We liked the location, we used to live in Rainhill, but have lived in the Midlands for over 30 years. The breakfast was good 👍, the Staff were very pleasant.

The room was okay, we missed having air conditioning. We normally stay in Premier inns because we know what to expect. and the beds are comfortable. When we looked out of the window and saw the window sill, it didn't create a good impression, but you expect that from older buildings. We would have spent more in the bar, but they had run out of draught beer, so we ended up with 2 bottles of 330 MLS of lager for £10, so we only had one drink ( we chose to go into Rainhill instead.

We live in Wrexham, and needed to be in Whiston Hospital for an 8 am appointment, the hotel being 2 miles from the hospital is in an ideal location. Beautiful building, both inside and out. All the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. Enjoyed our evening meal in the restaurant, both the meal and drinks in the bar were reasonably priced.

Our room! Sparsely furnished, a wardrobe with just 4 coat hangers, for 2 of us, nowhere to put our clothes when we undressed. Stools for bedside units, but only one table lamp. Nowhere to sit except for on the bed. There was a low table housing the tea and coffee making facilities. In 2025 No USB sockets! Would have liked a shower with better 'water pressure'!

Firstly the check in staff were lovley. I had to call ahead and say we were going to be late and apologise, when we got there the man on reception was very very kind, extremely welcoming, also very helpful. The room was a good size, the bed was very large (putting aside that it was 2 singles pushed together but they never came apart so can't complain), room had alot of natural light, a large TV, the shower water was lovley and warm and also had good pressure. The room was very very clean, spotless. They provided more than you're average hotel. The large grounds and very intriguing history of the building definitely make it a worthwhile stay. Short walk to train station into city centre which is very handy. Large carpark. Room decor was also lovley 😊

Bare in mind we booked the budget room so the cheapest, I cannot speak for any other rooms. The windows were not double glazed so the room was chilly without opening the windows. It was very noisy room between VERY loud pipes and the water flowing through them, being able to accurately hear anyone talking in the hallway and the footsteps. (this was a design choice I think but) the shower had no door which was odd? Toilet came away from wall when sat on. Mattress was rather uncomfortable and struggled to get a good sleep.

We really enjoyed our week stay, the standard room, location, facilities and staff were all excellent. When our shower wasn't working properly, the lovely girl on reception promptly upgraded us to a superior room. The night porter was happy to keep the bar open late, to let us and friends also staying, wet the baby's head, when we arrived back late from Whiston Hospital where our daughter had just delivered her first baby. We travelled from Scotland for the birth and are planning on staying here again for our beautiful grandson's future birthday celebrations.

The property is a grade 2 listed building and is beautiful! The staff were very warm and friendly and very helpful when needing assistance. Beautiful grounds. Great shower.

So, after seeing pictures of the property I had really high expectations. And when I arrived outside and the reception area did not disappoint. However through the hallways there’s a very musty smell, looks very tired and dated could do with modernising a little maybe. Also there’s creepy rams heads dotted around the place…..one in my room on the windowsill and one in the hallway, I didn’t see the point in these as decorations, they are just creepy and don’t match the hotel vibe! Bed very noisy and dipped in the middle! Cupboard smelt! Just a few little tweaks and the jobs a good’un!!!

Me and my husband came and stayed here after our wedding reception ended, we stayed for 2 nights and decided that we would stay another night but in the bridal suite, it is nothing short of gorgeous and the twin tubs are to die for! The property is absolutely beautiful and the staff are all extremely pleasant and kind. I would love to come stay again!

We didn’t know that the spa was permanently closed until arrival, we was quite achey and would’ve benefited from a spa day, the spa not being open wouldn’t have stopped us from staying here, we just would’ve booked a mobile masseuse to come out to us in advance if we’d have known!

Our stay was amazing. The room was lovely and very clean, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, especially the woman at reception who provided us with all the information we needed for our stay. We also really enjoyed the on site bar and restaurant which offered amazing food and drinks. Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend.

Friendly and polite staff, very welcoming.

The decor in my room was initially surprising as it was fish themed wallpaper. The decor inside the halls communal rooms’ were very inviting and well presented, I could not say the same for the room in which I stayed. For the value in which I payed for just one night, this was something I could accept. If I had a longer stay I would have liked a room slightly less attractive to the eye.
