We had a great stay in Calma do Mar. Accomodation has a really good location, great for Pico hike, close to big supermarket and Madalena port. Room was spaceus and really clean. Kitchen is really well equiped. Breakfast has a big variety of local products. We even got a pre-packed breakfast for our early morning Pico hike. Host is super nice, communication was really easy, self-check in process was super smooth. Free parking available on site, great common areas for resting after busy day exploring Pico island. There is also one super cute cat for all cat lovers. Our best accomodation on Pico island! :)

Lovely place to stay for a few days on Pico. The staff is super friendly and inviting, the daily breakfast is delicious and the overall space is very comfortable. There is a yard with some green space out back, plenty of tables to eat and relax at and a couple friendly cats hanging out if you're a cat person. Location is a short walk to the supermarket as well as a handful of restaurants. "Downtown" is about a 5-10 minute walk as well. Very convenient if you don't have a car and they have free parking on site as well so very convenient if you do have a car. They have a community fridge with space for everyone staying and shelf space for dry goods. Lovely stay.

Can't quite name anything. This place was perfect for our short stay on Pico.

This was a quiet and very comfortable place. My room had a balcony and was overlooking the ocean. There is a fully equipped and clean kitchen in the main part of the house to use as well as a little sitting area for reading. The hostess was very helpful and went above and beyond in order to make my stay as pleasurable and relaxing as possible. She helped me with phone calls and shared helpful information. Breakfasts were healthy and to my taste. There was more than enough food for one person, for example there were 12 little jars of jam to choose from combined with a warm breakfast like eggs, freshly baked buns, vegetables, fruit etc. I would recommend this place and would go back there, it felt like home.

I had a truly wonderful stay at this accommodation – it exceeded all my expectations! The place itself is absolutely beautiful: spotless, tastefully decorated, and full of charm. You can tell a lot of care and love went into creating this space – it felt like a home away from home. What made my experience even more special was the kindness of the host. Not only did he help me plan my hiking route, but he also gave me great advice for climbing Pico. To my surprise, on the morning of the hike, I found a sandwich waiting for me in the fridge – such a thoughtful and generous gesture that meant a lot. The location is perfect for exploring the area, especially if you're into nature and adventure. After long days out, it was always a pleasure to return to this peaceful and cozy retreat. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area – you won’t regret it!

Lovely place to stay if you are visiting Pico. Only about 15 minutes airport and a short walk from the centre of Madalena (and the ferry terminal). The staff are great - super friendly and helpful. I also liked being able to use the kitchen whenever I liked, and having space to store food in the fridge and on the shelves. Breakfast was fantastic - lots of local produce, and the views from the breakfast room are amazing. Would definitely return.

Nothing - everything was great.

The host is extremely nice and kind, helping me with laundry service, renting bike and hailing taxi etc. As I need to get up early before breakfast time to climb mount pico, she even prepared snacks and sandwich for me. The facility is top with fully equipped kitchen and pleasant common area. The majority of guests are Germans.

The bunker bed is a bit strange but works for me as a solo traveler. My balcony is facing a sheep pen, and these animals are very cute but can make noise in early morning lol

Calma do Mar offers a fantastic location with stunning views. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable, spotless, and thoughtfully designed for a relaxing experience. Breakfast here is outstanding, featuring a delicious variety that starts your day perfectly. No complaints here!

Owners were super friendly and their house was very cosy with a nice garden and terrace. Just around the corner from the beach, where you could watch the sunset. Room was nicer than I expected from the pictures (the bunk bed was wider than it looks in the pictures and very comfortable). Breakfast was great with a lot of local foods. Very clean and equipped with everything I needed. And great price too. My biggest recommendation!

Very helpful host. Can help with anything. Spotless clean place. Nice breakfast room with balcony which you can use all day long. You have your own shelf in a fridge if you wish. So you can choose to shop in a close by supermarket and have your dinner here. Also a lovely garden. Close to the harbour. 10 min. walk. Behind the place is a trail to the down town area along the water front. VERY nice. Also within walking distance to the vineyards and the red mill. The place is perfect. Would stay here again and recommend it strongly!

I liked everything about it!

The room was relatively large and comfortable with a nice vew of the surf. Spotlessly clean and well-appointed. Plus, it was nicely "eco-oriented" with sustainable features everywhere and good information about eco-issues. The breakfast was excellent. Edna (a staff member) prepared eggs to my order - something I hadn't experienced in a long time on my trip. A very nice treat. The breakfast room also shared te view of the surf over the wall.

The location was nice for access to the coastal walkway on the south of the town, on the way to the southern section of the UNESCO WH site. However, it was a little far for walking access to the town with its greater variety of restaurants, the ferry, the wine museum, etc. There were restaurants and a nice Continente supermarket just a few blocks from the guesthouse.
