We had a very nice stay in this well-equipped holiday cottage, just a short walk from the beach. The cottage has a terrace with a table and sunshade — perfect for relaxing outside. The bathroom is simple but clean. There's a selection of coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the kitchen. The late check-in was well organised; instructions and the key were waiting for us in the reception area, which made arrival stress-free. You can rent a small shovel for visiting Hot Water Beach — very handy and definitely recommended!

Like in many places in New Zealand, the hot and cold water come from separate taps — not our favourite setup, but manageable.

The room was so clean and spacious. The location of our room was right next to the stairs at the beach which was perfect! The restaurant options on the resort hit the spot. While there were a lot of residents, it never felt overcrowded or loud. The staff were so kind! To top it off, we had a flat tire driving near the property, and after many hours of flying and driving, we were exhausted. We had trouble with the jack that was with the rental car. Without even knowing we had a booking on the resort, a staff member came out to check on us, sent one of his crew to help us, and we were on our way to a tire shop within a few minutes. SO kind! That alone won our hearts. It was also an easy drive to the parking lot to catch the shuttle for Cathedral Cove.

We loved the location; how we could walk right out the front of our bach and step onto a sandy pathway to a gorgeous beach. Perfect for evening walks and early morning sunrise viewing. Comfy beds and everything we needed as far as appliances, shovels for the hot water beach, enough towels for shower and beach.

There were short hours in the reception area and restaurants were closed on site because we were there in November, which is not high season. The hot tub near our unit was being cleaned, and it was kind of a pain to get permission to use the hot tub on the other side of the campground.

I feel that I need to make clear that when I visited the resort it was in the middle of the NZ winter (low season) and that I was not sure what to expect. The facilities in the resort were largely shut (due to it being low season) but the cabin was comfortable, if a little sparsely furnished; this might be the norm for such accommodation in NZ so should not necessarily be taken as a criticism. The location could not have been better.

No oven, just a microwave. As it was low season most of the town was closed.

Beachfront with sea views and steps to the beach. Quiet location. Plenty of towels.

Dates furniture. Sofas not comfortable. Could do with better outdoor furniture from the main bedroom upstairs. Kitchen very dated. We could have chosen the more updated Baches but we wanted the sea view. Would return again despite the dates feel to the kitchen/sofas.

Amazing location, right next to beautiful beach. Close to village and the famous cathedral cove walkway. Nice helpful staff. The summer bar with food is great.

Expensive. Almost $300 a night for 2 adults and 1 child, for a basic cabin with a particularly poor shower.

On the beach location is amazing. On site restaurant serves really tasty burgers with a lively outdoor atmosphere. Reception, Bar and restaurant staff were really friendly and good humourded.

Ground floor garden accommodation did not have any windows that you could open. The only option to let in fresh air was the patio doors which we wouldn't be comfortable leaving open at night.

Comfortable room with porch, and quick access to Hahei Beach. Part of a larger resort with camping, we were there on a weekend and there were lots of families, big crowd in the central area around the bar and food service areas created a fun environment. Beach towels provided. A little walk out of town and a few mile walk to Cathedral Cove.

Location, location, location! Nothing beats looking out at the ocean. Amazing sunrise views , and beautiful clean long wide beach. The size of the two bedroom villa was great - and it provided all the cooking dishes and accessories we needed. A real plus to have a dishwasher . Great to have a washer and dryer when traveling

The property had a dated look. We were visitign in winter and on the coldest night of our stay (arrival) it took quite a while to heat the unit with the plug in heaters provided. The two built in heaters automatically turn off after two hours and one did not produce any heat. Very limited restaurants (with limited hours) or food choices in winter
