Perfectly located, the hotel and the staff provided a very memorable experience of Amsterdam. Very creatively refurbished rooms paired with attentive and precise communication. We stayed at the cozy room in the basement, which provided a glimpse of past housing standards with luxury comfort. The only downside of this room was some unpredictable noise levels from spontaneous gatherings of people late night in front, but the disturbance was limited and the staff listened to recommendations on how to possibly mitigate the effect. From the moment I arrived, the hotel’s uniqueness stood out—rooms are named instead of numbered, each reflecting the theme of its décor. I stayed in The Instrument Maker, a cozy room perfectly designed for one adult. Despite its small (emphasis on SMALL) size, clever design and thoughtful touches made it feel comfortable and welcoming. A bottle of sparkling wine awaited in the fridge, and a personalized printed welcome letter and candies left in the room made the experience feel extra special. The room had a beautiful view of the canal, the bathroom was well equipped, and the breakfast in the morning was divine. I loved how every detail, from the piano-key desk to the instrument-themed décor, was thoughtfully curated.

The only minor suggestion would be a luggage rack in the room to place your suitcase behind the door. This would be an addition and did not detract from an otherwise excellent stay. This hotel is a gem for anyone seeking a personal, carefully designed, and memorable stay in the center of town.

As someone who has stayed at easily 15+ hotels in Amsterdam in the last few years, the Craftsmen sets the bar extremely high! I stayed in the Tiny Room - Bookbinder, and while it may be small, it certainly is mighty. The bathroom is equipped with a Dyson hairdryer, Molton Brown hair & skin care, and the actual design of the bathroom and shower is really comfortable and functional. The room itself also is well organised, with a lovely view overlooking the canal. The room had a Dyson Hot+Cool unit, which is pretty quiet and helped cool the room down super quickly as well. The breakfast (which was included in my room rate) is really delicious and plentiful. There is a variety of baked pastries to select from, and yogurt, mini pancakes, fresh orange juice, cold cuts, egg, etc. This is not your normal hotel breakfast, this is an experience. Finally. what makes the Craftsmen stand out is their staff. Customer service is alive and well at this boutique hotel. I left my airpods case at breakfast and didn't realise for quite some time. The staff texted me to tell me I had forgotten them, and put them back in my room so I wouldn't loose them. I also had to leave my bags on my check-in date several hours earlier (like 9:30am) than check-in time. When I finally made it back to the hotel, my bags were in my room and the check-in process could not have been easier. All in all, I can't recommend this hotel more. It will now be my 'go to' hotel in Amsterdam!

I loved the warm attitude of the staff – everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming. They even shared the story of the hotel, which made my stay feel special. The property itself is simply stunning – I’ve traveled a lot, but I’ve never stayed in such a beautiful hotel. The view from my room was amazing yet peaceful, not noisy at all. I also received a complimentary upgrade and thoughtful souvenirs that now remind me of my trip. Breakfast was delicious and varied, a perfect start to the day. Overall, it felt truly unique and memorable.

Nothing really – everything exceeded my expectations.

Breakfast was always on time (having chosen the time we wanted the night before) it was always ready for us when we came down to the gallery. A boiled egg, little Dutch pancakes, fresh fruit, granola and yoghurt, ham, cheese and selection of breads and croissant - all really fresh and tasty. As others have said, the sandwich shop next door produces wonderful food that can be eaten in the hotel for lunches. The room (we had Airplane Builder) was quirky and very comfortable with a brilliant view over the canals at the front of the hotel. There were many plus points for this hotel, especially if you like quirky and individual, but one of the main standouts is the friendliness of the staff - they are all exceptionally caring, chatty and helpful. The hotel is an easy walk from the central train station but in a quiet area. There is a lift but it is very small, and the staircase is very tight and spiral so access up and down is good exercise for the day!

Stayed in this wonderful hotel for 2 nights over the weekend to celebrate my 50th Birthday. We stayed in Miller and it was perfect. View is great and staff, food, little extra's all greatly appreciated. This is a great hotel base for visiting Amsterdam. Levi in particular at the front desk made our time really special with lots of individual recommendations and attention. Thank you for having us and look forward to visiting again.

The bathroom is very dark! So I did have to ask for a spare small hand mirror to use in the main room as there was no other mirrors. But small consolation.

Amazing Staff. In the heart of the city. And a great breakfast that was perfect to start the day with. We stayed 3 nights and now we know we were staying in a place that represents the typical Amsterdam house. Winding staircases and eclectic spaces. after seeing some museums and other attractions we came back to The Craftsman and it was like we were staying in a museum of sorts. All that to say that the staff was the best part. Super friendly and helpful and just a delight.

The room we stayed in was a tad loud at night. It seems that room is perched above a pedestrian street that was a major through road from city center for those that enjoyed some late night partying. Ear plugs helped but it was not quiet until maybe 2am. I would choose another room in this same hotel next time.

The room was outstanding (The Miller). Highlights include: - A warm welcome on arrival - The artwork as you walk up the stairs to your room highlighting some of the history of the place and Amsterdam - The large and comfy bed - Brilliant roll top bath - Nice welcome message with stroopwafels - Breakfast was incredible - orange juice, teas/coffees to order, a selection of cheese and meats, various rolls and pastries, eggs and fresh fruits. Great way to wake up every morning and could be ordered to the room if you wished. - Great location - we were generally able to walk to all the main attractions - Communication throughout was great - The little gift on checking out was really sweet

Would have been nice if bubble bath had been provided in the room, particularly given the fantastic bath provided. However, a quick trip to Lush meant my wife could have a perfect bath every night. We did have an issue in The Miller whereby some of the old brackets outside the window had come loose in a storm and were making a bit of a racket. We spoke to staff in the morning and they had someone look at these as well as provide a sleep kit including ear plugs. This, combined with the winds reducing meant we had peaceful nights the rest of our stay.

Excellent location and absolutely perfect staff and the service. A very elegant, nicely refurbished building with a creative theme - pleasant from aesthetic point of view. Very comfortable bathroom, good pressure of water, good quality cosmetics. The food for breakfast was of a very good quality but a limited variety (just eggs, ham, cheese and sweets). The choice of bread was limited (no wholemeal "heavy" bread). Coffee was very good.

All photographs (very good quality) are a bit misleading making impression of a larger space. The Brewer room has a low ceiling (less than 2 m) and in fact is without windows (small window was expected as it is in the basement but it was not possible to open it). The problem is that it was not ventilated well - we had to open doors to the street that was uncomfortable. There is no breakfast buffet ("to reduce the waste") but the need to ask for every single pice of butter or additional portion of food may be embarrassing for some people.

This property is an absolute 10 from the way they handle the guests. Had me sit in the lounge and made me a chai tea while they got my luggage up the small elevator to my room. The beauty of the inside with the charming finishes. Not to mention the breakfast brought to the room the next morning, which was to die for. Upon checking out, they gift you two beautiful coasters blue, and white customary for Amsterdam of the exterior view of the hotel painted. I cannot wait to go to Amsterdam again and I will not stay anywhere about the craftsman

Not one single thing did I dislike about the craftsman. The only bad thing about my stay is that it had to end
