The Avoca Hotel was ideally placed on the Newcastle sea front, with the room we stayed in looking newly decorated with enough space for me and my partner. The breakfast options were excellent with vegetarian options and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The reception team exceeded expectations by allowing us to have an additional half an hour after check out to get organised. Overall, a lovely stay.

I can't say there was anything that we didn't like. It would have been helpful to have a towel rail in the bathroom, rather than the hooks on the back of the door to hang our towels. Also for other customers, be aware that a sea view isn't always available if the hotel is busy. It would have been nice to have, but didn't affect how much we enjoyed our stay.

Question to what did we like? That would be everything! From the first moment of check in to our departure. We would more than highly recommend a stay at the Avoca Hotel. Not only for its amazing location directly across from the Irish Sea and walking distance to experience a lot of Newcastle and access to surrounding sites, but to its most amazing staff! The hotel is so very inviting and offers a very unique environment that can only enhance your visit to Newcastle. The hotel itself and the rooms are very clean with all necessary amenities provided. Tastefully decorated with attention to its upkeep which will only add to your Northern Irland experience. Upon our arrival and settling into our initial room with Annie at reception, we were aware of rooms that had a little seating area in a bay window that faced the sea to which we did not have. With a request to have that window seating Annie graciously took the time to let us view other rooms. Although nothing was available that night, Annie further left messages to our requests for her manager Nicola that may be addressed the next day. To our utter delight Siobhan at reception showed us a most spectacular room with a sea view and large bay window seating area to which they could accommodate us moving to. Siobhan said that they want everyone to be the happiest they could be with their stay at the Avoca Hotel. A true testimonial to that! Beyond that, the breakfast was wonderful with a variety of options for both food and coffee/tea and served with a smile and warmth from Jack. A wonderful way to start your day! And then after a full day of sight seeing you can return to the hotel and enjoying a cocktail at the well stocked bar served by the friendliest staff to include Leona, Mohit and Injaz before preparing for your evening out. We cannot say enough about the Avoca Hotel. We had an amazing stay in Newcastle and praise manager Nicola and her team in being a major factor in that!!!

Fantastic time, we went for 1 night but ended up staying for 2. The staff were excellent at accommodating us. The rooms were spotless, and the food in the restaurant was amazing, as was the breakfast. None of the horrible buffet breakfast. The fry was freshly cooked and tasted so good. The location was perfect. Every member of the staff were so professional and couldn't do enough to make you feel welcome. I've stayed in all the hotels previously in Newcastle and will only be going back to the Avoca, our new favourite 🥰 Hope to go back soon 😃

Took mum for her birthday! Hotel is in a perfect location on the promenade, the donard carpark is located directly behind to leave the car! Staff were attentive, down to earth and good service all round from hotel to bar! 10/10 Cocktails were to die for tried multiple variations from the menu all were 10/10 Food we had fish and chips honestly value for money and flavour was amazing actually perfect and portions were massive 10/10 The place has everything, super boujee our room had a sea view and comfy beds we loved it! The pub and beer garden is a super edition, Taylor Kerr the musician was super really added great atmosphere!

We got a lovely big room with a view of the mountains, if you lay back on the bed. The shower, bathroom, bed and everything else were of a good quality and it was spotlessly clean. The bar is lovely for drinks, the breakfast was also nice.

Parking is a little annoying as although there is a big free carpark nearby, we struggled for a space. The hotel seems a little understaffed and we had to make a request 3 times for something as staff seemed to be covering reception and the bar. All the staff were excellent however and really went the extra mile - perhaps someone phoned in sick, but definitely needed more people on.

The hotel was wonderful. Loads of space, towels, tea and coffee in room and very clean. Accessibility was good, short walk from the car park and also Hugh McCanns where we had been attending a wedding. We had stayed for a wedding and between the 7 of us we had no complaints. Breakfast the following morning was good, lots of choice and staff were pleasant and got through alot of people quickly and efficiently. We would definitely stay again maybe a sea view room and be able to enjoy the views. Though the room we had to the back of the hotel was lovely a quiet.

TV was hard to work but given it was early hours of the morning I give up lol. Thought I had booked a sea view family room but our room was nice and quiet.

From the moment we walked in , the staff were so friendly, especially Sarah at the front desk. We were there with my friend who was unwell and wanted a night with the girls. They couldn't of been more accommodating, rooms were lovely and beds so comfortable. They left a lovely birthday plate in the room. The breakfast was great , huge portions. a special shout out to the night porter also having to deal with me and my friend when we came back after a night out ... Will definitely come back . This was our first stay at The Avoca Hotel. We were greeted with a warm welcome and showed to our room, we had a super king-size bed it was sooo comfy. Room were spotless and spacious, tea/coffee kettle hairdryer etc and a really great walk in hot shower. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel both were delicious! Highly recommended the mussels and large fry. All the staff were so friendly and a pleasure to meet. Will definitely be back.

The rooms were spotless and the beds were so comfy. We have stayed here a few times and wouldn't pick any other hotel in Newcastle. Had dinner here 2 and the food was exceptional 😋.Staff were lovely helpful and friendly can't wait to come back again soon 10 stars all the way

Lovely staff. Bathroom could do with a radiator as it was very cold. Bedroom was nice and cosy although we were in one of the rooms outside which was not ideal. Lovely decor. Food tasty in restaurant/bar. Breakfast very basic. Could have more options. Great location. Would stay again
