I was pleasantly surprised how good this hotel is for the price we paid after reading several bad reviews. I found the Staff very helpful and seemed very happy in their work - particularly restaurant staff at breakfast, which gave a nice atmosphere. Breakfast good - hot food was hot! Had GF toast and oat milk so I could have a proper breakfast! (We didn't have dinner, so can't comment) Bed comfortable. Everything we needed in our room. Seemed newly decorated and new bathroom. Hallways newly decorated too. Quiet spot.

Slip road to hotel could be easily missed as it's as you come off the roundabout...then it's about 8 miles before you can turn back. Bigger signs and more info on this on the website would be helpful.

We'd already stayed at the Kingscliff Hotel at Holland on Sea which is owned by the same company. The standard of the hotel matched that of the Kingscliff which was very good. Nice clean room, good breakfast and not far from the A12.

The hotel is run on a skeleton staff. When we arrived the receptionist was also the bar attendant, waitress in the restaurant and cleaned the table after we had eaten. We went for a drink in the bar after the restaurant had closed and were surprised to find that she was the only member of staff in the remote hotel at such a late hour with no security or panic buttons. We found it totally out of order, there should always be two members of staff to deal problems with guests.

The food was well presented, albeit only scampi and chips, the scampi was excellent quality the chips piping hot. Breakfast was a basic english , but as it's complimentary you can't really grumble. It was better than some places I've paid 15 quid for breakfast. The room was good enough except for you could hear everyword through the vent in the bathroom, from the room next door, so if you we're planning on bathroom aerobics with a honey, you best not mind a listening audience.

There was dirt around the door frames, where it hadn't been vaccummed properly, but it's not the ritz and for 70 quid, I've slept in dirtier rooms for 300 quid. It's my first ever stay in a dragonfly, and overall I would stay again. It is what it is.

Lovely place, great food/drink options, staff (Rebecca in particular) were super helpful and made everything easy and quick when checking in and getting food/drink. Breakfast all included with a good range of hot and cold items, all sorts of coffee/tea choices and fresh fruit juices. Really quiet in rooms considering location too which was brilliant. Rooms very spacious, really comfy bed, bathroom nice, tea coffee, tv, desk all the usual bits were all there. Really positive stay and would 100% recommend it for the price, which if you are a genius member on booking.com and you book on a mobile (getting the mobile only discount) is even cheaper ! 😉

Lovely setting. Unfortunately we got a view of the rear car park not the lake, but for one night that's ok. Nice size room, well decorated and furnished. Bathroom immaculate, lots of hot water and clean crisp towels.

The receptionist was delightful to deal with, especially booking in, but in the morning she was chatting with someone behind the desk, for nearly an hour, and things were rather neglected in the dining area, 3 tables littered with used crockery and food, no milk in the coffee machine, and couldn't get her attention. Lots of variety for breakfast, apart from the English which by 8am, was overcooked scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and stewed beans. But still

Winter time, so very quiet, no need to book for dinner. The room was spacious and the bed was lush... Both me and my daughter slept well, with a good mattress. The bar is next to the room. Plenty of bedroom and plenty of outdoor space

Odd place to be... The first time I came here it was clueless and hiding away from the main dual carriageway. I was driving in pit black and looked like it was dead end but it was not. Car park fee, so make sure you log in correctly. First time use I mistake the days of staying and had to re enter again, so make sure u log in Ur reg and days of staying. Confuse on log in and check out the system however u can go reception if u are struggling to use the machine.

Being kept in touch between booking and arrival was useful. The breakfast was fabulous! The young lady doing check in/bar/dinner service and breakfast (!) was very pleasant and deserves a rise for her multi-tasking! Dinner was OK and in-room tea and coffee was welcome. (I feel badly they we accidentally came away with 2 of your teaspoons and will try to get them back to you through our granddaughter who lives in Colchester.) The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean and tidy. The soap/body wash were very nice. The view over the lawn and a window that opened slightly for fresh air. Much easier to to get to than it looked on the map. Plenty of parking, and much nicer than a city hotel.

Nothing serious. Just a few small things: Nothing we needed corrected on a weekend: We couldn't get heat into the towel rail. The toilet bowl had a small sticky patch that hadn't been cleaned properly. We found operating the shower a bit complicated. I could have used a sheet of writing paper but realize that's old-fashioned. The room looked a bit "tired", needed a bit of decorating attention. Again minor things.

The hotel was lovely, nice and clean. Staff were friendly. Evening dinner was OK.

Breakfast was a disaster. The food was very poor initially, there was a change of staff and the new team member apologised and cooked all fresh. However the damage was done several people had already left before she could fix it. Also to add insult to injury the coffee machine stopped working. The original team member that put out a breakfast that's was sub standard needs to choose a career that's doesn't give a hotel a bad reputation.

Beautiful, welcoming reception, and breakfast area. Layout was really nice, quite spacious hallways. Makes it feel really welcoming. Good room design, nice hot shower and good heating options. Huge bed!! Complimentary breakfast was a very welcome bonus. And shout out to the lovely staff that had to work during Christmas break.

Only slight niggles were the random dripping of the shower during the night (had to give it a good drain a few times) and the pillows being far too hard but otherwise, it was a lovely stay.

The bed it was so big also we could open the window and it was nice and quiet

There’s no extracter fan in bathroom or fridge in the room no air conditioner and no tray for the cups or biscuits the tables in the dining room could do with a good cleaning they felt sticky no phone in room if we needed help we would have to go back to the reception fine if you’re able bodied but I’m not thankfully nothing happened also the light at the side of the bed if you switch it on it also puts on the hall light ??? and around the edges of the carpet needs to be cleaned and chair moved and cleaned behind
