rooms are good size, has a coffee table and two lounge chairs that looked out over the grounds. Bathroom was okay, my only issue here was the shower, there was no instructions on how to use the shower itself and each time I tried I could either have the water freezing cold or scalding hot, there was no middle, so I had to have a bath each night instead of a shower. There are no televisions in the rooms, not a problem for myself, proper wooden coat hangers which was a bonus to hang my clothes up.

Apart from not mastering how to use the shower, the only thing I would suggest adding to the room is a full length mirror.

Friendly, helpful staff. We really appreciated the efforts around sustainability and the sourcing of local skills, materials and produce. Lovely restaurant and bar and also the availability of things like drying rooms for the ski season.

Parking was a bit tight for staying guests. It was a popular spot with visitors and restaurant goers and we had to park up the road a few times.

Fantastic breakfast from the restaurant. Comfortable, clean rooms with great beds and showers.

Would be nice to have a TV in the room for longer stays. Parking is a bit limited.

I loved the styling of the rooms and the commitment to sustainability in the repurposing of the 1980s interior design. The refillery approach was great, and the products were mostly local and a good quality.

The Family room was long and narrow so the kid's room was accessible through a glass door (with a curtain) out the back of the main parent's room, which was not the privacy I was hoping for. The bathroom/toilet could have used some creative approaches to interior design like the rest of the relaxed, cool fitout. But the most important thing was that the menu had only one vegetarian main, for a family group of 8 vegetarians so we felt a bit limited. It meant we only ate one meal there despite being there for 3 days and nights. Surely a commitment to sustainability should include many and varied plant-based options? This was a real disappointment.

They don’t have a buffet breakfast, but you choose a free item and a free drink from their breakfast menu. I had the salmon and the brioche bun and they were good and filling. Free sauna (unfortunately i didn’t have time to use it) Friendly staff My room was clean and spacious

idk why but the shower area was all black, from the ceiling to the walls to the floor, with no light switch to illuminate exactly what i’m looking at. it took some time as well for me to figure out how the heater worked for the shower (turn all the way clockwise for the heater).

Second time I have stayed at Sherwood, and it continued to be a great base to see Queenstown. Room was spacious and well appointed, staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was great for dinner (need to book). Bus stop to Queenstown, Arrowtown, Lake Hayes and the Skibus (etc) is out the front (down a slope) which was very convenient - as this place isn't in central Queenstown, you get to see stars at night, and it's very quiet in the evenings.

Free milk (cow, oat) is available at reception, however in smaller containers -it would be good to be able to get larger milks containers for breakfast :) Extremely minor though as you can always ask for additional milk.

Sustainability but still with many of the creature comforts of a traditional hotel. The restaurant was incredible - we could have eaten there for breakfast and dinner every day! The room was very spacious and provided a lot of places to store clothes and baths. The staff and facilities made it such a relaxed and calming stay.

The bathrooms are a little outdated, but they are still entirely functional. The rooms are not entirely soundproof either. There wasn’t really a communal area where families could gather and play games by the fire (without having to order food and drinks from the restaurant).

location was handing and we luckily got onsite parking. room had pretty good access as i have some disablility. loved the blanket curatins and the whole concept of what they are doing in this place.

would have liked the bed to be higher as it was hard for my 6 foot husband to get up and down to it and also for my disabilities it was awkward. the 2 lounge chairs were neat but not comfortable as you could not sit up in them and the timber at the front of them pushes on the back of your legs would have been nice to be able to get stations on the radio that had english lighting is too dark, an option to turn on a brighter light would have been appreciated, could not sit in the chair and read

Minimalist aesthetic that meant the rooms aren't cluttered. Everything you would need for a short stay. They also have things like projectors to borrow if you do want to stay in. We enjoyed the vegan options in the restaurant one evening and yoga the next morning. Both were excellent! The grounds are really well kept, plant life is well looked after! The staff were all friendly and happy to help. Definitely worth a stay if you are in the area.

A downside is the showers. The hotel called this out in their welcome note by stating they prioritised replacing the plumping over the hardware in their last refurbishment. While comendible, the bathroom itself was cold and because there is no heat source, towels and everything stayed damp. This wouldn't be an issue in the summer - we just happened to be staying in the autumn. Separate to the Hotel, the restaurant while fantastic could do with a few more vegan mains or something more substantial. We would have eaten here on the second night again had there been a second vegan main available on the “we choose for you” set meal.

Often stay here and the standard is always good. Love the vibe at the Sherwood, relaxed, thoughtful, very comfortable. Rooms are spacious. Location is great, easy 30min walk to town and very close to local bus services. Free onsite parking and excellent wi-fi. The restaurant is an absolute favourite, and the property often has good local events scheduled. Enjoy and frequently use the yoga classes and on-site sauna.

Have had to followup with housekeeping a few times during the last couple of stays, just minor things like the room very much needing a vacuum after multiple days, towels being taken but not replaced. Promptly addressed when brought to their attention - thank you - just feels a bit awkward having to ask.
