Location was a beautiful quiet village in the countryside, well situated to reach other places like Braemar/Balmoral, etc The hotel was a country pub style with very friendly staff. Rooms were clean and tidy and the bed was very comfy. We had an evening meal here and the food was great, everything we had (4 of us) was fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Breakfast choice in the morning was very varied and made fresh. Highly recommend this hotel and the owners and staff couldn't do enough for us.

They need to update their background music and remove Christmas songs from the list that played during dinner, but that small issue did not ruin a very pleasant stay.

The food was excellent, both breakfasts and evening meals. Pubby, but prepared with care and with good ingredients. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room was large and comfortable. Tarland is a good base for travelling both east to the coast or west to Braemar or Balmoral.

Tarland itself is quiet - there is not much to do or see on the doorstep (but there are a couple of nice woodland walks). I would have preferred a duvet, rather than sheets and blankets, on our bed.

Friendly welcome, good evening meal, adequate room and the best part, a very peaceful sleep.

Breakfast let it down. American breakfast was poor quality, only one slice of fatty bacon, was not nice. Pancakes were tasteless, possibly shop bought. Scrambled egg was the only nice part. Scottish breakfast, sausage was black burnt. Toast was served cold. Continental choice was limited and not appealing at all, more so with a fly buzzing around it all.

Rooms were well furnished with plenty of tea and coffee provided in room, good sized en-suite bathroom with good quality towels, property clean and well kept with two outside areas for drinks, Staff very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you a testament to the property. Great location for Tarland Trails 2 and other mountain bike trails. Locals very friendly and approachable. Food from the restaurant was exceptional.

Bike Storage was available but with other items stored in it belonging to the property on our first night it made it difficult to get our bikes in due to other bikes already occupying the space available, with the new cycle trails close by a larger storage area for bikes could be beneficial for future bookings.

My room was quiet, cosy, comfy and had coffee/tea with a nice biscuit if required. Evening tea was good, Breakfast was good, loads of variety from cereal, fruit yogurt and a variety of cooked options. Staff were very helpful. Set in a lovely location with loads of outdoor activities on the doorstep.

I have nothing to add. Suited me

At breakfast the scrambled eggs were perfect and the brown bread was very good. The cooked Scottish breakfast was excellent too, delicious (local butcher's?) bacon, sausage, haggis and farm (?) eggs plus more delicious brown bread toast. The pillow was the best I have ever used away from home and I meant to ask which brand it was!

I'm not a fan of Tetley tea so was disappointed to see this brand in my room although the Clipper Organic Decaf tea was a bonus. The pot of coffee at breakfast was also a disappointment so for the following day I asked for a cappuccino and it was better.

The staff were extremely lovely, friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and well-appointed, with comfortable beds. Particularly appreciated the large charging slabs with USB ports. The food was good, both breakfasts and dinners - the cheesecake was phenomenal. The pub was cosy and comfortable.

Nothing!

Breakfast was fine. Good selection of cereals etc. Hotel a bit old fashioned but bedrooms had been made over and were really lovely.

Evening meal on the Saturday was awful but after I complained I wasn't charged for it. Toilet seat in my en suite didn't fit the porcelain toilet so moved every time you sat on it!

Room was fantastic. The food was brilliant. The Staff were friendly. Great off street parking.

Obviously it is directly above a pub so there were some very unsavoury conversions being held directly below from 10pm onwards. This was only on the Saturday night. Just something to be aware of if you have kids

What a completely pleasant surprise to find such friendly staff in a great hotel and pub. That such a place exists in such a wee village was really surprising. A great stay, would fully recommend the restaurant as well, great food and a really good menu.

Nothing.
