The room we got when we first arrived was not renovated, old, needed repairs and was uncomfortable but we were moved the next day to a much nicer newly renovated room and loved and enjoyed the rest of our stay. Management and a couple of staff members went out of their way to fix this issue and make us happy. Mgt even compted our parking for the 2 days.

I did not like the fact they charge for parking when that should be part of your stay .They also charge the people off the street for parking too .

I have stayed at the Suites for years and always enjoy it. The location, staff, rooms, value, are all positives.

It is getting more expensive by the year, so it's harder for families like mine to afford it. I'd rather it not go too upscale and price out folks like us. Also, there were two nights with rooftop parties that were extremely loud. Turn down the volume, as we felt we were right next to the speakers. Bring back free breakfast, which had been a staple for many years.

The staff was great and the place had a fun aesthetic. It had a 1950s-motel vibe. Also, the location was great: right across from the beach and easy walking (for me) to most places in La Jolla. (You do need to go up a hill, so if you have mobility issues, you might need a car.)

The door to my room needed a shove/pull to close all the way (not the end of the world, but something I needed to be conscious of). Also, there was a leak in my room, which the staff was very helpful about, and got fixed and cleaned up while I was out.

Absolutely gorgeous room with million dollar views! Be sure to book in the renovated Pines Building and you won't be disappointed! The bad reviews are from people who booked in the older rooms thinking they were getting the remodeled rooms. I would be happy in the older rooms as well because the location of this hotel can't be beat! Walking distance to the beach and any restaurants and shops you could want! Staff were fantastic as well!

I love the renovated side and the view from the balcony.

The pillows are awful. I don’t think the hot tub should close at 10:00. I think with all the weddings that happen you should invest in something else for families to like not close the libraries, hot tub etc.. the main reason people that stay is for the roof top. The wedding parties get to enjoy themselves and we go to bed with awful pillows. The coffee area with fire pits even closes early.

The view!!!!! Suite was perfect. 2 rooms 2 baths just right for travel with adult children. Close to the cove with Sea Lions and a wide variety of birds. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. A great experience. We will return. Kristina at the front desk was courteous and professional. 5 stars!

Overall excellent location, views, rooms. It was a nice touch to provide a new mini-fridge. The kitchen is dated. I understand, though, that it is getting updated. They also provided a newer microwave which was thoughtful.

The location is phenomenal. Easy to go on walks with breathtaking views of the ocean and marine life, or stroll in La Jolla village to shop, or eat in one of the delicious restaurants (Puesto, Catania...). It's an amazing location for open water swimmers. I love to just cross the street and go for a 1 mile swim in the ocean (lifeguards on duty, showers available and plenty of incredible marine life).

The view was incredible. We loved that we had a terrace to sit on and enjoy the ocean view. The bed was very comfortable. We were happy to have a small kitchenette.

The walk up to our room was challenging to say the least. We counted 84 steps from the lobby to our room and these were some steep steps. There was no elevator access to our room.

The location was awesome The 2 bedroom new apartment was a great size and the bathrooms were immaculate. Loved the coffee machine and coffee that was supplied. Staff were lovely and the cafe's downstairs coffee was sooo nice too. Having a pool and hot tub was a welcome bonus.

Not having a kitchen in the apartment. We had quite a few food items to use and our room change meant we didn't have a kitchen. A microwave would have been sufficient with a few bowls and cutlery. Paying for parking shouldn't be necessary if you are staying at an accomodation.
