My partner and I spent a total of nine nights at Casa Clandestina and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is in excellent condition—well-maintained, clean, and thoughtfully designed. Roel, the owner who lives on the third floor, was incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. Casa Clandestina is the perfect choice if you’re looking for a peaceful and relaxing base in a more built-up area. Despite being centrally located and close to everything in Manila, the street is quiet, and we slept soundly every night. Thank you so much for everything, Roel! It was absolutely perfect! From the moment we arrived, the host made us feel incredibly welcome—super friendly and attentive. The location is unbeatable, barrio Manila, making it easy to explore everything. The house itself is stunning, with unique and artistic decor throughout, giving it a one-of-a-kind vibe. The atmosphere is both cozy and inspiring. If you're looking for a place with character, comfort, and an amazing host, Casa Clandestina is the spot! We only stayed one night, but we wish we could have stayed longer. Definitely coming back!

Great location, super quiet, perfect space for when you need some sleep/some time to yourself but still want to explore Medellin (I’d just flown into Colombia and was jet lagged and exhausted). Also the owner was super helpful with recommendations and logistical info and the communal areas were nice

Wasn’t very sociable. I purposefully went for somewhere quiet and i was only there for one full day so I wasn’t too bothered about this, but it would have been nice to have some more opportunities to meet others in the hostel

We really loved the hostel and stayed there twice for over 10 days. We really recommend the Freddy Mercury room that has a big lovely balcony. The hostel is perfectly situated in Manila, there are many nice restaurants just around, and a cool yoga studio. The hostel feels more like a big apartment, there is a fully equipped kitchen, a living room with a tv, bathrooms with hot water. The wifi is perfect, and you can watch Netflix 😄 Roel is very friendly and helpful ☺️ he also let us leave our luggage there for a week when we travelled to Choco

Everything was very good

Casa Clandestina exceeded our expectations in every way. The room was big with plenty of room to unpack and relax, the bed was comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and the whole place was kept exceptionally clean. Roel was very accommodating, allowing us to check in early and assisted us in obtaining fútbol tickets. The location was great, on a quiet street only a quick walk from the grocery store, the busy Poblado area and the metro. I highly recommend Casa Clandestina - this is definitely where we will be staying when we return to Medellín!

Guest house super comfortable and well equipped. We had the room with the sofa bed and slept well on both. The room and bathroom were clean, air-conditioned and we slept very well! The communal areas are clean and the kitchen is fully equipped. The manager is super friendly and available, and we were able to drop off our luggage during the day without any problems. He also gave us advice on our next destination and on Medellin. Very good stay

I enjoyed my stay here. The property is in a fantastic location, with lots of lovely restaurants and bars very close by. Check in and communication was really easy and it felt really safe. Hot water from the shower too which seems a bit of a rarity in many hotels. They also let me store my bags there for a few hours which was really helpful. Thanks for a great stay!

I was staying in the Freddie Mercury room and the windows didn’t close fully which meant it was a bit loud at night until traffic eased off but nothing ear plugs didn’t solve. I think the place will be even better when they sort the roof which I see they are working towards 😊

I stayed in the deluxe double at the very top floor and can’t recommend it enough. If you’ve been staying in shared hostals and bathrooms for a few weeks and want a break (or in my case, to treat myself for my birthday), it’s perfect. Not only does it have a nice big window allowing natural light in, but it has hooks all over allowing you to put everything in your backpack in a spot and settle in for a few days. I personally used the hostal’s laundry service (expensive because it’s Medellín but cheaper and faster than the laundry service right next door) and hung up all my clothes in the closet and it felt amazing to be able to do that haha. It was close to restaurants, bars, and a short 10 minute walk to the metro. Also Jeferson and Ariel literally couldn’t be any nicer. I locked my keys in my room because I forgot that closing the door automatically locks it and i wanted to eat dinner on the terrace, and Jeferson was literally there in 10 minutes laughing with me goodnaturally about it. Roel provided super detailed instructions and recommendations on how to get to places using public transportation, and just was generally super kind.

The one thing I would note is that - while you have the only room on the terrace - that rooftop is shared. Now in my case, I didn’t see a single other person up there, so it felt like I had the rooftop to myself and it was magical. But I can see that that could drastically change given the group of people at the hostel. If a group would decide to come up at midnight and be rambunctious, that would probably make for a really different experience.

The host Roel cannot do enough to help. He runs an individual lodging with charm and character. The location is superb with lots of variety of eateries and places to relax nearby- only 10 mins easy walk to the metro and that’s with an autistic child!. The lodgings are clean and comfortable and Roel even provides kitchen facilities with free filter coffee. There are facilities to cook a meal if you wish. Roel is a mind of information and has planned journeys to and from most areas you would want to visit. Also provides a laundry facility cheaper than the commercial launderette.

I could not fault the property. Please be aware when booking this is. Shared lodging facility and in a busy neighbourhood- there may be some noise but none that detracts from your stay or experience

there was no breakfast unless I bought it and cooked it myself. The place was spotless, and the room was comfortable. For a street side- room it was pretty quiet. The manager helped get me a tour. The guests were helpful and friendly. They let me check in early the room was ready, so I could store my stuff and go explore.

Having to leave the room and Medelinn. And my nightly walk to the restroom, but I did know it was going to be a shared bathroom.
