1. Great breakfast from Geoff using some wonderful local produce. 2. We really enjoy chatting with Barb and Geoff over a wine or two and over breakfast. 3. This is located in the Waipara valley so if you've got a bit of time it's super easy to get to a winery or two for some (passengers only - please) wine tasting. 4....and then the next day (after a lovely breakfast) there's time to spare on your way north to get the ferry if you booked the crossing wisely.

Well, I suppose they could have had a heated spa and an infinity pool but then we would have had to stay all week and they might have got tired of us being there. Besides, Hanmer Springs is just an hour down the road .... Seriously though, there was nothing we didn't like.

Location! Spot on between Akoroa and Kaikoura, with plenty of vineyards on the doorstep. Amazing hospitality! Very comfortable bed with good weighted bedcovers. Great coffee for breakfast! Barbs and Jeff welcomed us into their home. Such a pleasure to meet them.

Nothing to say. Cooked breakfast was offered and we accepted! Having experienced their hospitality I am sure there were other options. We just didn't enquire!

Barb and Geoff are excellent hosts offering their guests a warm welcome. The rooms are well appointed and a hearty cooked breakfast was offered in the morning. There is easy access to the vineyards bike trail. For train enthusiasts, there is a volunteer run train twice a month starting nearby.

There is not much to do in Waipara. Not many of the wineries are open for tastings or cellar door sales.

Barb was lovely. The room is part of their house and we ate a fabulous breakfast with the hosts in their kitchen. Comfy bed and good wifi. I wish Barb and Geoff all the best as this place is for sale and they are going travelling

No aircon and it was a very hot couple of days. We did know this when we booked though. Also no TV which is unusual.

An amazing little paradise in wine country. Barb and Jeff are perfect hosts with their little furry helpers sultn & pepper. The room is super comfy with great garden views. The garden is a treat to explore and relax in as well. We wish we could have stayed longer! Breakfast was top notch, perfect soft poached eggs, homemade bread and all the trimmings.

The place is so peaceful, and the owners have added their own creative, personal touches to everything you see, it's fantastic! Add to that the incredibly comfortable bed, brilliant shower and most delicious breakfast, and you have the best stay you can find in the South Island. Great hosts too - these guys are really inspiring! We were welcomed very warmly, and felt free to make ourselves at home.. they gave us unlimited help on everything available locally, and run a wee food truck nearby, which is equally first-class! Would definitely recommend and intend on returning. Solid wifi connection and only 1hr from Hanmer.

Beautiful house and garden Very friendly hosts who made us feel completely at home. Large room and bathroom with large comfortable bed Delicious cooked breakfast (bacon, sausage, poached eggs, tomatoes, potatoes, mushrooms) Quiet location.

No TV in bedroom - didn’t bother us but might be an issue for others

It was a great loction in the middle of a beautiful winery region, with quick access up the mountains to Hamner Springs. So much in the area to see and do.

Warm, friendly, helpful, and welcoming hosts, gorgeous character property, it all made the stay the stay very special and memorable. Great location for exploring lovely countryside.

M-m-m-m! Who doesn't like a homemade breakfast with all the fixings! The bedroom is nice sized and love the ensuite bathroom with a great shower.

Would have liked to have a chair or something to sit on in the bedroom other than just the bed.
