The location of Inn by the Sea is excellent. You could park the car and not use it during your entire stay. Beach is 5-6 minutes away, as well as a large variety of restaurants and stores. The balcony was lovely, the beds were comfortable. The pool and guest lounge area is also very lovely - pool was nice and warm! The staff were also exceptionally friendly and helpful - lots of recommendations!

The room cleanliness was a 7/10 for me, not bad but some things could’ve used a deeper clean.

This property is truly a hidden gem and deserves better representation. The current photos don’t do it justice - it could really benefit from professional photography. I arrived with modest expectations based on the images, but was pleasantly surprised by how thoughtfully designed and well-maintained the hotel is. The rooms are spacious, well-carpeted, and ours even had a lovely balcony. The staff were outstanding - incredibly polite and genuinely helpful. They even made an exception to extend laundry hours for us, which we really appreciated. The location is fantastic. While it’s not directly on the waterfront, you can see the sea from the upper floors. It’s an easy walk to the most charming parts of La Jolla, including the beach, where you can relax and watch the seals. La Jolla is a beautiful place, and this hotel was the perfect base to enjoy it from. We loved our stay and would definitely return.

Loved the friendly staff, greeted us with a smile & remembered us! Loved the free teas/coffees, soft bedsheets, comfy rooms. Felt clean and safe. We went back a couple of times!

Fridge made humming sounds, paint chipping, overall a little tired/dated. Would be lovely if revamped/renovated. Towels also quite old. Soundproofing not the best, but only when other guests using showers. Otherwise clean and safe.

Our second night in La Jolla was spent at the Inn By the Sea and it was fantastic! Juan at the front desk was so warm and welcoming! The self-parking option was well worth the $15 as it allows in and out privileges without hassling anyone. The peace and quiet of La Jolla provided a respite from reality! The location was wonderful as well because it was within 3 pleasant walks of walking to the seals, sea lions, sea birds, etc. There are LOTS of dining options ranging from budget to expensive within immediate proximity; and all kinds of promo coupons available at the front desk!! The double queen beds were much appreciated as well. The staff at Inn By The Sea work very hard to maintain the property. We visited during March and most likely avoided the super crazy busy high visitor season, so it was really pleasant and chill. Hope to return sometime soon! Thank you all for making part of our spring break 2025 trip so much fun!

Absolutely nothing!

Easy walking to various restaurants, shopping, the beach, banks, even the post office. Rooms were comfortable. Nice pool and guest lounge.

The parking situation is unacceptable. The first 2 nights we had to park on the street. Their “parking lot” is underground and could not be accessed with my rental car because it was too tall (VW Atlas). And besides there’s no elevator access from the garage to the lobby. It’s ridiculous to have to shlep luggage up the driveway, halfway around the block to the front entrance to get an elevator to the upper floors. So no one parks there.

Switched room and new room want as nice so switched back because heat came on. They offered us upgrade but we just wanted to get to sleep.... Maybe should have given us one of those small bottles of wine at front desk. But very nice. Parking was 20 a night. Didn't expect. Parked right in front of property for free on Sat night/Sunday. Great shower in original room because it was accessible room. Very nice coffee machine in lounge but milk was out. Overall, pretty much of a find in a very fancy area.

Inn By the Sea exceeded our expectations. We booked 2 rooms for family and both of us enjoyed our partial ocean view from our room and balcony. Parking was easy and cost $20. They allowed us to park after checkout while we went out to eat. There was coffee in the morning in the lobby and all day coffee from a machine in a room by the pool. We didn't have a chance to use the pool because we spent most of our time walking around the area, visiting the beaches, and enjoying watching the seals and sea lions. We walked to dinner and breakfast. So many great options for food in the area. Based on the great location and the cost of the room compared to other local options, I would stay at the Inn By the Sea again.

Other people were very loud on their balcony at 1-3 am. You would think the lobby staff would quiet them down. Expensive for how the place looked.

Everything! From beginning to finish this was a top notch experience. Elizabeth was very welcoming and wrote down several restaurant suggestions (which were both excellent- esp Richard’s for breakfast). We LOVED the filtered water stations and the lovely lounge area. my girls especially loved the hot chocolate machine! Pool looked lovely but we didn’t swim, as weather did not permit. Water pressure and hot temp of shower was phenomenal. We appreciated the price point for the location and overall quality- very affordable for a family. Thank you all for such a memorable stay- we can’t wait to come back someday!

I overpaid alot even though I booked my trip months in advance. I've never been to a hotel that charged me for parking. And 20 dollars for parking is crazy
