A lovely, friendly greeting on arrival with a complimentary glass of wine. Room was perfectly sized and with all creature comforts. We were impressed with the attention to detail which included biscuits, a selection of superior quality coffees and teas, fresh bottled water every morning, and even a cheeky glass of Madeira wine! Breakfast was delicious, & dinner was fabulous, with the option of wine pairings across the menu. All served in a beautiful orangery overlooking the delightfully pretty courtyard, in which you can even play a game of boules. The dog was very welcomed; he had his own bed, artisan dog biscuits, toy, poo bags, & food/water bowls. He was welcome in two areas of the restaurant, which were spacious and equally as comfortable as the part which was dog-free. The outdoor heated pool, sauna & hot tubs were a wonderful bonus - sitting in the sauna at the end of the day, gazing out across the rolling fields at the highland cattle was a real treat. Towels, flip flops & waterproof hooded robe all available. Changing rooms pristinely clean and well-stocked with toiletries. We were particularly impressed with all staff - they were attentive, friendly & knowledgeable and made our stay one to remember. We will definitely be back!

Continental breakfast was a little limited but more than made up for by the choice and quality of cooked breakfasts available.

Staff all very friendly and breakfast was good. Location is very handy as i have family living nearby.

Despite kingsize bedroom, bathroom was tiny.. double glazed windows full of condensation. Far too near close to party venue and music kept me awake until midnight and overlooked car park, despite my request for a quiet room.. but guess that cant be helped when events are being held. Having stayed previously in the past, not keen on all the new changes... the lounge behind where reception used to be was far better for guests. Seems to have lost its character which appealed to us. Prices seem very expensive for what we had as I also booked 2 rooms for family members.

The hotel far exceeded my expectations. I think it is fair to say it has had very mixed reviews! Do not let these put you off staying. We found the hotel, in the main, ran efficiently. It is ideally located to explore the area around Rutland Water. The rooms were clean and comfortable offering everything that is required during your stay. The breakfast, served in the lovely bright and airy Orangery, provided a good start to the day. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed our stay very much.

The staff in the hotel and at the spa were lovely. I really enjoyed the outdoor pool, and the bed in our room was so comfy. Great food too!

There needs to be more sunbeds for the outdoor pool area. They could have more of these for the grass areas and don't necessarily need them around the pool. The toilet hadn't been flushed when we arrived in room 3. The toilet seat and toilet roll holder were both loose and could do with replacing.

The experience at the hotel was amazing. Everything from arrival to departure was spot on. The room was pleasant with lovely views. The breakfast and evening meals were amazing, a good choice to cater for all types of pallets. The location was outstanding, from our table we looked over the fields. The staff made us feel welcome and were very smartly dressed. Nothing was too much trouble, everybody in the hotel made our stay one to remember.

The shower in the hotel room was abit fierce. I slipped in the bath as the slip matt had lost its grip (room 27). The fan in the bathroom stays on for about 15 minutes after the lights are turned off which can be abit noisy.

I loved the location and the orangey was very welcoming. Outside areas were very good lots of shade and sun if required. The classic room was warm and had most things needed for your stay I loved the tea tray .

I thought a face flannel could have been put in the room . The shower gel and shampoo should be accessible if having a bath I struggled to keep getting up to reach them . I didn't seem to have any hotel information in the room so I had to keep asking reception not good .

Have stayed several times. Staff always very pleasant and friendly/helpful. Breakfast was good. Like the look of the new Spa area with outdoor pool, sauna and hot tub. Neither used on this occasion.

First time we've stayed since all the changes in the hotel. A cosy and spacious relaxing lounge has now been converted into more dining seating and Reception moved to a smaller area. Very noisy as you enter if dining area is busy rather off-putting but thankfully not many people there whilst we had breakfast.

Lovely location. Hotel has a small vegetable garden which we enjoyed looking around and talking to the gardeners.

We’ve been a few times and enjoyed staying. We previously had a very warm welcome on arrival and information given to us about the hotel and facilities was freely given. However this time we were welcomed, but I think the receptionist was distracted by something else. Not sure what though. The receptions experience wasn’t similar to previous visits. We had to ask about several things. In addition, at our last visit the spa was being built, we therefore asked about when the new outdoor spa would be available to guests. It was opened earlier in August, but nothing had been said on our arrival to indicate it was now available.

Room was lovely and very suitable for my Husband who is ill and disabled . This break to visit the global birdfair was was the first we had in over a year due to my husbands cancer. Food was excellent and my husband found food he could eat . Friends who joined us for dinner was also very impressed. The views, peace and quiet was appreciated as was the courtyard flowers for wildlife. Bonus was the adorable cattle

We were a little close to the event barn that had outdoor barbecue and unfortunately the smoke drifted into our room. Fortunately the event finished at 11pm so we were not disturbed too much. A minor nuisance solved by shutting the windows.

Breakfast - good choices - well presented (the addition of fish would have been a bonus) , and well cooked Room comfortable but the addition of two comfortable chairs in a double room is a must appreciated addition of bottled milk and water - a very nice touch ALL staff unfailingly helpful and a delight with whom to pass the time of day

No provision for a semi-private lounge area - two sofas in full view of dining area does not provide the setting for a relaxed half-hour when needed Not sufficient "specials" on the supper menu and somewhat overpriced Would have appreciated biscuits on hospitality tray EVERY day, not just on arrival - too many choices of tea and coffee
