Very quaint and comfortable room with John as the perfect host, very friendly and helpful with lots of advice and full of local stories. The house was of high standard within minutes of walking distance to the village centre. Bed was very comfortable and great to see a working TV with lots of channels. Had use of the top floor which gave me lots of space. Breakfast was healthy but very tasty, John was very accommodating making me an omelette with smoked salmon and parma ham. I ate my evening meal in the Buccleuch Hotel and parked my bike securely overnight for a small fee, great biker vibe. I will definitely consider making a return in the future.

Nothing as everything was as I'd hoped for.

The top floor of John’s notably clean home provides guests with a spacious characterful room with comfortable bed, tea/coffee making area and a large bathroom. There are steep stairs on the lowest level, which may be a challenge for some but well worth the effort. John met us with a warm welcome into his historic house, helped us with our bags and provided a wholesome Scottish breakfast; he proved to be engaging, entertaining and a mine of information about the local area. Our stay in the charming B&B Kirkview House exceeded our expectations in many ways. The house itself was impeccably clean and centrally located, allowing us to easily explore all the sights on foot. There are few things more welcome after a long day in the city. The room was cozy and the bed very comfortable. Particularly noteworthy was the private bathroom with bathtub that we had at our disposal. But what truly made our stay memorable was the people running the place. In this case, we were fortunate to meet John, the owner of the B&B. John is a true gentleman who takes exceptional care of his guests with unmatched warmth. Each morning, he prepared a delicious breakfast that set us up for the day, and his charming stories made us feel as though we were catching up with an old friend. All in all, we can wholeheartedly recommend this B&B. Thank you John for everything.

Where do I start. By far the most amazing place we have stayed in for many years. John is a wonderful and knowledgable man who I could spend hours talking with. His property is beautiful and maintained to the highest standard. Never before have we had breakfast cooked for us by the host in front of us. Absolutely amazing and a change from the traditional breakfast. 10/10 doesn’t give this property and owner true justice. He is one of lives true characters and we hope to revisit again in the future. In fact as we start our journey on the NC500 in our camper van, the thought of that comfy bed does make we wish we were back there.!!!!! Thanks again John. Your a star.!!!!

Nothing. Amazing place and host.

John our host was very friendly and helpful with information. We had the whole top floor to ourselves. The bedroom was spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The BIG bathroom across the landing was delightful. There was plenty of choice offered to us for breakfast but we chose scramble eggs which John prepared and cooked for us, my how it set us up for our journey onwards to Skye. The location to the town and parking very convenient. Would stay again.

The only thing was the stairs. Just took my time. We were well aware of the stairs before we booked. Once up there very private and lovely sights of the Kirk and town.

Bed & Breakfast, superb in every respect.John was a perfect host who went an extra mile(or two)to make our visit memorable. What a delightfully restored house of which John is justly proud . We felt privileged to share it for a brief time. Moffat is a lovely quiet small town with a theatre hosting the local Moffat Music Society and other events, very friendly people wherever we went.Fantastic countryside drives on quiet roads.Sorry I can only give a ten score John undoubtedly worth a full bottle (70cl)of Laphroig IMHO. Tried Claudios Italian restaurant ,excellent and Brodies afternoon teas again first rate!! Thanks we hope to return.

No negative aspects for us at all.

Location was excellent, just off the main town area. The room was exceptional, just as the pictures showed and much larger than expected. the breakfast was out of this world, a lovely change from a fry up. The host was a lovely guy, very informative, loads of local knowledge and plenty of stories to tell, exceptionally helpful when we turned up early. Definitely a place to recommend to others and to stop again. If I had to give a score it would be 11 out of 10!!

The house is gorgeous and John is the most courteous of hosts. Friendly and accommodating, it was a pleasure to stay at his property. The room is spacious and beautifully decorated, with lovely views of the nearby farms and little church across the street. We were greeted in the morning with fresh coffee, a delicious breakfast and great conversation to boot. I would highly recommend this stay to friends and family, and would absolutely stay again. A huge thank you to John for making us feel at home!

The breakfast was excellent. Freshly cooked in front of you and plenty of it. John is excellent host and we will certainly be back again when we travel to and from family in Scotland. This is one of those places you want to keep to your self and not share with anyone else. Moffat itself is a lovely little town and the parking is free!

There is nothing not to like about Kirkwall. The only thing I would say is that you have several flights of stairs to climb to reach the accommodation.

Very helpful and friendly host. Lots of information and advice sent before arrival. The property has lots of character with eclectic decor. Great location, right in town. Had the top floor to ourselves. Had a lovely and special breakfast with beautiful scrambled eggs and delicious smoked salmon.

It was a surprise to be eating in the kitchen at first but John quickly put us at ease with his friendly and welcoming chat. This is not a critique, just unexpected.
