The Clos is a beautiful historic building looking over a secluded walled garden. It is completely quiet, yet within easy walking distance of the centre of Le Mans and all the main attractions (apart from the racing circuit). The building is beautifully furnished with antiques, and our room on the first floor was huge - with an almost equally large bathroom. The bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, including a range of home made jams, some made with fruit from the garden. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, and we had some good conversations in a mixture of French and English. One bonus is that there are free secure parking spaces available in a nearby underground garage - the owners request that you reserve in advance, presumably to ensure the spaces aren’t taken by other guests.

What lovely owners who were so friendly and helpful. They were perfect hosts and made us feel very welcome. They helped with restaurant reservation and gave useful information on the sights of the city. The breakfast was great and they were so kind to provide gluten free options...what a treat! The room was spacious, tasteful and authentic I appreciated the quality of the bed linen and towels. All very thoughtful. It was a quiet location and we managed to park on the road outside the accommodation, then it was a short walk into the old part of the city.

Such a beautiful house and gardens in a great location in Le Mans close to all amenities with plenty of bars and restaurants and the beautiful medieval old town. All within walking distance. The house is very comfortable with great beds. Bernaud and his wife were great hosts and gave us restaurant recommendations and advice for our one night stop over trip. Such a lovely couple. Very warm and hospitable. Breakfast was great too and nothing was too much trouble.

There wasn't anything we didn't like. What might be nice is to have tea and coffee facilities in the room for a late night/early morning cuppa. I'm sure Bernaud and his wife would accommodate this but it would be nice not to have to disturb them.

Location ideal, a short walk to old city area, where the host’s restaurant recommendation turned out to be one of the best meals of our holiday in France. Secure parking was an important factor for us (car full of bags). Warm and very hospitable host couple, who went out of their way to greet on arrival and ensure breakfast was well prepared (including home made jam). Room attention to detail and comfort was extremely well thought out and presented.

What lovely hosts, so friendly and helpful, breakfast as it should be, all sat round a big dining table with delicious homemade preserves and cakes, lovely bread etc.6

This is about France overall, please, when you offer tea, can you use freshly boiled water and pour it over the tea bag/leaves, it doesn't infuse very well with just hot water. It is as much an art to us Brits as coffee is to the French, but apart from my little niggle everything else was rosy

Very friendly welcome, able to understand english when my french is very little. Bernard and wife offered french hospitality at its best. Even homemade cakes and jams! Continental breakfast but fab. Peaceful location, prefect walk into Cathedral area and a car garage... Please make sure you offer and pay the local taxes ... keep it independent!

Our room was perfect with air con too, only downside - take a small overnight bag, if your room is on 2nd floor narrow stairs. Unlikely you will manage large suitcase - but talk to Bernard if booking in advance :-)

Lovely, fantastic people. They allowed me to put my old MG in their private courtyard overnight. The breakfast is exactly what you expect in France but seldom delivers - these have it right. Massive comfy bed and a great hot shower - perfect

Traffic through Le Mans was horrific - not their fault but it took an hour and a half from the end of the peage / ring road to get to.

This is a gem very close to the main square and old town in Le Mans. Comfortable and large room with modern facilities in a beautiful old building . Classic French breakfast with great home made jam. Secure free 'residents' underground parking a minute away. And lovely hosts! Couldn't have asked for more, a shame we couldn't have stayed longer. We'll be back

A perfect oasis in the heart of Le Mans. Characterful and comfortable rooms, lovely en suites. A great continental breakfast served at the beautiful dining table, which made for lively conversation with other guests. Great location for walking access to city centre and Plantagenet City.
