Extremely friendly staff, central, beautiful location to tour NI. Food in both Pier 36 and their other establishments excellent value. Views just perfect over the harbour, lovely flat walks. We will definitely return and even with next part of our review, would stay at Pier 36 again as we would have different expectations.
Although the room was clean and comfortable there was a musky smell and carpets and entrance/stairs up to room could do with an update. Chair in room was old and a bit shabby - Ensuite bathroom was nice and modern, lovely bath - but the bedroom decor and furnishings let it down. Once I got over that though, the welcome and hospitality by staff overcame this issue.

This was a delightful property!!! Our room was a bit small, but I knew what I selected as the larger rooms had already been booked out. But we had a fridge, a Smart TV, an ensuite, and the room was large enough for us, and we loved it - and the price so reasonable. Next to our bed was a large window looking onto the harbour - which was so special. We enjoyed our wonderful breakfasts in the restaurant, had a few drinks at the bar, and one evening ate in the restaurant. All excellent!. Lots of great bars and food in the area if you decide to go exploring. We love the series Hope Street and so it was fun to stay in the hotel and wander around the area. Donaghadee is just gorgeous, and was such a surprise to us as we were not expecting it to be so lovely. We were lucky to have blue skies during our stay and we went for lots of walks. We were happy with the customer service, Lindsay suggested our new favourite meal (the sesame chicken) at their sister property, Caroline took a photo of us behind the bar, and Mia was a lot of fun. Thank you Pier 36 for a wonderful stay!
We arrived on Mother's Day and the harbour, and restaurant, was crazy busy - so it was tricky to find a parking spot. We drove around the area a number of times and found a spot in the parking area around the corner eventually. Just bad timing really. Also, be prepared, the property doesn't have a lift - not a negative, but something to be prepared for if you have heavy luggage. But it was worth it for us.

All the staff were amazing except for the bar staff. First fella ignored me and the second gave me pints when I asked for halves. The girl who served us breakfast this morning (30/6) was the best waitress ever. So lovely and attentive
The food. The breakfast bacon was awful, the granola in yoghurt with berries didn’t have any berries, the potato bread was greasy, the black pudding was so burnt it tasted like sawdust. The chowder was a spoonful and the mussels were the tiniest I’ve ever seen…the size of tictacs. Not worth the money

I knew check in wasn't until 3pm but I went in at 1:45pm only to ask about parking. The young lady I spoke to was lovely and after we discussed the parking she offered to check if our room was ready. She returned about 5 minutes later, told us the room was in fact ready for us and showed us to our room. We then spoke with the lady who was cleaning and preparing the rooms for guests and she kindly showed us the other rooms. During our chat, I mentioned that if I was visiting again, I would book a room with a bath! We received a warm welcome when we went downstairs to the restaurant for dinner. We were shown to our table and although the restaurant was very busy (it was New years eve) our drinks order was taken immediately as was our food order. I had the chicken stack and my husband chose the steak & Guinness casserole. Both good size portions and the food was first class😋A few times during our meal different members of staff came to our table to check if we needed anything. The service was superb☺️We were in the Chichester room with a sea view. The room, although small was in fact very cosy and exceptionally clean. When we arrived for breakfast the next morning we were shown to our table by the manager who told us that we had been given a room upgrade for our second night☺️There was a good choice on the breakfast menu and again the food was delicious. As we were going out for a walk, we were told just to pack our cases and once the other room was ready, our cases would be moved to the room for our return. Every member of staff at Pier 36 who we spoke to was polite, friendly and really took time to make sure we were enjoying our stay. The room upgrade was The Smith (room 1) which had a four poster bed, sofa and to my delight a bath☺️I do plan to visit Pier 36 again and hopefully book this room but if it wasn't available, I wouldn't be too disappointed as I did like the cosiness of The Chichester.

We loved the location, our room looked over the Irish Sea. Our room was at the very top which allowed amazing views. We had all we needed in the room with comfy beds and fresh cotton bedding
The noise from the en-suite toilet when flushed & the water running from the sink caused some water valve or system to make quite a loud noise, which I’m sure could have caused the people in the other rooms to either get woken up or nose pollution in their rooms. Can’t say for sure but I would recommend that this is dealt with.

We stayed in the 3 level en-suite. First floor is just the landing second is the bathroom and 3rd is the 2-bedroom floor. 3 small flights to get from room to bathroom so if your not keen with stairs consider that :) Great views, clean room and the pub/restaurant had super friendly staff. The breakfast was the best I’ve had in Ireland. Great location on edge of town. We walked to the golf course and played 18. Such a lovely spot and town. We plan on returning.

Staff and food in the Pier were exceptional . Our room ( which was not in the pub/restaurant had a fabulous view of the bay and had everything we needed in it . So definetly value for money regarding our room only , the rest of the accommodation see below .
The downside for us was the lack of information regarding the accommodation we were shown , 4 flights of stairs up to our room , and 3 flights down to the bathroom and toilet. This should be mentioned when the booking is made . I really struggled during the night and if anyone older has been given this accommodation, they would have refused the room ( as nice as it was.) On the booking confirmation it did say 'separate bathroom', but not 3 flights down stairs . . The bannisters need attention as some points no room for ones hand to slide .

excellent location right opposite the harbour ... was lovely to look out the windows in the morning and watch the tide. Food was outstanding ... both dinner and breakfast were amazing. the staff were very welcoming and interested in your visit. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apt next door which was amazing. We had pre-booked the Copeland Distillery tour which was literally next door to the guest house.. perfect location to stumble out of it with the amount of alcohol given lol. Will 100% be back
whats not to like! can't fault this at all ... good value for money

Wonderful location with beautiful sea views from our room which was spacious, light and airy. Well equipped with seating by the window to watch tide rolling in and plenty of wardrobe space. We were able to park the hire car right outside the pub. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Our full Irish breakfast was really tasty, we also ate an evening meal in the pub which was delicious. There was filming taking place on the morning we checked out (which we knew about) so we were invited to dine in 'Bow bells coffee house and tea rooms' for our breakfast which was only round the corner and also absolutely tasty and very enjoyable .
Didn't dislike anything

I was visiting NI on business and decided to book at the Pier 36 and how pleased I did. The initial reception was very professional. I was shown up to the room (number 2) which was very large and spacious and spotlessly clean. All this with a sea view as well. I took the opportunity to have dinner down in the bar. I had the soup starter followed by Haddock both of which I enjoyed. After a good nights sleep and a wonderful hot shower I went for breakfast. I can not recommend the award winning Muesli highly enough followed by poached eggs on sough doe bread. I left feeling well fed and rested, which is all you can ask for from a B&B.
