The quirkiness and authenticity. The staff were friendly, nothing was too much trouble. All taxis were arranged by the Riad staff. Very tasty breakfasts at our convenience. The two meals we had were excellent quality. Brilliant mattresses resulting in great sleep.

We would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. A few trip risks around the place but appreciate this is part of the building structure. Probably not suitable for people unable to manage several flights of stairs to upper terraces.

The riad is in a great location and absolutely beautiful, with stunning Moroccan-style details and a very comfortable bed. The customer service was excellent—Camille was incredibly kind and helpful. The breakfast was delicious, and we appreciated being able to leave our luggage outside of check-in hours. Place is bright, sunny, and overall just lovely.

The only downside was that our room was on the ground floor, so we could hear everything happening outside, and it didn’t have a proper window.

We loved this cute little Riad with only five rooms. We had two suites which were both very spacious and well-appointed. The lovely smell of orange blossom pervades the Riad and everywhere is very clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts are amazing. We stayed four nights and had different Moroccan breads every day. The rooftop is a lovely place to relax and read. Everywhere in the Medina is within 5-10 minutes walk

The only suggestion I would make is maybe to have a softer topper on the mattress which I found a bit hard.

The Riad I'Ayel is located in one of the less busy side streets of the medina of Essaouira. It is comfortable and quiet inside and you get to have your breakfast on the beautiful rooftop terrace. Our room was also very clean and cozy. The staff and owner are super welcoming and nice. The food was very good and we also got to try one of their dinner options which was a little bit costly (still less than most touristy places inside the medina) but delicious!

We had one of the smaller rooms, which didn't really have any space to open your luggage (except for the bed).

We’d stayed at Riad L’Ayel years ago and were pleased to return under the new ownership — the charm is still very much there. Our room was clean, comfortable, and, importantly, not damp like some other riads we’ve stayed in around Essaouira. We appreciated the solid shutters that kept out the light, and the rooftop breakfast was a lovely way to start the day. The staff were kind and helpful throughout our stay. I would highly recommend.

What a warm and welcoming Riad! The manager, Karim, was the perfect host and able to provide loads of information about Essaouira, as well as helping to get my luggage repaired. The owner just happened to be there and was also incredibly welcoming. The Riad is both traditional and modern and the same time. Beautiful tile work throughout. Plenty of sunny escapes on the upper terrace or on the ground floor, with a small fireplace. Our room was particularly comfortable with a spa-like bathroom and sitting area, besides the large bed. Love it!. A great location and wonderful staff!

I suggest that the Riad begin to offer yoga classes or something for guests to enjoy to terrace and spaces to their fullest.

The location was very central and convenient at the heart of the Medina. It was very quiet. The terrasse was also lovely. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the staff (Karim, Abdullah and the ladies in charge of the kitchen) couldn't have been more attentive and helpful. The owner, who was abroad at the time, even gave us a courtesy phone call to see if everything was fine with our stay at the Riad, a nice touch.

Our room was on the dark side as it didn't have any windows but I suppose it made it very quiet which wasn't such a negative.

Easy to find, well located, check-in went smoothly - easy to dip in and out of the hotel when exploring the Medina. Warm welcome from our hosts who were helpful throughout our stay. They looked after our bags after checkout so we could still enjoy walking around and helped us organise our transfer to agadir airport. The room is as it looks in photos, we chose the smaller room for the value - it was perfectly comfortable for our short stay.

Myself and my two friends had a wonderful stay at this beautiful riad! The atmosphere was stunning, and the hospitality was exceptional. The staff were so welcoming and helpful, especially Idris and Camille, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Our room was always spotless, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious - such a perfect way to start the day! We can't wait to go back!
