The rooms are very well equiped and very comfortable. This is an old building and the stairs are steep, but tha is to be expected. Our room was a family room and therefore had a bath, which we could understand for a family, but as we are to older people in their 70's, this was far from ideal, but we managed. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast is exceptional. I would judge that this hotel is best suited to couples without children. A welcoming seated garden area with bar and bar food is a place to relax in the evenings. Parking was adequate with charging points, but very cramped.

Would have prefered a room with a shower not a bath.

We loved the 'everyday luxury' this gorgeous tiny hotel offers, from deliciously scented toiletries in the bathroom to complimentary gowns. Lovely selection of tea and coffee in the room too with a coffee pod machine and kettle. Lots of little thoughtful touches around the hotel too like fans in the rooms on a hot weekend. I'm 'dairy free' and this was catered for superbly after just one initial discussion at check in, down to having a dairy free butter dish ready on the table for me at breakfast and being given my own insulated jug of my preferred milk alternative for the room. There was a shared fridge on the first floor for fresh milk too. The outside bar and pizza was fantastic and offered a gorgeous little courtyard retreat on a sunny evening. They have blankets available so even when it gets cooler in the evening, you can stay out. Hand spun pizzas using local ingredients were delicious and once again, 'dairy free' was catered for with ease.

That we didn't stay longer!

A lovely, comfortable room with all the facilities I could wish for in a single room which nevertheless felt spacious enough. Everything clean and in excellent order, tastefully decorated and with good ensuite facilities. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice, very well cooked and presented, and served in an attractive and atmospheric dining area. The Bridge House uses locally sourced produce a lot and the quality shone through. Lots of little details such as a guests fridge with milk to use in rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times.

This stay was above my normal price bracket due to booking very last minute, but was nevertheless worth every penny.

The location was excellent only a short walk along the main road to all of the pubs, restaurants and shops. The overall feel of The Bridge House was lovely, very quirky and beautifully decorated for Christmas. The breakfast was delicious, lots of choice on cooked food and a decent but smaller choice of cereals, fruit and pastries etc. we had the Dorset breakfast and it definitely set us up for the day. The staff were all friendly and the service was mainly very good although a little slow if they were busy. It was also very handy to have onsite parking.

Unfortunately when making the booking the only room available for the dates we wanted was a ‘cosy’ room, the room was definitely on the smaller side but we managed. We did however struggle with the shower as it was a corner shower so smaller than normal. Also a shelf above the sink would have been useful to put toothbrushes etc. instead of balancing them on the sink edge. The only problem we had was when we came back about 8.40pm one evening and went to the reception desk which is supposed to be staffed until 10pm to get some toilet roll for our room. We rang the bell (and we could hear it ringing) at least 8-10 times over a 25 minute period and no one answered. We ended up having to go into the toilets near the dining room and get some from there!!!

The host and staff were exceptional and helped in any way they could, breakfast was superb with plenty of choice and the evening snacks that were available if you wanted them were very filling , the cheese board was huge and more than enough for two sharing as was the charcuterie. Our room in the attic was small although very well equipped with toiletries and hair dryer iron and ironing board. The location is perfect for walking into Bridport and ideal for touring around Dorset. the nearest beach is West Bay only 5mins by car and a slow 20min walk. there was enough on sight parking for about 6 cars. The outside bar and garden area is ideal for relaxing with a glass of wine. It is a dog friendly hotel.

The room was too small for a longer stay as there are three flights of stairs to the attic rooms. older guests might struggle if not very mobile.

The breakfasts were excellent and the staff friendly. No complaints atall but as somebody who uses a stick the steps to the front of the hotel and stairs were slightly problematic. As this is a listed building I assume there are some upgrades that cannot be implemented. However it would be good to know this when booking. On the whole a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location with a wonderful garden which was an ideal location in the gorgeous weather we had.

Hotel, spotles Clean,. Very helpful friendly staff. 👌 we stayed I room 11, plenty tea & coffee, even fresh milk in a little fridge on your landing. All hand sanitiser, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, body lotion and bubble bath were provided, even cotton buds and cotton wool balls. Dressing gowns and the towels were so fluffy. Very good choice of breakfast and as I am on a diet the breakfast was grilled, so that was great 👍 I don't think there was anything they didn't have. Beautiful little garden bar, very quirky, bar man was attentive and very friendly. If bar is closed, they even have a honesty bar, you help yourself and write it down and pay later. How cool is that! Would I stay again, I didn't want to come home !!

Absolutely everything!!! The owners have really thought this through... Friendly staff, interesting artefacts, an honesty bar indoors, a beautiful garden bar, plus a grassy area near the river! All the garden furniture is wooden, there are loads of pretty plants and flowers wverywhere- it's such a wonderful place 💗 The bedrooms are fantastic- oldy worldy, but in a welcoming and comfortable way! Definitely no shabby chic aka rubbish, and everything anyone could possibly need, including decaf teas and coffees, fresh milk kept in a little fridge to help yourself from, shower gels, shampoo, conditioner etc. The shower was powerful too! The breakfasts were wonderful, and dog treats left ready for Room 1's little dog 🐾 The owners pay such great attention to detail and the whole experience was completely wonderful! There's also secondary glazing in the sash windows to keep road noise out. There are roller blinds and heavy curtains to keep the light out and a heater/fan to maintain ambient temperature. We absolutely loved The Bridge House 💗

Everything was perfect! There's nothing to complain about!

A beautiful period house decorated in keeping with its age and full of interest. Our room was well appointed, dinky but we expected that. It was lovely, clean and warm. The owners and staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and made us very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast offering was excellent, a good choice of fruit, cereal, hot drinks etc and the cooked breakfast menu was extensive and catered for all tastes. The vegetarian option was first class. Located a 5 minute walk into the main town we found this perfect, close to restaurants, coffee shops etc but away from the hustle and bustle. A bus stop was just opposite the hotel if you didn’t want to use the car for exploring. The hotel had a handy car park for guest use and the pretty garden was a quiet haven for relaxing with a bar facility. There was also a communal guest lounge for guests to use.All in all the Bridge House was the perfect choice for us.

We have no negative comments

We stayed in the family room. I was staying with my elderly mother and my dog. The room itself was almost perfect with lots of little nice touches including treats and a blanket for my dog.

The family room is accessed via some steep stairs. This was not ideal for my 93 year old mother but to be fair, Bridge House had notified me of this beforehand. Also, the room faces out to the main road with obvious noise accordingly but it wasn't too bad at all and didn't particularly bother us, though it may others.
