I recently stayed at In the Shed Hotel for four nights, and my experience was fantastic. Staff: The hotel staff and owners were exceptionally welcoming and professional. A special thanks to Maggie and Patrick for their outstanding hospitality. From check-in to check-out, they went above and beyond—offering restaurant recommendations, booking excursions, and even arranging a driver for us. Cleanliness: The hotel was impeccably maintained. Fresh towels and linens were always available, and the common areas, including the pool, were spotless. Location: The hotel is ideally situated, just a short walk from Tamarindo Beach. It’s surrounded by a variety of restaurants and shops, making it a convenient and lively place to stay.

I loved that the property was tucked away on a quiet street, yet still within walking distance to the beach and plenty of restaurants. Cute touch of the cafe being here for any coffee , smoothies or lunch ! The food is 10/10 ! Patrick, the owner, was so welcoming and created a truly hospitable atmosphere. Sandra went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable and even helped me organize anything I needed. The staff overall were very friendly, the place was spotless, and the pool was both beautiful and relaxing. I’d definitely come back again!

Absolutely LOVED my stay at In The Shade from beginning to end!✨ The staff and owners are exceptional… very kind, helpful and knowledgeable. Their weekly Thursday evening social is a lovely way to meet other travellers and share experiences! My room was immaculate and the outdoor mini kitchen was perfect for a longer stay! The location of the hotel is perfect as it’s located on a side street within walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants and the beach. The secure entry gate w code is an added bonus for safety! (Not that I ever felt unsafe as a solo female traveller… I found the area to be super safe). Would highly recommend this hotel and plan to be back again next winter! It gets a solid 10 from me! Tamarindo is not our favorite beach town, but this hotel is tucked away and the perfect location on a quiet road just off the main stretch. We were greeted with such hospitality and even allowed a very early check-in after a long flight, which was a very good start to our trip. The rooms were quiet and clean. Beds were super comfortable, fast Wi-Fi throughout the property and the pool was amazing. There was a large supermarket right across the street and you were within walking distance to everything. This will definitely be our Tamarindo spot from here forward. Thank you guys!

Maggie, one of the managers, kicks a$$ - she was super friendly and helpful. All the staff were great. The Deluxe King Room was spacious and clean, and the A/C worked almost too well. The shower had very hot water and great water pressure. We enjoyed the large balcony which had a table and chairs. The food and smoothies at the Cafe were absolutely amazing. They provide unlimited filtered water and towels for the pool and beach. We really appreciated the social they hold on Thursday evenings, which allowed us to meet the awesome owners and other travelers; afterward, a group of us went to the Night Market and then a bar together.

We couldn't get into our Netflix on the TV and couldn't figure out how to search for Hulu, but we also didn't ask anyone for help, so maybe we were missing something. The shower could use a deep clean and the balcony table and chairs could use a scrub, but that's it!

We had an amazing stay at this hotel! Sandra at the reception was incredible—she welcomed us warmly and gave us plenty of recommendations for events and restaurants in the area. The hotel’s location was perfect, and everything was spotlessly clean. One of the highlights was being able to borrow beach towels, chairs, and a cooler every day, which made our beach outings so much better. Additionally, the hotel offered free filtered water for all guests, which was a great touch. On Thursdays, the hotel hosts a small event with beers and snacks, and we were lucky to arrive on that day—it was such a fun way to kick off our stay. We also used the hotel’s laundry service, which was reasonably priced and super convenient, with our laundry ready the same day. Breakfast was delicious and offered at very affordable prices. Our room was a good size with a small wardrobe that fit all our belongings. The bathroom was perfect—the best we experienced in Costa Rica—with excellent water pressure and always hot water. We highly recommend staying at this hotel!

Piece and quite. The owners are just wonderful people and so is the staff. I stayed at another awefull hotel and moved here. This hotel saved my trip, before flying home. I cannot write enough GOOD and NICE things about adult hotel. They took such good care of me. Arranged tours. Kept me informed on whattsapp with restaurants to eat ect. I will recommed this adult hotel 200% to everyone. I would come again. Shops and restaurants are only 5 min. away and still nice and quiet place to stay and sleep. I had such a nice room on the first floor and also used the swimmingpool. I loved staying here. Again, the staff was very helpful and nice and the owners too.

I loved everything.

Friendly and helpful staff. Very spacious room with super large and very comfortable bed. Good air conditioning system, large wardrobe with safe and very hot and powerful shower. The swimming pool was lovely and of a very good size. The hotel location is great as right in the centre of Tamarindo, close to bars, restaurants, shops and the beach but yet it’s very quiet as set back from the main road. The only bit of noise came from the adjacent restaurant but it was all over by 10:00/10:30PM. The hotel offers free coffees in the morning and there is filtered water available 24hrs a day. The whole place was extremely clean and great to be able to park the car on the premises.

We really liked the hotel and were very pleased with our choice. To make the experience even better it would have been great if breakfast was included in the price, as not a budget accommodation.

This was a great stay. Rooms are simple, clean & comfortable. Good AC & ceiling fan kept the temperature just perfect. Staff were super helpful, friendly & responsive. Really nice folks. Owners were on site & made a point of introducing themselves & hosting a social hour on Thursday. I felt very safe & welcome. Pool was perfect for short lap swimming, sunning & cooling off. Maintenance person was onsite - very quick to respond to a few minor issues. There is a very good breakfast, lunch service, good cook, nice variety at a reasonable price. Consistent quality. Appreciated the discount for settling the bill in cash. Minutes from markets and the beach. Connected me to all the transfers I needed and an outstanding surf instructor.

Couple of minor comments - the rooms are quite simple and the available desk space in the room is limited, making it not so easy to work from your room. There is a shared working space in the reception area which is great and totally adequate but it would be nice to have a little more desk space in the room. Other item I would comment on was the kitchen space is not as well furbished if you are hoping to do some cooking - utensils and cookware are adequate but could be upgraded. Also the convection stove top was a bit of a mystery

I can say this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in Costa Rica. The breakfast can't be better. I felt very safe during my trip. It has parking, which is a plus. The Location is simply the best; you can walk to the beach without any problems, and it's also far enough from the noise of Tamarindo. The pool was amazing and very clean. I'll be back :)
