Most hotels do a buffet breakfast that can be indifferent . Not the Comic Art. This was one of the best hotel breakfasts we have had. Varied, fresh, friendly staff and cooked to order choices meant a variety of opportunities to try something new. The staff friendly and caring. When we asked for things they went out of their way to help. Things were done promptly and effectively . We are both of an age when some physical infirmity can be expected . We were offered a choice of rooms to find one that best met our needs, and this was prepared by the receptionist Joanna while we were out at dinner. Exceptional service .

It would have been difficult to better this. Our only niggle was a lack of clothes storage space in the room, but th hotel offered a load of extra coat hangers to mitigate that. As it is by a canal there were some biting insects, but when we commented on getting bitten, the hotel produced an anti-mosquito device!

I strongly recommend this great hotel because I felt safe, treated like a princess and oh my Gosh this is my place. Convenient to the center, so quiet in the night when you do not want to hear a noise, the employees are amazing and always with a good suggestion, a solution.. a smile! Since the moment I booked I felt I was in the right spot. Rooms and bathrooms: big, new, the showers products are first quality, the cleaning is impeccable and - which, for me is a must-have: no rugs or moquette. Air is clean, decoration are unique (comics based, you will love them), every room is different and every floor is based on a comics story. Thank you! One more thing: breakfast - I did not have but I had a look at the offer: very good!

All was perfect!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Comic Art Hotel in Ghent, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was captivated by the vibrant atmosphere that perfectly blends artistic flair with a cozy, welcoming vibe. The decor is truly a highlight, featuring incredible comic art that adds a unique charm to every corner of the hotel. Each room is thoughtfully designed, creating a fun and playful environment that feels both comfortable and inspiring. I especially appreciated the attention to detail—everything from the quirky wall art to the neatly placed amenities made my stay feel special. The staff at the hotel were fantastic. They were not only friendly and welcoming but also incredibly helpful, offering great recommendations for local attractions and dining options. Their enthusiasm for the city and the hotel really enhanced my experience. Additionally, the hotel’s location is perfect. It’s within walking distance of many of Ghent’s top sights, making it easy to explore the city. Me and my girlfriend loved wandering through the nearby streets, discovering charming cafes and beautiful architecture. Overall, I highly recommend the Comic Art Hotel to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable stay in Ghent. Whether you’re a comic book fan or just looking for a fun place to rest your head, this hotel offers something truly special. I can't wait to return!

We loved this hotel! The location is great -- walkable to everything in Ghent. (The castle is only 5 minutes away!) The staff is wonderful; they were so helpful throughout our stay. They even got us checked in and into our room early, which was much appreciated after our overnight flight from the US. The breakfast was fantastic -- fresh breads and jams, fresh cut fruit, pancakes, yogurt, and more (including omelets and eggs to order). We stayed in one of the family rooms, and it was very spacious -- perfect for the 4 of us. (But note, the shower is all glass and doesn't have a door, which a family with teens or modest kids might not love.) The beds were comfortable, and even though our room faced the street, it was never overly loud. (Though we used a sound machine at night.) Overall, we highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again!

Nothing -- we loved it!

This hotel was perfect for us, in a quiet pretty location next to a canal, yet only a couple of minutes walk to the castle. The comic book theme is a brilliant idea, both stylish and fun. We enjoyed looking through some of the books in the bar over some great local beers recommended by the hotel founder, who also gave us lots of tips and advice about the city. The room was spacious and modern, and the staff friendly and welcoming. So much nicer and more interesting than a chain hotel. Thoroughly recommended!

Nothing we didn’t like

The hotel was in a very nice and convenient location just a stones throw from the main restaurants and shops. It was clean and modern inside with a very nice bathroom. The staff were extremely helpful and gave us some great recommendations for where to eat. Secure lockers to store luggage before leaving Gent.

If I was to pick the hotel apart I would say that the room was a little on the small side with not much room for luggage. The lighting situation was also a little inconvenient and maybe should have been explained better. Essentially all of the lights were controlled from the AC panel, we didn't realise this until the morning which meant when we went to the toilet in the middle of the night we were turning the whole room lighting on.

Comic Art hotel is one of the best we’ve ever stayed in. Great proximity to the centre. Really near the beautiful castle. The staff were exceptional, particularly the reception lady who greeted us. All very friendly and helpful. Great recommendations for food etc. Ghent is a stunning city and well worth a visit. This hotel is a quirky and friendly place to stay.

We had a twin room. It was clean and a good space. The beds were not trad single beds though. More like a child’s size bed. But they were very comfy. And everything was exceptionally clean.

We had a wonderful week here. We came for a conference and sightseeing, and we enjoyed being close to the city centre but still on a quiet street. The hotel was beautifully decorated and staff were kind.

The location of the hotel, while quiet and close to the old town, was kind of far from the train stations so we ended up taking Ubers to the train in order to see other Belgian cities. The hotel is in a beautiful old building, but that means the walls can be thin and I was woken up in the early morning by other guests in the hallway a few times.

Beautiful old house on a canal in view of the castle but a modern interior. We loved the graphic art. Room was comfortable with a fridge, a little table and chairs for us to have snacks in our room and even a bottle opener for the Belgian beers we bought from the supermarket. Close to area of atmospheric old houses on cobbled lanes. Really good buffet breakfast with lots of choice and very fresh. Omelettes and waffles available on request. A glass of cava is offered at breakfast.

Nothing.

Comic Art Hotel is located at 2 Augustijnenkaai, Sluizeken-Tolhuis-Ham, Ghent 9000, Belgium. It is only about a 10-mins walk to Gravensteen along Lievestraat and Geldmunt. The other attractions of Ghent are just beyond Gravensteen. It is a comic art hotel decorated with artwork from comics. The room and bathroom are large and movement is easy. We have a view of a small garden outside our window. The bed is comfortable and towels are changed every few days. There is a kettle for tea and coffee maker so tea bags and coffee capsules are given. There is a heated drying rack in the bathroom which can dry towels or laundry. The toiletries are well provided.

There is not much to complain, except that optional breakfast is expensive, but the range is large. It is probably worthwhile if you want a heavy breakfast.
