Our visit to Taos yesterday was nothing short of extraordinary, with a memorable stay at the historic Taos Inn, which has been welcoming guests since the 1930s. The rooms were cozy and charmingly appointed. However, the beds were hard, old and quite uncomfortable. However the happy hour bar food and drinks were fantastic. The service is fantastic!! We had initially planned to dine at Doc Martin's, the hotel's restaurant, but after a disappointing appetizer, we decided to explore alternative options.

Location was great. Staff was friendly. Grounds were nice and it was easy to get around. Overall we would probably stay again but there are just a few tiny things that would go a long ways. The box fans and separate rooms were truly very sound proof and the courtyards were great for sitting and hanging out. Overall, very peaceful. The room was spacious and overall met our needs. Can pretty much walk to anything.

We booked a room and they gave us another room, not the size nor accommodations that we booked. So we had to go back to the front desk and ask for the room we booked. They were happy to help and shuffled some other guests around. The Queen suite we ended up in was fine. We did find hair in the shower, lipstick on the pillowcase and some other stain on the spare blanket which is pretty gross. The pullout couch was like all the other ones in the world, very, uncomfortable. No getting around that with those things. Small things: Provide some type of free breakfast items, keep the restaurant open past 8 or 9 pm on a Sat night. Laundry on-site seems like a basic these days for any hotel so that would be super helpful.

My sister and I stayed there on a girls trip. We got two twin beds, which is just what I wanted. The room was spacious and comfortable. It is a very old historic building so you must take that into consideration. It is well-maintained, but there are stairs, uneven floors, and so forth. The main reason I wanted to stay there, in addition to the twin room, was the location, which is fabulous! Easy to walk everywhere.

The quirks of an old building, which can be somewhat difficult for older folks.

The historic charm of this vintage property - we were given an actual metal key for unlocking the door to our room. The rooms were spacious and very well kept. The property has many lovely flower beds, gardens and even a koi pond. The location is perfect - literally a stone's throw to the central plaza.

We had dinner in the restaurant. While the service was exceptional, the food was disappointing- we were expecting more flavorful New Mexican food and instead it was pretty mediocre.

I've stayed at this inn a few times now. It is quaint, historic, nice restaurant and bar and right near the rest of the downtown. I love the quirkiness of the courtyard, etc. Our room had a fireplace where we built a REAL fire. It was really a nice bonus. They also had live music in the evenings and the people who played were tons of fun.

There really isn't anything not to like. It's a little expensive, but its a great experience.

This is a lovely old place in Taos. it is right on the main road - which unfortunately was torn up and under construction when we were there - and it has a lot of character without being over the top. Staff was helpful and down to earth. The breakfast in the restaurant was fantastic!

Public areas could get crowded - like the lobby and bar areas. The torn up road - though not the fault of the hotel - limited our ability to wander and shop.

We stayed in the old part of the hotel. Reminiscent of old style wild west saloon and hotel, but with all modern conveniences. Surprisingly comfortable. Room and ensuite were small but had everything we needed. Restaurant food and service were excellent. Folk music in the evening was most enjoyable and stopped at 9pm. no noise at all from bar or restaurant after 10pm, very quiet. Hotel gave us excellent recommendation for breakfast at Farmhouse Cafe, a few miles out of town.

Everything was great. there are roadworks along the main street, but no noise problems.

Loved the unique atmosphere, live music at the bar, and excellent location. Restaurant was extremely understaffed, but the food was delicious, and I'm glad we waited. Enjoyed the fireplaces in each room.

Communication could be better amongst the front desk. They allowed us into our 1st room early and promised us 2 rooms together. When we went back to check into the 2nd room, it was given to someone else. We were placed in separate courtyards - which was less than ideal when traveling with kids. The 2nd room was also much smaller than the room we had been promised. Unfortunately, they were completely booked, so there was nothing we could do.

The atmosphere at the Taos Inn is exceptional. The bed was very comfy, thank you for the extra blankets which we used because it was cold, the bath-shower combo had a grab rail for safety and our room (king suite) was quiet and charming. We enjoyed the morning coffee in the lounge and dined at the inn two nights in a row. The food at both the bar and Doc Martin's is excellent. The location right opposite the plaza was very handy. The decor was very New Mexico and having a kiva in the room was a treat. Taos is an understated little town, there are some great things to do and see here. Plan a couple of nights at least.

I offer these as suggestions and not criticisms because we absolutely loved our stay :) 1. At our Santa Fe hotel there was coffee and tea 24 hours a day and we enjoyed the convenience of having a hot drink available given there was no facility in the suite for coffee/hot water. 2. I would also suggest that in winter, the inn offer guests with kivas in the room free firewood rather than selling it for $8 a bundle after the first night's free bundle. The only alternative was a small electric heater which has hazards of its own compared to wood (and probably costs more than a wood fire).

I loved Julie at reception. Was always there to answer questions, give suggestions, etc. I loved the access to morning coffee and tea. I loved the coziness of the bar

The first night I froze because I could not find any HVAC control and chilly air blew all night. The next day I learned I had to drag out an electric heater each night for warmth and I learned to find "a little black knob (which I hadn't known about earlier). It had been on "cool air" but was easily turned off when found. Not important but, my room had been skipped one day of cleaning although my "Clean My Room" sign was out all day. A continental or mini "snack breakfast" would have been nice.
