We were lucky to end up with a private bathroom instead of a shared one - I could see it was not the nicest of their rooms/bathrooms but more than we expected so a very welcomed surprise! The room had extra pillows, a fan, and a mosquito net in one of the windows. Late self check-in was easy, staff was very nice and helpful, and the 12€ buffet breakfast was good namely considering Belgium prices. Reception and breakfast room nicely decorated.

The lock on our room had a problem so multiple times we had to struggle for minutes to get in, after the reception closed. Hope they have fixed that. It's an old-looking room, smallish, high step to the tiny bathroom, but nothing worth complaining about! The bathroom wasn't even booked and as for the room just wish the curtains blocked the light more but to be honest that's always expected. We stayed in Antwerp, Ghent, and Bruges and this was the most expensive stay but the unexpected "upgrade" was worth it.

The location of the hotel was superb, 5 minutes walk to the centre of this amazing city. We found the hotel to be perfect for a short stay. The breakfast was great and our rooms were more than adequate. It had a really nice atmosphere and all the staff we had contact with were really helpful and friendly. For us this place was perfect for a short stay. If we ever go back to ghent we would definitely stay again.

Central location. The view was good from our room at the front of the hotel. It should be remembered that the hotel is currently being done up.

No tea making facilities in the room. No hot water in bedroom hand basin. Similarly, there is no hot water in the toilet hand basin, which makes shaving a problem. The room could have been vacuumed to Pike up grub

Hotel is very welcoming, always warm, traditional old Ghent building..real sense of history, perfect if you appreciate fascinating old buildings.

Well unfortunately the sewers on the street outside were being replaced and causing a very soiled road surface to take into the building on footwear....I didn't mind the noise but some might... apparently another couple of weeks to complete.

The room was small but enough for two since it was a budget room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a cute vibe and is within walking distance to the center, which was great! Was initially worried that the toilet would be dirty since it was shared, but it was clean.

We didn't have blankets as it got cold in the night. There also wasn't a clothes rack ( but had hangers) so didn't really have a space to hang our clothes.

Loved it. A pleasant surprise. Central location could not be better. Safe free unlimited parking a short tram ride away. Attractive, clean en suite room, affordable well stocked breakfast priced reasonably at E12. A charming European style building with good modern upgrades..No elevator. Staff very helpful. I absolutely would stay again.

I have no complaints. Those expecting an American style hotel may be disappointed. Any seasoned traveler would be happy here.

The location is perfect: you can have a night walk through the charming city center without a need to use public transport and/or taxi – that definitely worth it. Everything else is also nice: the room was clean, the hotel itself is cosy, the checkin is automated, the staff is very friendly. I'll highly likely choose this hotel again the next time I visit Ghent (and oh my god, I'll visit it for sure).

Mostly nitpicking. Info for allergic people: rooms' floors are covered with carpet so if you are allergic to dust (like my sister) that could matter. But they were clean anyway, we had no problems. Also, there's no view – in case you need one.

the view was stunning, the staff very welcoming at the reception, Very quiet at night so the sleep was ideal and the best thing was definitely the location. Very easy to reach and handy if you was to explore the main sightseeing of the city.

The room was not isolated at all. You could hear everything from the nearest rooms either besides your room or downstairs. It was kinda annoying, especially in the morning. There was a bit of dust on some of the room's furnitures. The bin was not emptied from the previous host, I guess.

I red some of the poor reviews - I was pleasantly surised. This place was fine. Not a luxury hotel but an old fashioned boutique hotel run by Betty Bijoux

Need lighter weight blankets- room isn’t air conditioned so it was warm in July and I only had a heavy duvet- not even a light weight sheet.

The hotel serves its primary purpose well. If you’re not paying for five stars, there’s no reason to expect caviar for breakfast or luxurious rooms. The staff is very friendly and does their best to make your modest stay more comfortable and cozy. With a good location and a decent breakfast, it’s a suitable option for a short stay in this beautiful little town.
