Staff excelled and went out of their way to make you happy, from reception to mealtimes. Main evening meal was fairly expensive but definitely worth the price, very enjoyable. Room/bed was very comfortable with everything we needed to meet our needs. The building was set within very nice grounds with the added bonus of access to a gym/pool/sauna if required.
Shower over bath with curtain that stuck to the body when used. Would have preferred to be in the main building rather than the annexe, would request that for any future stay. Buffet breakfast hit and miss with the cooked food, otherwise plenty of choices.

I liked in fact we both liked the first impression which was the lovely Sarah, (who I'd chatted to on the phone as we drove up from Eastbourne to tell her we might be late due to traffic) at Reception who immediately sorted a beautiful room overlooking the park with bath. Sarah was the first impression of Cranage and even found out where the hotels amazing vases came from for me. Then the room allocated to us was clean warm welcoming - we always judge our hotel stays by the bathroom/bedroom. We were not disappointed. Wonderful. Then the third impression we got was when with our daughter and son in law we went to the bar then on to dinner. We were attended to by Abbie who is new to.the hotel.and in Management training - another wonderful caring and attentive but not obsequious member of staff. Having heard I was up for my birthday she got a special.desert for me with Happy Birthday in it. Friendly and thoughtful especially when the next day I'd been given flowers and Abbie got me a wine cooler to put them in. The Hpusekerping staff in particular a delightful young man, Chinese I think who waited patiently for me to finish in my room before he came to spruce the room up. Wonderful smile. Also the Polish lady housekeeper who was sorting out our room the next day when I duddenly rushed back to grab domething and I was able to.thank her in person and other staff members for looking after everything so beautifully. The leisure club manager who allowed us to bring in our youngest, who we'd just picked up.from.Manchester airport and whose luggage was still in Brisbane! Our Meg who.was allowed to.come in and swim.and have a jacuzzi (thank heavens I had spares of everything. PH and finally last but not least George also.on Reception who was just a total.delight and gave us a late checkout as There wasn't a single person in the gorgeous Cranage Estate that didn't make us feel.at home and welcome over our three nights.
Even the long walk to and from the bedroom or the leisure club or dining room was a health benefit! So no.complaints.

Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and in a relaxing atmosphere. It got busy on a Sunday morning but we did not feel under pressure to rush. The rooms were excellent. Our son had a double room, and we had a deluxe double, both excellent although the cheaper double room had a fridge & we did not. All the staff were excellent, we mentioned appt reception we were meeting our son whose birthday it was. Without a request they dressed his room with balloons, banners, a card and chocolate, such an amazing touch, our thanks to all involved!
The corridor to the room and the room was a little cool and the radiator temperature did not change even when turned up but thus did not take the sine off our experience.

The place is very grand as you arrive and the public spaces are attractive. The staff were great.
We stayed in a twin room. The headboards (made of fake leather) were disintegrating and breaking up in the bed. Because of this, they can't be cleaned properly, and the fact that they haven't been replaced is pretty grim. We ate in the bar, and the food was average, although not at an average price. The staff in the bar were faultless, though. The room could have been cleaner as there were Easter egg wrappers under the armchair and the luggage rest. The bathroom is tired with a rusting bath.

One night mini spa break! The whole experience was fabulous from booking online with booking.com to our one night stay. Booked it as a birthday surprise treat for the hubbie couldn't fault anything, the staff were amazing from check in, evening meal in the restaurant, breakfast the next morning to check out! The room was clean and comfy, the leisure facilities were really good and clean, we used all the facilities apart from the gym. We dined in the restaurant in the evening, the service and food were excellent, the staff couldn't do enough for us! The breakfast the next morning was lovely, buffet style help yourself with much as or little you wanted, coffee was plentiful with top ups. Again, the staff were on hand for anything you required! The mini night spa was just perfect. The reception staff on check-in and check out were excellent and made you feel very welcome. All round perfect 24 hours up at the hall! Yes! We would both go again! Highly Recommend!

We arrived at Cranage at approaching 9pm after visiting friends. When trying to check in it became apparent that I had made a major error and booked for the wrong night. The reception staff were so helpful - agreeing to honour the booking for the same price for that night and then getting our family room set up. We were so grateful at the end of a long day. Our kids had a dairy free pizza in the bar as well and breakfast in the morning was excellent too. Every member of staff we came across was smiley, polite and helpful.
The only thing I would list as a negative was the sofa bed which was pretty uncomfortable - next time the family rooms get an upgrade, some better sofa beds (or even better - two single trundles would be a good idea.

Beautifully situated in lovely grounds - ideal for exercising dog. Very pleasant and informative welcome from receptionist. Room well situated and very quiet as requested. Cosy, comfortable, spotlessly clean and nicely furnished with adequate space for a four legged friend. Appreciated the 'dog friendly' touches. Breakfast excellent as usual - as was the welcome from the manager.
Attitude of bar stewardess - abrupt almost to the extent of rudeness - the only reason for the rating of less than excellent. Charge of £30 per night per dog quite expensive - probably prohibitive to a longer stay.

Lovely breakfast and catered for vegetarians/vegans One small comment would be that if you have non-dairy milk in tea/coffee, you had to get the soya milk over where the food is and not where the tea machines were, but not a big issue.
One small thing - the carpet in the room needed vacuuming, I'm glad I brought my slippers with me. Also, one of the mugs in the room had a chip on it. Also, the booklet in the room describing the history of cranage must previously had something spilt on it and the pages were stuck together - a shame for someone who is interested in the history of cranage and wanting to read the booklet.

Breakfast had a good choice and Margaret was more than helpful in extras that we wanted. Nice cosy seating areas around the fireplaces, Gym and pool area well stocked, clean and all machines modern and working well. Bar food good, Pizza, salad & Fish Pie yummy. Bedrooms very roomy, bathroom clean and modern. Staff through out were very helpful & frendly.
Need better heating in the rooms, also need a small fridge for cold drinks etc. All these can be overcome but as an Electric Car owner really disappointed with low power charging sockets and exceptionally high cost to charge, hopefully they will find a better service provider as this price can be cut by half.

A gorgeous estate, on the inside it has been converted however and looks just like a hotel. The place is smoothly run with large spaces that can be hired out for events and our room was warm and comfortable. The spa was lovely and everything we were hoping for (pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam). The breakfast was decent and the estate is easy enough to get to as it is signposted. We had the pleasure of seeing the grounds covered in snow and frost, absolutely beautiful, wish we could have stayed for longer. It was a relaxing environment we are likely to revisit in the future.
