The location of this hotel is excellent, just a few 10 minutes walk to the Amsterdam Centraal station. The room, the hotel itself is immaculately clean and they change bed sheets every day. Toiletries are provided and replenished and fresh towels too. The members of staff are friendly, helpful, accommodating and informative as well as the cleaners. The breakfast that they offer is very good. You can have your eggs as fried, scrambled or as omelette depending on how you like it plus many more, hot or cold breakfast. There is a bar also if you fancy a drink in the evening. I would highly recommend this hotel and I am looking forward to booking again when we come back to this beautiful city of Amsterdam.
They don’t offer dinner in this hotel so you would have to find somewhere else to have it. They have a bar with some snacks or a pizza but no dinner menu.

We came to Amsterdam to see Sail 2025. This property fit our family (6 persons) vacation to a Tee! The location was the best , a short walk to most major attractions, our favorite bars and easy access to the Central train station. The Staff was very helpful, Aichane Bueno got us into a room early and facilitated the next day arrival of my family. Liza Soares helped us several times when we had lost room key problems and needed help using the local trams. The hotel breakfast was very good. There was free coffee and soft drinks available in the afternoon. I come to Amsterdam frequently and this was my first time at the Highlander.. I will come back. Thank you
One room was a bit small.

Very nice hotel in a great central location, about a 10 minute walk from central station. The breakfast was superb. All of the staff were very nice and helpful.
The rooms on each floor were coloured, we had room 14, which was on the black floor. Had we known about this when making thw booking I would have asked for a different colour, whilst the room was very nicely decorated, the blackness was a little of a mood killer, it wasn't very mood enhancing and was so very dark, there was also very little natural light coming in through the small window. Also, we were meant to be able to control the TV with the small tablet that was in the room, but we couldn't get it to work, didn't matter too much as we didn't fly all that way to watch TV! But if you're going to have tech in the room it should be fit for purpose.

Everything. We arrived super early but were told our room would be ready soon so we were directed to the cosy dining area to have complimentary teas & coffees whilst we waited. The room was good to go 15 minutes later. Our room was on the top floor and very atmospheric with dark colours & great views. We loved the tartan hallways (and agreed the Light Blue Floor is the nicest 😂). The pillows were a dream & the bed was fabulously roomy too. Breakfast was lovely every morning with a great selection for all tastes and the boutiquey vibe with graffitied art just added to the whole cosy experience. The location is perfect and so close to just about everything with plenty of restaurants & little supermarkets dotted around if needed. Should we return to Amsterdam I wouldn't even look at staying anywhere else - The Highlander is absolutely spot on 😊
It's a small thing (and ultimately can't be changed) but the separate toilet area leaves very little room for maneuver. If you tilt forward when you stand up (like I do), banging your head on the wall becomes inevitable. As much as I loved the big shower area, I think the ratio is off 😂😂 (Oh, and an iron in the room would also have been very handy!)

Beautiful, clean, modern hotel with wonderful staff, all polite and smiley. Great breakfast with hot and cold options and plentiful. Lovely rooms, extremely comfortable bed and excellent shower. A couple of complimentary cold drinks and nibbles in the room/fridge as well as a coffee machine. Complimentary hot drinks on arrival and a round of drinks for my wife's birthday and they put a Happy Birthday banner and a bottle of wine in the room on the day! The bar has a happy hour where the first drink is not half price or 2-4-1 but free! Excellent location on the edge of Jordaan and all it's canals. Also a 10 minute walk from Central Railway Station. Would definitely return.
For us, the lighting was a faff in the room as it is all modern gadgets and not simple on and off switches! Full lighting was a little dim in some areas of the room.

I got stuck in Amsterdam due to a cancelled train and needed somewhere to stay for the night. I booked a room on Booking in the train station, and the team was ready to check me in about ten minutes later by the time I walked to the hotel! They were lovely and allowed me an extra hour in the morning before checkout so that I could do an interview, and the room and bed were very comfortable.
All small things, but when you enter the hotel with luggage, it’s a split level floor and you have to take stairs down to check in - from there you can take an elevator up to the rooms. There was no desk/table in the room, and this happened to be the one time I’ve travelled in forever where I actually needed one. And the lighting in the bathroom was a bit tricky to figure out, I didn’t feel like I could get it on full power to do my makeup, but could be operator error.

Fantastic location very close to Centraal, the Dam and nine streets, but felt very boutique and not at all part of the touristy fray. Even while our room faced a busy street, the soundproofing was excellent and dark curtains helped us sleep very well in the comfortable bed. Our suite was surprisingly large given the compact nature of the building, with a super comfortable king bed, Nespresso, lots of surfaces for luggage and hanging clothes and coats. The window onto the street and the luxe interior design made for a big Amsterdam mood. Staff was always friendly and helpful, and I appreciated the cozy multifunctional lobby area.
Breakfast was a little chaotic in the lobby area when busy, and the omelette was a little industrial and not great. I would say getting breakfast out in the city might be preferable.

The hotel was very clean, modern design (kinda bohemian/Scottish theme), hospitality and staff are excellent and we loved the location and walked everywhere. I will definitely stay there when I visit again. When I stay there next time I will make sure to ask for any room that is not on the Main Street as it is noisy because of trains and people having fun through the weeee hours of the night.
I traveled with the daughter and the shower and sink area could have been a little more private. If I were with my husband it would have not been a concern at all. The room on the 1st floor street side was just a bit noisy for me but the hotel did offer ear plugs for sleeping.

We loved this boutique hotel and the ease of access in and out of the property. Very convenient to main station, public transportation and all the attractions. We booked two triples for our family and that worked out nicely. The rooms were clean, beds and pillows were plump and comfortable, our rooms were quiet despite facing the street. Comfy chairs were a plus after long days of walking and for extra seating for other family members visiting our room. We had a great nights sleep. Loved the ample showers. The staff provided personalized service - including one night when we ordered take out for dinner and they kindly allowed us to eat in the dining area, provided plates and utensils, etc. Nice amenities of water, soda and snacks were a welcome touch in the rooms too.
The bathroom toilet would creak every time someone sat on it and the door would creak as well. The tiled floors in the shower were discolored from rust around the edges. Space is a little tight getting past when someone is at the sink.

The location is fantastic. It's quite centric and walkable-distance to most things. And when that's not enough, there's a bike rental shop almost next door. And further, it's very close to Amsterdam Centraal and to tram stations. The room is extremely cozy, and I'll miss that bed for weeks. Such good night sleep... Everything is super clean, all staff is lovely. And breakfast is so, so worth it. It's another thing I'm missing already.
Absolutely minor things, but the room only had one full-size mirror, behind the bathroom door, which closes automatically. So we needed to put something to stop it, so we could prep ourselves to go out (outside the bathroom!) Secondly, the fancy tablet they provide didn't work (it didn't hold the charge and rarely even turned on) Again, take these with a grain of salt, as they are minor things and might not happen in other rooms.
