Lovely historic building & attractive location in quiet hamlet, overlooking the ancient church. The bedroom had character, such as an old fireplace. There was some interesting Beatles’ era memorabilia in the bar downstairs, as George Harrison’s sister held her wedding reception here. Quite a few names of people married over the road etched in the window glass too. Passable pub grub. Very handy & yet feels faraway from the hospital at Broad Green. Staff were very friendly & helpful & breakfast was very good. We were lucky to find the beautiful C12 church open on a Thursday morning. A delightful & soulful atmosphere.
It could do with a lick of paint in places.

Highly recommend!!! Childwall Abbey ( pronounced Chilwall - silent D) is a hidden gem. 💎 Just across the road from a lovely church on a quiet street. Very homely, welcoming, accommodating and thoroughly enjoyable. The rooms were very clean, toasty warm, very comfy bed and a nice bathroom. The staff are genuinely lovely kind people, who go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable Good pints served Excellent cooked breakfast with a great cappuccino Check in and out was simple I will most definitely stopping here again.
This isn’t about the property itself, I should have done more research into its location. It is a 20 minute drive to the centre and the price of the Ubers/ taxis were pricey, having said that. It wouldn’t stop me staying at this hotel again.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was well cleaned but some aspects are rather worn. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms were warm. We were interested to see a link to the Beatles in their Quarrymen days which we hadn't known about. Nice photos and the staff showed us the venue for their gig for George's brother's wedding reception. Great fun. Very good value for money.
The plumbing needs a bit of renovation and the provided towels were small and thin. Breakfast wasn't great but the staff did their best to accommodate us.

The staff were super friendly and so accommodating. One of the staff members knew I would be out all day during a training course and offered to pop the heating on in our room to make sure it was comfortable for when we arrived back which added a lovely personal touch to the experience🤗 Nothing was ever to much to ask of them and the room was super clean! We stayed in room 4 and it was nice and spacious with massive gorgeous windows. Some of the other rooms are smaller but ours was perfect.
The shower can be noisy

What a surprise to find his property at the very last minute, as a quick stop before flying out of Liverpool the next day. The property is so much charmed, history and is an absolute delight. The surroundings are so beautiful. The room is very large, comfortable, and superbly clean. It was fun for me to walk through the bar restaurant area before going upstairs to the room, such a charming feeling and unique for me. The staff were completely supportive and went out of their way for a few requests I had.

Great stay thanks, room was lovely and clean, warm and comfortable bed, great service from all the staff who were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent especially the breakfasts which kept us going for the rest of the day. Great position in lovely grounds and very good parking. Thanks for the advice re the bus tour which we thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely return if we get to re-visit Liverpool, thanks again for a lovely stay.

Our room was clean and spacious, with a selection of fresh towels. The hotel is situated n a historic, quiet neighbourhood with the car park straight across the road. The narrow road makes the jaunt with bags from car to entrance, very short. This car park even has facilities for ev charging! Breakfast was served promptly, with lovely runny eggs and refillable drinks? I question this as i had two fresh orange juice (the second being a large glass) but the price was the same, and we had a pot of tea included all for the one advertised price! If this is the standard, it was so nice to not have the surprise of lots of extras added onto the price when you go to pay!
Just a couple of issues, possibly irrelevant to some…we were going to a concert and so needed to get ready…two ladies…only one mirror and the plug sockets where no where near so it was a good job i took my own mirror. Also, there was only two plug sockets, that we could find, which facilitated the kettle as well. One thing that may be a serious issue for some guests was the very noisy water tank? We guessed it was this as the sound was triggered when flushing the toilet, and possibly the neighbouring rooms toilet?? It did not disturb us but i guess the potential is there and it may distress small children. I did not ask whether this sound was isolated to that room only, so it may be something to enquire.

Very very busy when we arrived. I mean very busy! Staff acknowledged us immediately and dealt with us promptly. Room was clean, spacious and ok, no changed to a room with a view view and tv wasn't cooperating. Due to how busy everything was we settled in. In the morning I asked if we could be moved. No problem! And all sorted, and with a smile and great attitude.
Really? If I was going for Gold, after a huge night, it was a bit messy outside with lot of cigarette buys and glasses. I've got a thing about pride of business, brush up outside your business every day.

We travelled with our daughter and others (total 8) for one night. The building itself is wonderful, full of character. The staff were absolutely brilliant, really friendly and helpful. The room was spotless clean and the bed was so comfortable. We all (8 of us) had an early start on the morning of departure and the staff arranged for us to take breakfast sandwiches with us, despite it being before breakfast was served. Would definitely stay again and many thanks to the staff for their hospitality.
The only thing I would say is that the hallways and toilets in the bar are in need of a freshen up, but this would not put me off from staying again. Our room was spotless clean. Would definitely stay again.

Even though I was a sole traveller I was given a family room on arrival which was certainly spacious and had everything I needed with a large, very comfortable bed and ensuite bathroom. There were good choices for breakfasts on offer every morning and the hot food was cooked to order. Even though my bedroom was over the general bar area little could be heard from below. There is also an extensive patio and garden area in which to sit, admire the views and relax.
There's not much you can do about the weather as it rained a couple of times!
