - the signage within the taxi was the same as on the way in, so my expectation was of a similar price. This was somewhat disappointing as the taxis driver was obviously know to hotel staff.

My room which overlooked the river was spacious, very clean and very well equipped. I really enjoyed the room. The common areas like lobby, lounge/bar and breakfast room with terrace were inviting. The reception staff were very friendly, professional and helpful. Breakfasts were fantastic. One of the best spreads I’ve experienced in ten plus years travelling in France, Spain and Portugal. The hotel was centrally located in relation to places in the historic centre that I wanted to visit.

I liked everything but some towel racks in the bathroom would make a modern and otherwise well fitted out bathroom even better.

Customer service. Exceeded our expectations. Even with air conditioner down, the room was cool with large standing fan that was delivered to our room. With the inconveniences they gave us free bkfst, upgraded room with a river view, sauna room , unlimited water and snacks from room, for all 4 days of our stay. Compliments especially to Raphael at front desk fir going the extra mile to make our stay comfortable and the easy transfers provided by Atlas! We will be back to this hotel. Highly recommend

Nothing even with air conditioner down . That’s saying alot.

We stayed in a stunning suite on the first floor of the 15th-century mansion, part of the Ghent River Hotel, which combines this historic building with a 19th-century rice mill. The room’s original beams, floors, and canopy bed created a regal, medieval castle-like atmosphere. The included breakfast was exceptional, offering a delicious variety of breads, cheeses, jams, eggs, and sausages. The hotel’s central location in Ghent made it easy to explore nearby attractions.

Everything was perfect - I wish we could have stayed longer.

The location is so convenient for the older charming streets and houses. There are lovely cafes and restaurants close by and is an easy walk into the cathedral area in the center of the city. The room looking out on to the canal was magical, with wooden beamed ceiling. The breakfast was a delight. The room is on the top floor and has light coming in on 3 sides. Its large and so doesn't feel crowded no matter how many are there. There was a large area of breakfast items to choose from, breads, cheeses, cooked eggs, bacon, sausage, cold meats, fruit, juices and coffee. Lovely quality too, very tasty. For every member of the family there will be lots of choose from.

The location. Very close to the underground car park at Vrijdagmarkt, a short walk. There were lots of spaces even during the Christmas market and on a Friday night in minus 3 level. So happy. It was easy to check in. Room was very clean and comfortable, The breakfast was served in the top floor in a glassy airy room with 270 degree views. The staff were very pleasant and efficient. The breakfast was good, a nice well presented selection of food to accommodate all tastes. It was winter, but in warmer weather there was a terrace where which would be a beautiful area to sit and eat and drink to look at the view. Again the location made it very easy to walk to all the major historic city sights. Many restaurants and bars nearby. Our room (317) was nice and large with a double aspect. Overall very happy.

Unfortunately our room on the top floor, a modern looking extension, had very thin walls. So much so we could hear people coughing and talking in the next room. I had a relaxing bath and could every word spoken by two ladies nearby in a separate room. The walls or celiling felt like it was paper thin. This definitely was not good and unexpected. I have stayed in hotels regularly for over 20 years and this is not happened to me for a long time. This was not pleasant when you were trying to relax. Secondly, we realised that we were very close to the breakfast room, so at 6.45am on the Saturday morning, I heard bangs and setting up noises being made in that room. It was impossible to relax and go back to sleep. Not what you want when you have paid to come away for a relaxing stay.

Location and place are great, close to the city center and places with good food. Beautiful view from the window to the channel. Cozy and clean room. Very quite. Nice and friendly staff.

There were small things - you have a heater in a bathroom but cord is way too short to get to the socket. When we came heating in the room was also off, so it took some time to get it to the normal temperature. There were three of us, but supplies were always for two.

Very good location, just round the corner from the main sites and also just by the river. The rooms were clean with original features of the building. The breakfast selection was also great albeit pricey.

Unfortunately our room was right under the restaurant so you can hear them setting up for breakfast early in the morning. Generally you can hear people in the room next to you sneezing, coughing and talking which was disruptive.
