Room was large and accommodated my family of 5 well

Bathroom did not have a lock. Someone getting stabbed there by an employee while I was there

So close to Windansea beach! Great location as well to restaurants, bars etc. we had a car rental so can only say it was a short drive for these places, can't give a walking score. The rooms were very clean and I appreciated the nice soap,shampoo, conditioner, body wash that was offered. The front desk staff were very lovely to deal with! There is a hot tub and heated pool on site but we didn't use them, however they did look clean!

I understand this is a motel style accommodation, however the room didn't have any heat. There is only an AC unit. This would be great on warmer days but the nights got down to 9 degrees Celsius and it was very chilly in our room.

Location was perfect not only to WindnSea Beach but also for restaurants, coffee or a stroll. Yes, it's possible to do that in LaJolla. The rooms were nicely done, the beds so comfortable and the staff so sweet and helpful. They have beach bikes, beach towels, pool, a real outside shower, hose to rinse off the sand, beach chairs and floaties for the kids plus a spa and washer & dryer. There is an area outside with a beautiful fire pit away from the pool area. One parking space per room which is $15 per night however you can walk literally everywhere. Parking in LaJolla is hard to find so this is perfect. It's very quiet + the rooms have blackout curtains for sleeping in. They serve coffee in the lobby or you can make your own with a Keurig in your room.

We liked the location, the rooms were well appointed and comfortable. There were laundry facilities for a small fee which was great. A cute little pool and hot tub and the staff were very friendly.

The rooms were noisy. Get an upstairs room if you can as being downstairs meant you could hear every footstep of those above. I did not appreciate my email address being shared with other guests. It’s advertise as free parking but there is a $15 per night fee. Not huge but should be made clear

Five minute walk to a beautiful beach. A few local places to eat and we enjoyed a Chinese takeaway which was about 3 minute walk from the hotel. Easy to get into San Diego and surrounding areas. The staff are friendly and helpful, Alice was more than helpful with advice and help during our stay. We spoke several times to Trisha the hotel manager and the friendliness definitely starts from the top down. In reception there was a tea and coffee machine which was complementary to guest and sachets of porridge for those who needed a quick breakfast fix. Oh, and we were guest of the day so enjoyed free parking during our stay and late check out free too. There was also an hour free bike hire which we didn’t take up. The sunset was amazing from the local beach

Staff, esp Alice and Tricia, were so friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable. Location was very handy for the beach, which was located at the end of the street, down a hill in an area that felt very safe. Less than 10 minute drive to La Jolla village. Everything was very clean and seems to have been recently renovated. Free parking available in their lot, could be right if you have a big car/truck. Wifi and AC work very well. We had no issues during our 2 night stay. Highly recommend.

The staff at the reception were extremely nice and helpful. The resort itself was renovated and in a pretty good location. Overall very pleasant for 1-2 nights. I wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay.

If you have problems with noise ask for a room on the top floor. We were downstairs and could hear everything from upstairs. It's a shame that for parking you need to pay extra (but there is this information on booking so it is fair).

The location was good could walk to the beach.

The rooms could use some sound proofing. You hear everything from upstairs and next door.When people walk by your door you hear them like they are in your room. The street work was very loud, it started very earlier in the morning we were told that they were working down the street and we wouldn’t really hear them but you heard everything. I know this is not the hotels fault, but it added to the noise level.

We absolutely loved how close it was to La Jolla Beach, but soon realized that beach was not meant for kids! Lol. Tricia at the Shoal is so personable and welcoming. She let us keep our stroller in the office overnight when she saw us trying to take it up the stairs. She texted to check in on us and she was an absolute pleasure.

The only thing I did not like about the room was the sliding bathroom door. For a shared room, it lacks privacy & the rolling of the door wakes up the other bed at night.
