The property was clean with a good location. The staff was friendly and really tried to make up for anything lacking.

There were only a few things that could’ve used improvement. The first thing is, there is no air conditioning in any of the units. The second thing is the lighting. It is very dim in the rooms and not great lighting for getting ready. The shower also had very low water pressure and a small Thin curtain that made it messy to take a shower. Some of the furniture looked old and dated with chipped paint along with an outdated alarm clock that have been preset to an early alarm time. It woke me up, unnecessarily on my day off.

From the moment I arrived the Hospitality Manager Rishi was so welcoming and graciuos. He set me up in a wonderful balcony room, and acclimated me on the various restaurants & places to visit. The office has choices of juice and sparkling waters, fresh fruit, cereals, energy bars, etc. The room was clean & neat with a coffee station. The location is very close to the beach, 17 mile drive, golf courses, and a short drive to various attractions. Plenty of parking spaces and the staff on site were always friendly & pleasant.

Wi-fi in the area is iffy...be sure to get the Sunset Inn wi-fi access for best reception.

Light continental breakfast; helpful and accommodating staff. Sunsets views at the water are literally right around the corner.

Nothing - this was perfect for what was required! This property is not a high end, facility loaded place. It serves as perfect central place to return after a day of activities. Offering more would defeat the purpose and increase costs for things not utilized.

This hotel is well located, especially if you want to enjoy the bike-ability of this area. We brought bikes and the hotel was far enough from town to enjoy a sunset ride along the beach to restaurants but still close enough for an easy ride home after dinner.

Sunset Inn provides simple, clean, comfortable accommodations in close proximity to the beach and also the road and parking lot traffic. We loved this stay and would recommend it for low maintenance travelers that are not in need of a silent retreat and appreciate simple comfort and easy accommodations.

With a late night flight arrival and a two-hour drive from the airport, we arrived at The Sunset Inn at about 1:30 am - and were greeted warmly (after calling, per instructions, to ensure someone would be present at the front desk to help us) and provided coffee/hot chocolate and a bite to eat, even at this crazy early hour. Our room was comfortable, exceptionally clean and met one one-night-stay purpose (we live locally). Because our arrival was so uncommon, the front desk individual even offered a noon check-out versus the standard 11:00 am check-out time. We even enjoyed the complimentary breakfast choices - donuts, breads, juices, coffee, cereals, yogurt, an expanded continental breakfast for guests. If the need arose again, we wouldn't think of booking a room anywhere else!

Great location within walking distance of Pacific Grove beach point. Also 20-30 min walk to restaurants if you want. 10-15min car drive to aquarium and whale watching (highly recommended, almost guaranteed sightings) Very friendly and helpful staff. Chalets looks great with seating area outside and all usual facilities. Clean and well maintained. The breakfast is basic continental and small seating area outside or outside your chalet room. Also coffee, water and snacks available throughout day.

It’s just a basic breakfast that’s all.

- The room was clean and large enough - The room had a nice ambient temperature for the time of year. - Good safe parking facilities (cameras all over) - Breakfast pretty reasonable for US standards (US doesn't do breakfast like European Continental 😑 ) - Staff very efficient and friendly - The location to price ratio is just absolutely wonderful. Beautiful short walk down to the stunning shoreline. Be sure to check th sunset out!! The price for this location in Monterey was excellent 👍 👍

Breakfast was okay but just not up to European standards.

Everything was great, and it felt like our trip was enhanced by the excellent service of this hotel. I originally booked a King Suite for one night, but because the King Suite was on the second floor and we had two 23kg suitcases which was very inconvenient for us to move around, so we decided to switch to a room on the ground floor temporarily. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived at around 6 or 7 in the evening, and they not only helped us find a suitable room but also helped us carry our luggage. The ground floor room was not as large as the one on the second floor, but overall it was still quite nice. The entire room was heated by a fireplace, which made it very cozy.

The rooms seem a bit small and could be expanded.

Sunset inn is a true gem. Beautiful, safe, quiet area just a 5 minute walk to the ocean or Lighthouse. Updated clean grounds and rooms, with everything you need, and parking is safe and easy. Rishi at the front desk is amazing, so welcoming and full of area tips. We truly appreciated how extremely friendly and helpful he was. The lobby is quaint and lovely with complimentary juices, coffees, teas and snacks offered throughout the day. We will be making this one of our regular place to stay as we visit the Monterey area often. Looking forward to staying again soon.

We loved everything!

The staff was wonderful! Incredibly warm, accommodating, and welcoming. We were assured numerous times that "this was our home for the stay." You can hear the ocean from the room at night. Beds are exceptionally comfortable. Water pressure in the showers was amazing.

Nothing negatively affected my experience staying here. That being said, the breakfast was basic - cereal, fruit, yogurt, and toast. This was fine for me, but may not meet your expectations if you are expecting a sit-down meal or buffet. Wifi was sometimes slow, but this is probably due to the proximity to the ocean.
