The room was comfortable and clean. We’ve stayed here before so knew what to expect. Wi-Fi was good and plenty of parking. Nice quiet country location.
The breakfast wasn’t great and they tried to charge us £7.50 for 2 very average cappuccinos without telling us they would be extra. Apparently only filter coffee is included ! They waived the charge because I wasn’t happy they hadn’t told me it would be extra before I ordered it. I was due to stay there again this week but I cancelled it.

Our stay (mini break with my young son) was almost perfect! Staff, accommodation, food were all amazing. My son was so impressed with our waitress when she asked if he would like to try a drink before ordering it with dinner. And his questions about mixing food was so well received by him!! Nothing was a bother for the staff who were super chatty and friendly to my 12 year old son. Dinner was great, I would recommend their current Hake dish. As was breakfast. I booked a double room, we were allocated a family room which was spotlessly clean, and very spacious. Decor lovely. And here is the only one reason the stay was not perfect. Our room had a constant low droning noise that made you feel like you were sleeping in a engine room (I've never slept in one ;-) ). If you are not a light sleeper, this wouldn't bother you. But I am. I called down to reception and was informed the noise came from fans in the kitchen that seemed to come up through the walls. This sound eventually stopped at 12.15 (after midnight) and started up again shortly before 6am. The staff member was nice but as the hotel was fully booked, we couldn't move room. So, I would recommend staying but not in room 11 if you want a sound sleep and you are a light sleeper. Perfect otherwise.
The noise in our room as noted above - a 'humming' noise / sound. Not loud or banging, not music, etc. But as noted, if you are a light sleeper it's certainly loud enough to disrupt your sleep.

Evening meal was very good but uncomfortable as it was so cold where we were sat, would have preferred to eat in the dining room. Breakfast was really good on both days, staff really friendly and helpful. Lovely area with nice walks. Beds so lovely and big and comfy for really 2 good nights sleep. Big wardrobe with iron and ironing board inside. Nice outside areas to enjoy food and drinks.
There were no shelves or hanging space in the bathroom for any toiletries.

The location was ideal - in the country but within easy travel of Stafford. The checking in and out was seamless and the staff without exception were professional and friendly. The breakfast was superb - the only thing lacking was fruit juice. Cleanliness of the room left something to be desired. The carpet did not appear to have been vacuumed although the vacuum cleaner was left in the corridor as a trip hazard. The previous occupant had clearly had food delivered to the room and the debris was apparent. The room was cold; the only heat source was an ineffective radiator which probably needed bleeding and there was a lack of supplementary bedding. The duvet was a low rated toggle and not very warm. That apart the pub is cosy and warm and is excellent value for money and I would recommend it.

The location was perfect. Breakfast was plentiful and choice v good. Room was tidied and towels replaced each day. We had an evening meal there which was v good. There were roadworks down the road from the pub - liked that they gave me a call day before arrival to let me know, and offered to help with alternative directions to the wedding venue we would be attending.

The friendly welcome and help to the room with my many bags on my arrival was a real bonus. Nice clean and tidy room. Comfy bed and lovely clean shower too was good. There were also clean towels on the 2nd day. Nice breakfast and also nicely served. I forgot my sun glasses when I left and the lady I talked to on the phone was so very helpful and put them behind the bar for later collection. Really appreciated her help. I would book here again especially as only ten minutes to Stafford County Show!
Only 2 electrical points so a little difficult to get everything ready charged for my work day. Personally I prefer a buffet breakfast. But it was nice all the same and served by a lovely smiling waitress too. Disappointing that there wasn't much coffee in the room..but tasty biscuits.

Breakfast was great with lots of options and Beccy was absolutely fabulous. She listened, worked with us and made variations based on the individual needs of all parties. Steve, the handyman came and fixed the door locking issue at night which was incredible and he also helped out allowing us to borrow his phone to make a phonecall about our aunt's funeral the following day when we could not do it on our own. Claire was also lovely. Just so thoughtful and kind staff - fabulous and made such a great memory for us. The warm position we had in front of the open fire and ate in warmth having just arrived from hot, humid Aussie conditions into icy, chilly but invigorating conditions of England. Ahhh, just delicious.
