I had an amazing stay at Tatahi Cove Backpackers and I can't wait to go back. The atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The place was clean, cozy, and felt just like home. The kitchen and common areas were well-maintained and spacious, and the garden was such a lovely spot to relax with a morning coffee. It's also just a short walk to the beach, which made it perfect for enjoying a swim. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway close to nature. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

It's in a great location right in the village centre next to shops and food outlets and not far from the beach. It's a very well-appointed backpackers' lodge with extensive and tasteful sitting areas both inside and out and well-equipped communal kitchen. The bedroom was pleasant and the bed comfortable.

It's not the easiest place to find. You won't see a sign to Tatahi Cove Back Packers, but it's actually part of the Tatahi Lodge Beach Resort, and it's their reception where you need to check in. It's just behind the Hahei Eatery.

Very nice hostel right in the small and cute Hahei town, walking distance to the stunning Hahei beach, and great to start from to hike to Cathedral Cove (just 40 min). Very nice wooden room with super comfortable bed and bed linen, clean shared bathroom, spacious and welcoming shared kitchen and living room. Very convenient parking right in front of the room. Possibility to do laundry but you’ll need NDZ cash. The staff is really nice and helpful too. I loved the birds in the morning! Will stay here again next time!

Well situated near the shop and not far from the beautiful beach, you can enjoy your holiday there - the garden is beautiful and even if the kitchen and dining area are crowded, you can still find a place there. The beds were not so good, but it was clean and you could get fresh towels easily. Kitchen is well equipped just beware that some items did not have careful cooking users.

It was a bit strange that the staff was living with us, cooking in the same kitchen and living in the living room though they have been very friendly after a short time. It should be a 'walking village' but all the tracks (the ones starting from Hahei directly) were gone or closed due to landslides so mostly concentrate on the beach and the small town itself, just keep that in mind. Small rooms but you are in Hahei after all.

Clean and well located in Hahei. The staff were really nice and informative. Went outside of peak season so there weren’t any other guests staying which meant it was super peaceful.

A little expensive for the room considering it wasn’t ensuite. There weren’t any others guests so a little cheeky to only offer private rooms and no dorms. More signage to know the back packers is inside the lodge beach resort.

The location of the accommodation is excellent, the closest accommodation to Cathedral Cove, there is a free parking lot.

We loved our stay at Tatahi Cove Back Packer! The hostel was lovely and our private room nice and clean, with a double bed. The shared bathrooms worked really well with other guests staying in the hostel and the shared spaces were spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was really well kitted out with anything you could need, and we enjoyed the outside areas with lovely views of the gardens. It was a short walk from the beach and steps away from the brewery.

Spotless clean Room was good size for 4 Dining area and lounge were great spaces to dine and chill Location: close to grocery, bar, café and beach Kitchen well equipped in dishware, pots...

1) Both electric stoves were not working properly. Only one stove strong enough to cook. But we were not the only users of the backpackers unit. 2) The pipe system was extremely noisy when someone was using hot water, should it come from the showers or the kitchen. That system was against the wall of our room and that woke us up very early in the morning.

Friendly staff. Attentive. Hard working. Beach area out front is nice, with available kayaks. Dining area nice also- enjoyed the fire dancing show and live music. Front desk remembered my name. Taxi service at front, ability to schedule tours.

Should be more cooperation with management from adjacent properties regarding evening music and entertainment. At times 3 other properties playing loud music drowning out your musical artist. Each hotel can take turns.

Great location, very convenient for the beach, food and shopping. The nearby cafe, poorhouse and ice cream shops were daily stops. Only a few min walk to the main beach and right along the main walking path. They even provided shovels to go to the nearby hot water beach.

Would of loved to have a separate beach towel provided since the beach is the main attraction and many times travelling you don't have your own.
