Great location, sparkling clean, common area and kitchen very orderly and well-equipped. For a family, it was nice to have the extra amenities like the tennis courts, swimming pool, and the animals! I’m glad I read the reviews so I was not surprised by the owner, who was indeed a character. Both the staff and the owner were very helpful with extra information about the area. The whole place is not soundproof, we could clearly hear the phone conversation of someone in the next room, and other guests in the early morning, walking up and down the halls. If you were a light sleeper, you might want to keep this in mind and make sure you have earplugs.

- Bit hot in the room but was durable with window open throughout the night - Manager on duty was slightly rude when we parked facing the angled parking sign, however said it should be on the other side of the gravel driveway, which was an honest mistake especially when no other cars were around to demonstrate parking orientation. More signage in the area would be nice.

The nature and animals all around was the best for me. As a Caribbean, nature is important for me and wow I could BREATHE it’s really beautiful. A big kitchen and a huge main room with very good couches, nice design and really helpful and clean staff ! Cleaning is everyday and that’s awesome. There is even a swimming pool so it was really nice to stay there.

The bed… not comfortable at all. And the lake of transports in town so if you don’t have a car like me, be smart hahah. The nice owner find me a ride to help me get through the train station. Thanks again.

We only booked one night here but we had such an enjoyable stay. The property is a bit isolated from anything but there was so much to do there that it didnt even matter. The homestead felt very warm and welcoming, the kids fed the lambs, patted the pig & deer in the paddock, and we played tennis and boardgames. The room was warm, comfortable & clean, and the kitchen was well-equipped. It was the perfect staging spot for our visit to the caves & was great value for money.

We were kept awake by the noisy floorboards every time someone walked past our room. Next time Id ask for a room further down the hallway if possible.

Great location for glow works and black water. Kids love it. Lots of board games, big and cosy living room. Enough kitchen space. Lovely farm animals and great view.

Maybe it is common issue for backpackers that you could hear your next by room talking or corridor walking. We sleep a bit early, but my children not affected at all. I slept well after a while all quiet. Considering the price and environment, I still recommend it and will definitely come back again

This backpackers gave me perfect experience. Only $36 a night, and the environment is wonderful. Everywhere is clean and tidy. And I really like the big lounge, it makes me feel like home. The location of it is also perfect, which is just located acrossing road from the black water rafting and surrounded by beautiful farms. The owner is a very interesting guy. I love his dog and his lambs, they are so cute and friendly. All in all I'm totally satisfied about everything there!

Nothing that I didn't like!

This place had a vibe like you just got to summer camp! It was in a peaceful nature setting with some animals to go look at and a great patio for sitting out and enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning. The guests were very quiet in the common areas at night, most people just reading or doing some personal activities, which was amazing! You can actually get a good night's sleep here.

The mattresses were sagging and in dire need of an upgrade. Also, there were no lockers in the dorm rooms, and most people left the room unlocked. There were some small lockers in the hallway to lock up your valuables, but not your suitcase. The bathroom, while outdated, had plenty of hot water and was perfectly adequate.

Gorgeous location and really easy to walk down to the caves (less than 20mins down the road), even a long walk just half an hour away. We didn’t have a car so Dave picked us up on arrival which was so helpful with our giant backpacks! Absolute highlight was the wide selection of animals (specifically George the short puppy who gave excellent scrabble tips and cuddles) and chompers the pig who liked belly rubs. Dave was so welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure everyone was looked after (with the assistance of george who covered entertainment ).The hostel itself is spotless and the pool was pristine. Such good value for money and would recommend 10/10 all round :)

Nothing!

JunoHall was easily the most homey place we stayed in on our trip to NZ! It was so inviting - felt like hanging out at nans. The farm animals were great and got to feed the lambs at dinner time! The kitchen has everything you need for cooking, and folks gathered in the lounge each night for dinner and a movie which was super wholesome. Special mention to George the dog. Great location for Waitomo caves.

The location was absolutely stunning, it was set on a farm and we got to hand feed the animals in the evening!! The owner was so lovely and friendly and his dog George was so cute. You can tell the owner really enjoys speaking to the guests. Saw there was a swimming pool and tennis court but did not have time to see those. Wish I could’ve stayed here longer!

The only thing I would say is that the rooms were quite warm with it being summer here so having a fan would have been nice. The windows were open to try and cool the room down but meant there were some creepy crawlies in the room. That is the only reason the rating wasn’t a 10!! Otherwise lovely.
