First visit and the stay was exceptional. Super clean and conveniently located.

The employees at the spa were quite rude when we went to inquire about a couples massage and availability for the next day. There were 5 or 6 employees standing behind the counter when we walked in. When we asked about booking an appointment, they all seemed cold and short in their so called customer service as if they didn't want to be bothered. We walked out and booked with another place down the road where the entire experience was excellent.

This was graduation weekend. There were also company parties. A lot of people. Everywhere in bar and any other sitting areas were allowed to be “reserved” for large groups. This left no where except our room (3 people) to go and enjoy a cocktail after the ceremony (3 pm). There were a lot of other parents left with no where to sit as well. You should NOT mark off areas as reserved (if reserved for dinner) so early in the day or add verbiage such as “reserved as of —-pm, so people can sit and relax in social setting. Also should not allow everything to be reserved with no where for customers to sit. You lost our before dinner business because we left and went somewhere else to celebrate before our dinner reservation.

We booked months in advance, and upon checking in, staff advised there was parking lot closures for building roof repair, which started that same weekend of the start of our stay. The staff advised they did close the 6th floor as a noise buffer, but we were on the 5th floor and still heard periodical banging and tool machines. Some work began before 8 am. Communication with guests before check-in would have been greatly appreciated, and it would not have affected our booking. This is the third stay at the location.

Lovely decor and ambience - older building with older style lift - however doors are key card entry. Very well situated for me to drive about here and there and plenty of parking available on the grounds. Across the road from East Tennessee State University, but not too noisy or rowdy with uni crowds. Short drive to grocery store. Spacious room - a little on the dark side, but this is mostly due to the building being older and lots of dark wood. Bed and pillows comfortable. New model shower head with good hot water and good water pressure.

Fitness center could be somewhat improved. Bathroom amenities were adequate, but somewhat lagging behind those available in my other stays.

The bathroom was wonderful, because it was spacious, beautifully designed with bathtub, separate shower stall, semi-private toilet area and two sinks. Also, we've liked the shape, color and pattern of the floor tiles. We were there for 5 nights, and the bathrooms got cleaned daily and towels got changed on a daily basis, also. Last, we felt that the Hotel was providing us generously with Toiletries.

Parking wasn't bad, but wasn't optimal either.

The Carnegie was fantastic. It is an absolutely gorgeous hotel very reminiscent of grand estates like Biltmore, and the staff could not have been nicer. Our room (dog friendly!) was beautiful, large and had a huge bathroom. It rained a lot of the time when we were there and the staff were kind enough to figure out a way for us to be able to eat in an inside area with our dog without causing any problems with the health laws. This is such a great hotel. We really wished that we could have stayed longer!

The hotel was absolutely beautiful. My room was clean. The bathroom was huge and I loved the separate shower and tub. The bed was beyond comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food from the restaurant was delicious. I'm glad they had a small gym.

Unfortunately, the noise outside the hotel was loud. There was a train that went by a few times in the evening. It's located next to the college on a busy highway so noise is expected I guess. There's no menu for the restaurant and the one online is outdated. I ordered room service and what I ordered had two sides. Well that was the old menu. I had to call again to order the sides so that was another room service charge and another tip. The breakfast also isn't included. Figure a few items should be. The gym is very tiny but I had it to myself.

Unique and beautiful. The rooms are huge! A beautiful restaurant is on site and they have a pretty good whiskey selection.

There are no microwaves in any of the rooms, you have to go down to the lower level to find one. They say this is to reduce lingering odors in the room and it must work because the room does smell fresh and clean so this isn't a big deal to me but it kind of bothered my wife.

Clean and beautiful facility in a good location, especially if you have need to attend activities at ETSU. We very much enjoyed our stay. Good dining options near by if you want a day of relaxing at the hotel.

There was a free coffee area available; however, it would have been better if there was hot water/tea available and an iced water option. Yep, that's all I can think of that was negative.

Great location! Very clean, upscale atmosphere. Some people seen reading by the fireplace in the lobby.

Mattress was too soft/maybe worn- not sure- however room was large and very clean. Has an upscale- old vintage style which made it nice. No complimentary breakfast or water bottles in the room or option to add breakfast “included” in the reservation for the restaurant downstairs. Great breakfast right down the street at First Watch!
