From the minute I arrived, Jayne couldn't have been more welcoming. Her enthusiasm and energy is a breath of fresh air. The room's decor lives up to the "olde worlde charm" that is advertised, but so often that is a euphemism for "old and tired" - not in this case! Everything was spick and span, beautifully presented and so very welcoming. The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in, and despite arriving after a 36 hour trip from Barcelona, I didn't have a jot of jet lag after the deepest sleep of my adult life. The property itself is located just a short stroll from the centre of Arrowtown (although it should be noted there is a short hill - perfectly manageable for any able-bodied people, but worth mentioning for people who may not be as mobile). So a perfect location for discovering the town, and for hiking into the hills. Highly recommended property, and I will be back on my next trip to Arrowtown. Thanks Jayne!

We chose Settlers because of the charming cottage like look and proximity to the Arrowtown village centre and we weren't disappointed. The two bedroom cottage catered well for our 2 adults and 3 kids. The motel more than lived up to the photos and location being literally a 5 minute walk to the shops and cafes. The unexpected bonus was our hosts Jayne and Carl of the Settlers Cottage Motel were so very friendly and wecoming, allowing us to thoroughly enjoy our stay. They did an excellent job of looking after us during our stay and keeping our rooms well provided for, clean, and tidy. The motels two very friendly cats and a wee dog were a real hit with our kids. Thanks Jayne and Carl.

Everything. The idyllic setting of yesteryear was a nostalgic step back in time. Absolutely could not be faulted in my mind. Picturesque place to be when it snows outside for those who have not seen it before, was a real treat. We have plans to return with our whole family soon. Everything was excellent, but the cats were an added bonus. The beds were really comfortable. Everything we could have needed was provided, and was accessible (I have sight loss). Arrowtown itself is a lovely place to visit: great Chinese heritage walk, countryside, streets with heritage buildings, places to eat, museum, etc etc.

There was a steep-ish climb up from the village, and I thought there was one cat and hearing them taking from the back door to front door was rather disturbing (not serious! Whichever one was laying across me at any given given time was the Right Cat).

Lovely old fashioned place designed with period features and items that take you back to an earlier era. If you are looking for that modern contemporary style of accommodation this probably isn't for you but if you embrace the older style is in a good location with just a short walk to the town. A laundry room was available for a small charge. Efficient electric heaters for those chillier times,

It was not a problem for me but there was no air conditioning if visiting in a particularly hot spell. Some may not like the older kitchen area and cabinets painted to look old but everything was clean.

Service was exceptional with a friendly greeting. Felt a bit like a bed and breakfast but without the breakfast. Loved the quirky old style charm of the place. Was easy walking distance to the Main Street. Only had Ceylon tea though so had to go to purchase my own tea for the morning cup. The hand basin either had boiling water or freezing cold water and you have to plug the wing to get a warm mix for the little ones, also no tub only a shower. But overall we loved staying here and would definitely stay again and would highly recommend.

Charming and cosy cottage stay in Arrowtown. The vintage styling of the rooms really adds to the magical feel- every detail has been carefully curated. The room was equiped with a bright and modern bathroom which was great. Heater and electric blanket was also appreciated with the colder weather. Lovely and hospitable staff!

I feel like the room needed an additional wall power outlet, and although there was a bar/body soap supplied, I would like to have had liquid hand soap as an option. Other than that, no faults!

Located conveniently to all the areas of Arrowtown and Queenstown, you can’t go wrong with this great motel. And motel isn’t the right word to describe Settlers, it’s more like being a guest in a good friend’s home. Carl and Jayne are great hosts! Whether you walk into Arrowtown for dinner and a pint, walk or bike the many great trails along the river or take a drive along breathtaking vistas, you’ll love coming back home to Settlers Cottage.

Really enjoyed the old world charm of the Settlers Cottage Motel, lovely touches in the cottages, especially the quirky outdoor furniture. The location in Arrowtown is fantastic, a short walk away from the shopping and dining areas and in a very picturesque location with views of the mountains. The gardens are lovely. Very comfortable beds and a variety of options from studio, 1 bed to 2 bed motels. The owners are lovely and were very friendly and welcoming. And the BEST thing about the motel were the resident Burmese boys, Charlie and Monty, a pair of magnificent friendly cats who visited us in our cottage and hung out with us in the evenings! Cat lovers should definitely stay in this motel!

We had 3 nights at this very comfortable accommodation in stunning Arrowtown. We loved the old fashioned decor, the spring blooms, snow topped mountains and blue skies; we couldn't have had a more lovely stay. A fantastic location, easy stroll to cafes and shops. E-bikes available to hire for a fun cycle to vineyards. Also enjoyed the friendly company of Monty the cat on occasion.
