Really spacious room with all the facilities we needed. The bathroom had flannels as well as toiletries supplied which was a really lovely touch. The beds were very comfortable with quality bedding and good pillows. The decor was all clean and fresh and really tastefully done throughout. Down in the pub breakfasts were delicious with a selection of cereals and also hot choices. In the evening we ate over two nights with different size parties and the food was faultless. All the staff were friendly and helpful and nothing seemed too much. Great service. A fabulous stay.
Maybe a choice of a vegetarian full English for breakfast and a vegetarian special on the restaurant board could be considered for the future but the alternative options that were available were delicious. Thank you!

Breakfast was very good, choice of cereals was fine and the cooked options plentiful . The muffin with scrambled egg and smoked salmon was a large portion. The evening meals were also well cooked and generous. Did not have room for dessert.
The rooms are up a fairly narrow and steep staircase which was not a problem for us but could be an issue for disabled or elderly as there is no lift. I mentioned to the staff about having a non-slip mat in the bath for ease of getting out of the shower.

The staff are amazing! Great access when the pub itself is closed. Tea and coffee facilities. Lovely bathroom. Spacious bedroom with bed and sofa bed.
Hard bed, preferred the sofa (this doesn't deter me from wanting to go back) Tv comes on on its own, I unplugged it. Not a complaint but so people know: In case you fancy an evening drink the pub closes at 20:30 or 21:00 If I wasn't having a meal I would have gone down for a drink around 22:00 and would have found it closed. This closing time might be normal around there but not everyone will expect it.

The staff were really friendly. We were made to feel very welcome. The room was a great size and we had everything we needed.
We were told a late private party with DJ was being held, on the morning of the party. It would’ve been more honourable to have told us well in advance of our stay to give us the option to change our booking.

Close by to the Sandlings walk and Snape Maltings. The room was a great size with a comfortable bed and sofa. Despite the windows opening out onto the pub garden below, this soon fell quiet as the pub pretty much closed when the last patron went home. Food was good and the staff were lovely, welcoming and friendly. I imagine breakfast would have been good however having woken up early to a warm bright day and the sound of bird-song I decided to be on my way.

Some rooms are in the main building, another has a separate entrance at the side. It's a slightly better room, BUT note that the ceilings slope and to get from the bed/bathroom area to the sofa/TV area you have to navigate between beams which could be a problem for the less mobile.
Quiet location but in this room there was some boiler noise behind the bed in the night. Breakfast is served from 9am (quite late).

A characterful pub. Quite old and quirky- a little like our house! Very clean, a large and comfortable room, a cheerful and helpful staff and very close to Snape where we enjoyed concerts as part of the Aldeburgh Festival. Lots of quiet walks from the Golden Key. A reasonable price. We are booked again for July.
Nothing- though stairs might be a challenge for those less mobile.

Great location 5 mins walk from Snape Maltings (although at night note that it is along a pavement next to the road and is unlit - torch would be needed). Also within moments are riverside reedbed walks for birdwatchers. Clean and comfortable room with good selection of hot drink sachets. The building is old (historic) but has modernised in all the right places eg bathroom. Friendly and very obliging staff. Breakfast - basic cereals plus an excellent hot breakfast with several varied choices on the menu. Tea, coffee, preserves. Nice, sunny breakfast room. Easy parking.
Neither of these were a problem for me but maybe helpful for other travellers to know. 1. Check in if pub is closed requires a phone call, staff came within less than 5 minutes. Entrance is at back, in car park. (First impressions - door needs painting!!) 2. Breakfast is at 9am, earlier can be accommodated but you'd need to arrange with staff when you check in

Location perfect for a visitto Snape Maltings
We stayed 2 nights. On the first morning, breakfast was weird, with only a selection of hot plates offered, although requests for cereal and for toast were fulfilled. In contrast, on the second morning the service was exemplary with a traditional cereal, hot plate, and toast all offered. The staff on the two mornings were completely different, with day one being given (very slowly) by a couple of very young girls, while on day 2 it was by a much more helpful and sociable lady.

Convenient location for snape maltings, reasonable price, comfortable bed.
Carpark unavailable due to upgrade and noisy building repairs made access difficult Limited range of breakfast items- no fruit, juice or yoghurt, small quantity of toast provided with no butter or marg Cups in our room not washed from previous day Staff friendly but sometimes inattentive
