Location Breakfast Rooms Staff

SPA Kids in pool Whole spa area should be much bigger for amount of people visiting it. Would be great if spa would be kids free because it makes it feel as your local town leisure centre. In pool at the decorative waterfall silicone makes it look cheap. It’s more as a wedding venue than a spa. My first and last time there

- The highlight of our visit was Martine, who served us at breakfast. She provided great service with humour and loads of personality. - Breakfast was excellent. Lots of choice and tasty. - Stunning location; very pleasant having breakfast while looking out over sea and mountains - The spa was first class and its staff were helpful and friendly. - The room was great and the bed was very comfortable.

- Reception staff polite and efficient but not particularly welcoming. - WiFi only accessible subject to consenting to your data being stored and used for the hotel or service provider’s purposes. Did not therefore use it. - The fire in reception wasn’t lit on Sunday which was quite a cold day. - The shower in the room was lukewarm - There were no nuts, crisps, snacks/bites available in the bar in the evening. We queried this with bar staff who told us management didn’t allow this sort of thing to be provided. - There was water and a couple of biscuits in the room when we arrived but these were not replenished.

Breakfast great, lots of choice, would have been nice to have been offered more than just standard tea or coffee i.e. cappuccino/latte etc. Beautiful Room, night staff were really friendly and helpful as arrived super late. Staff on point, and the facilities were excellent. Would use again.

No toilet brush in room. Also we were in a disabled room (we don’t have any disabilities) and there was no soap near the sink which was odd. Info pack in room was damaged and considering the sleekness of the hotel just looked scruffy and was poorly put together. Also small TV. Only minor issues but all fixable.

Hotel is decorated beautifully and is so close to one of our favourite places to eat in Newcastle ‘Percy French’. Tea and coffee facilities are great in the room too!

There were no robes when we arrived in the room, so we couldn’t make our way down to the spay and the phone line signal down to reception was terrible. Once the receptionist finally was able to make me out, she said that robes would be sent up the room for us. I had a coffee in the meantime but after 35 mins there was still no sign of the robes. I battled with the phone again and followed-up with a different receptionist who apologies and after 10 mins the robes appeared. By the time we were able to then finally get ready (Didn’t want to answer the door in my bikini) and got down to the spa we lost nearly an hour of spa time before we had to get ready for dinner.

Breakfast was amazing. Pool unreal Location and decor were fab.

Lunch was very disappointing. 2 meals were brought out and finished before the 3rd and 4 th persons meal were brought out. They had finished their food before chips had arrived. We had to ask for chips that were ordered but not put through the system. We never received our jug of water that was asked for twice. The waiters were very apologetic and we asked for two chips to be deducted from our meal. When we got the bill the chips were still on the bill and so i had to mention to the waiters again. I was very embarrassed as I don’t like to complain about service. Overall was quite a stressful experience. The rest of our stay was amazing however.

We had a toddler with us so the pool and location were fab for him. Also the room was beautiful and plenty of space for him to explore. Breakfast and food we tried at the Percy French was fab. Staff always helpful and friendly. Would recommend to all types of guests - while it was great for our family it didn’t feel overrun by families, there was a nice mix of guests and there were kids hours at the pool so plenty of adult only relaxing spaces.

Couldn’t get temperature in the room just right so we were always a bit too warm because air con system was a bit dated

Very close to town and promenade.Plenty of areas downstairs to sit and great service by the waiting staff especially the slightly older lady in the breakfast area.Reception staff very welcoming.Bedroom was very comfortable and good temperature on cold windy days.

Rooms very dark could have had a few more mirrors.Don’t understand why there couldn’t have been more working drawers so spent few days living out of suitcase as nowhere except wardrobe to unpack into.Even though we had to wait quite a while for room key we still had to wait on robes for leisure centre ,no robes left for children and we had to phone to get bed set up for children even though the ages were on the booking form.Would be nice to have small teapots in the breakfast area as tea was always cold .Would have expected to have water in the rooms in the fridge as tap water just didn’t run cold and maybe even a small packet of biscuits.

great location and views of the sea. The bed and the linens were exceptional.

There was a sewage smell when the toilet was flushed. Our view was over the garbage collection point for the entire hotel (for over £400!). There was no bottled water provided. Check out of 11:00 feels early; we did not have an option for a late checkout. breakfast ending at 10:00 felt too early to close too. I used the spa for a massage. The massage bed heater was broken. The lounge chair I sat down on in the relaxation room was broken (the recliner remote did not work). The lighting in the makeup and hair drying area was too poor to do makeup. I had to do my makeup in the car. there were no Q-tips or cotton balls provided.

The hotel looks stunning from outside and the location is great right by the sea. The staff were all lovely and check in and out was quick with no problem that we were there over an hour early for their requested check in time. We were allowed to check in before 2pm instead of 3pm. So we were in our room by 2pm. It has a very relaxed atmosphere

There was no entertainment on the weekend we stayed. I think even piano music in the background would have been nice. We didn't like that it was a dog friendly hotel as I think it took away from the fact that it's a highly rated hotel and people have usually paid big money to stay . We have stayed before when dogs were not permitted and it was much better as not everyone are dog lovers and you don't expect to see dogs on leads inside a hotel . Having said that we did have a lovely stay and will diffinitally be back . Everything else was great and staff very helpful and friendly

The property is stunning, clean and beds are the most comfortable beds Youl ever sleep on. The location can’t get any better and the staff are so attentive and cannot do enough.

I have been to slieve donard many of times. This time was requested by my son for his birthday as he also loves it here. Unfortunately this stay we didn’t get any sleep due to other guests. First time Iv ever experienced this at the slieve Donard. It was a full hotel but between next door neighbours screaming the place down at each other for 2 hours then our room being situated above an area were guests go to smoke at 2am while being rowdy and drunk it really affected our stay this time around.
