A perfect base to explore Queenstown and the surrounding towns. A delicious and substantial breakfast sets you up for the day of exploring. Returning at the end of a long day, the log fire is burning and home made sweet treat await. Mitzi’s cooking is amazing and Dan’s advice about where to go and what to see is customised according to the weather and your individualised interests. This beautifully restored old home is located very close to supermarkets, the airport, and all that Queenstown has to offer, yet it has a peaceful rural setting fronting the river with views of The Remarkables and Coronet Peak. Highly recommended The Ferry to either a couples and would be perfect for a group of six as you have full access to kitchen and living area.

Having travelled to all four corners of the earth and beyond, I can confidently say that The Ferry B&B is in a league of its own. From the moment we arrived, we were treated to an experience that surpasses even the finest hotels. In my opinion, this is not just the best in Queenstown. It is the best in the world. The five star touches were everywhere. Daily surprises like chocolates on the bed and an extra special treat for our honeymoon made our stay even more memorable. The breakfast was outstanding and the takeaway breakfast on our last morning was the best I have ever received from any B&B or even a luxury hotel. The breakfast bap was exceptional and actually deserves a place on the daily menu! What truly sets The Ferry apart is the unparalleled hospitality of Dan and Mitzi. They are warm, engaging and exceptionally well travelled, making every conversation a pleasure. Trying to guess which of them is the mastermind in the kitchen is part of the fun. I am convinced that Mitzi is the magic behind the baking while Dan is the professional witty front of house host. I could be wrong!! Speaking of food, the daily homemade treats in the kitchen were incredible. Freshly baked cheese scones, raspberry cakes, protein balls. All available in the beautifully finished communal kitchen, living room and dining area. It truly felt like a home away from home. Dan, an absolute fountain of local knowledge, provided brilliant insider tips for making the most of Queenstown. He recommended the breathtaking back road route into Queenstown which was a game changer for avoiding traffic while soaking in the stunning landscapes. His advice on hikes and local walks meant we had plenty of options to explore the natural beauty of the area. He pointed us to the best viewpoints and places of interest, ensuring we experienced the most spectacular scenery New Zealand has to offer.

The beautiful decor and all the attention to detail. The room was spotlessly clean the roses and chocolates a nice touch. The shared areas were superb and there were laundry facilities and a fridge available to use. The treat of the day cakes were just delicious! The breakfast in the mornings were made to order, super fresh and plenty of it. Such a big choice to choose from and we really enjoyed eating breakfast with the other guests sharing funny stories. The location is also very close by car to Queenstown. Making it a good place to stay if you want to stay somewhere a little quieter away from the hustle and bustle of town.

Nothing everything was perfect.

A Perfect Getaway! We recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming B&B, and we can’t recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. The accommodation was incredibly comfortable, and the little touches made all the difference—like the fresh rose from the garden and the daily chocolates waiting for us. The hosts truly go above and beyond. They provided insightful recommendations about the local area, which made our trip even more enjoyable. One morning, we had an early trip, and Mitzi thoughtfully packed us a delicious breakfast to take with us. The overnight oats, homemade yogurt, and fresh berries were such a treat! The kitchen always had homemade goodies: fudge and gingerbread men were a hit! It was clear that nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. Overall, our stay was just perfect. If you’re looking for a cosy and welcoming place to stay, this B&B is a gem. Highly recommend!

Nothing!

The best accommodation I've ever stayed at in NZ. The service was exceptional. We felt right at home, the breakfast was a menu you could choose from in the morning in addition to freshly baked bread and cereal. They were so thoughtful and packed us a breakfast box accommodating for all our dietary requirements when we had an early day trip planned. The rooms were cleaned every day and a treat waited for us in the kitchen every night. The location is very quiet and perfect for winding down after activities out around Queenstown. I would always come back!

Literally nothing.

Great Breakfast, Great value for money, with excellent quiet location. One of the best accomodation places we stayed in NZ, so don't hesitate to book it, in fact was far better than many other 5 star hotels we stayed in while in NZ for 1 month, so book early. Dan and Mitzi go above and beyond to look after you to make you feel at home. Additional benefit of washer and dryer with chef style gourmet kitchen you can use doing your stay. Would stay here at least 3 days as this is a better base than Queenstown, if you have a vehicle.

No issues

What a beautiful place! We are so grateful we booked the Ferry for our 3 days in Queenstown. The location is idyllic and away from the bustle of central Queenstown. Dan & Mitzi take such good care of their guests and are great for a chat! We loved the little gestures left in your room + afternoon tea treats + the delicious freshly-cooked breakfasts (which uses local ingredients and even eggs from their own chickens). The rooms are pristine and cosy! We loved everything about the Ferry.

A lovely historic inn on the Shotover River, far enough out of town that you feel as though you are in the rural countryside yet close enough that you can easily access all of Queenstown’s amenities. Wonderful breakfasts, very comfy beds and gracious hosts. Loved the place and our 3-night stay.

Unfortunately we didn’t bring bicycles with us (which is not a criticism of the property) but with its location right on a major bike path, perhaps the inn might make bikes available for guest use in the future.

Everything!!! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Dan & Mitzi. Dan provided us with lots of great information about the area and places to eat. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Every day, the bed was dressed, fresh towels were left, and a little treat was waiting for us too. Breakfast was cooked to order every morning and was delicious. One morning we left early for Milford Sound and they kindly prepared a breakfast to go for us which we really appreciated. Every evening there was a "treat of the day" waiting for us to have with a hot drink of your choice that you could make in the kitchen. Dan & Mitzi were brilliant hosts and we highly recommend the Ferry B & B.

Loved everything!!!

Our stay at the Ferry Bed & Breakfast was absolutely delightful! From the moment we arrived, hosts Dan and his wife greeted us with warmth and hospitality, making us feel right at home. The homemade breakfast they prepared each morning was a true highlight 🍳 The entire B&B was very clean and had a cozy atmosphere that made us feel relaxed. We especially loved gathering around the fireplace in the sitting room in the evenings with tea and swapping stories with fellow guests after a day of exploring the area. The location of the B&B was perfect for us, with convenient parking and easy access to the city center. Surrounded by stunning scenery🏔 We would highly recommend this charming B&B to anyone looking for a memorable and comfortable stay in the area ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
