This is a very fine hotel by its location, by its entire staffs, by its services BUT it could do with a GOOD restaurant: they will serve food of a limited range so we ventured out into a world of tourist quality service and industrial foods masquerading as Spanish high cuisine. A truly lovely city of scenic value slowly going the way of ,say, Venice with high volumes of tourists demanding cheap, and often poor quality foods. The plaza mayor with its arcade shops and tiered residences has become a noisey and nasty tourists hangout with no nice quality shops, or restaurants, this city is too nice to allow further deterioration of this sort letting down the good hotels: palacio de castelano & hospes de Estaban. It's very good to see a strong smart police force always present and very good mannered driving where the pedestrian is considered the important road user, not the flashy car.

This is a more then difficult question :accommodation is absolute fantastic ,great beds and bath room very clean and quiet , When we arrived by car a gentleman in front of the hotel collected the car to park and in the morning the car was brought back to the entrance . Small sized restaurant with excellent food and wine choice , I have been in more then a few hundred hotels in my live incl Dubai but this compared to the price and quality is absolutely top . The photo shows the view we had ……not bad at all .

Beautiful hotel, a converted palacio, very centrally placed in the historic heart of Salamanca. The staff were excellent with every member of the team looking to help with anything needed. We had a junior suite which was in a small modern development in the rear courtyard. It was a two-storey unit with a sitting room downstairs and bedroom and very large bathroom upstairs. Everything was clean and beautifully maintained. Breakfast was great with a very good choice, and again very helpful staff.

There was nothing we could fault. I suppose the only thing that could have been different would have been if the restaurant was open in the evening, but there are lots of places around so that wasn't an issue.

The real strength of this hotel was its stunning central location with views over the San Esteban Monastery. There was a nice terrace outside with beautiful evening views. The staff were exceptional, from the reception where we received a warm welcome to the woman who cleaned the room. The room (junior suite) was spacious and comfortable. Would stay again.

It was difficult to get service in the bar and we frequently had to look round for someone and call through to the room behind the bar. The public areas (although grand) were a little soulless. Breakfast was functional and in a fairly small room below the bar. There was a wedding on the Saturday which dominated the public areas.

My room was great for the most part. The bed was very comfortable, the TV worked well, and the minibar kept things nice and cold. The reception staff was very helpful and always super friendly. I had a teeny tiny window, providing precious little light into the room, but there was nonetheless a nice view of part of the cathedral that was nicely lit up at night, and the room was quiet so I was able to sleep without being disturbed. Breakfast was great, with lots of foods and beverages to choose from.

The shower had virtually no water pressure, making showering quite the challenge. The safety deposit box was very awkward to access, since it was located on the floor, inside, and at the back of, the closet, and it was also bolted to the floor!

The hotel was exceptional. It was clean,staff wonderful, secure parking and dog friendly.Breakfast was also very good. Location was very good in order to explore Salamanca. We had a very upsetting time when one of our dogs escaped and was away for 2 nights. The staff at the hotel were wonderful and understanding. They contacted the police and other agencies. Our dog was rescued by the police and firemen. All the staff were elated at the outcome. Only mentioning it to show the care taken at the hotel. If you are visiting Salamanca stay here. Many thanks.

No negatives.

We reserved the room just 1 hour before arriving. It is a BEAUTIFUL hotel within walking distance of many of the old city's attractions. We felt very safe walking in the neighbourhood at night. The front desk staff was so welcoming! The greatest surprise was to open our room's window for some fresh evening air. To our amazement, a breathtaking view of the cathedral was before our eyes. See photo below! That was room 317 by the way.

There was no ramp for our luggage in the front of the hotel; however, that was not a problem because the front desk staff carried our luggage for us. There was accessibility in the rear of the building.

My third time at this delightful hotel. Perfect location to explore historic Salamanca and the University. Dog friendly, I always travel with my faithful companion. The terrace is a nice place to enjoy a light meal and beverage.

Like many pet friendly hotels in Spain my pup is not allowed in the breakfast room, so I skip breakfast or the restaurant so I don’t go. In France and Italy this is not the case and she and I enjoy dining together, she is under the table of course.

We love this hotel! We were quite ill shortly after arriving and needed to extend our stay an additional day and the hotel staff graciously made it happen even though they were full. The valet also put bottled water in our car! The hotel is beautiful, the staff is charming and multi-lingual and the junior suite is very comfortable and a bargain for the price. I also loved the selection of pillows and the unscented bedding and towels. We look forward to returning another time.

The location is excellent. The room was exceptional. We liked the individualized greeting card and the decorative chocolate display. Breakfast was very, very good. The furnishing and decorations of public areas give the hotel the appearance of a museum (well, almost...): It is a true luxury hotel.

Parking was a little expensive - we preferred a reasonably close public car park that was substantially cheaper (with a hotel coupon).
