Easy to check in, friendly greeting, rooms huge and well equipped (slight issue with damage to side of bath panel but cant be helped so didnt mention), very hot day so sat outside and had live entertainment. It was very busy so staff were a bit pushed but pleasant enough just obviously a bit stressed. Evening mea; was great value and very tasty according to all our party of 6 friends. all in all good day and night enjoyed by all, would definitely recommend if someone wanted a short stay in easy reach of Manchester, Cheshire or Lancashire area (all within 20mins).

Staff a bit stressed but it really was incredibly busy, damage to side of bath but not mentioned as nothing that could be done at that late stage.

This hotel was where we celebrated many events at Lancashire Steel well over fifty years ago. Visited several times recently and is still a great hotel which obviously well caters for both the locals and staying guests. Well located for getting into rural Cheshire, Manchester and can highly recommend a drink and a bit to eat at Irlam station. Certainly not what you’d expect for a small railway station. Looking forward to visiting again as brought back many memories from my early career and the great people I worked with. Everything for our party was great.

Nothing to complain about.

The location and outside look of the property doesn’t do justice to what you get inside- given the standard of accommodation/service/food etc you’d expect it to be in some quaint perfect Cheshire village rather than where it actually is. The property is really clean tidy, a bit of a maze/tardis and full of surprises in terms of size and how many rooms there are.

Nothing, although the grounds look like they’d seen some action and are looking a bit worn, but probably due to lack of rain rather than any lack of care

Lovely location, the hotel decor was really nice, loved the wood effects around the place and the old pictures on the walls, really gave the place a nice feel. The room was really well presented and the bed nice and comfy, everything we needed was there and it smelled fresh. Staff were very welcoming and friendly too, and the breakfast was great, lots of choice and all fresh, we really did enjoy our stay.

I felt some things were overlooked hence why I've only scored a 9, we struggled to fmd a menu in the bar, so had to look online, but there wasn't a drinks menu on there either so had to ask what coffees were available from one of the bar staff. The beer glasses were misty, they just looked old and need of a good clean, perhaps even replaced with new. We found a lot of chairs that were heavily stained too which was a shame, two couches in the bar area, and the chairs in the restaurant were staied, also, the carpet in our room was staľned too. Having said that though, this has no impact on our overall opinion of the place, and if we are ever in Warrington again then we defmitely would stay here, we loved it.

Friendly staff, lovely room well equipped and spotless. It was great to be able to sit outside with a drink. The outside area was perfect for kids, they were having a fantastic time. Location perfect for us visiting Tatton park and RHS Bridgewater.

Minor niggles, tap in shower broken, small shower head holder broken. The velux controls needed to be reset manually, which meant standing on the the desk. These did not effect the enjoyment of our stay.

Had 9 rooms for a family meet up. Great location, great play area for the kids, great evening meal and breakfast. Comfy bed, clean room which was very nice. All the rooms were lovely and well presented and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful relating to the restaurant and the rooms. Would stay again.

Maybe not somewhere it you want a few drinks in the evening. Whilst 3 of our party sat in the bar area all the lights were turned off so they left and the woman made a comment along the lines of....if that isn't a hint I don't know what is" which was pretty rude given the money spent on rooms, food and drinks for 20 people. Just giving some notice saying they were closing up would have sufficed. This was a lovely family catch up which was great apart from this one thing.

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean with a huge bathroom and very comfy beds. Dinner in the bar was good as was the cooked and continental breakfast included in our booking. Loved the ducks queuing up outside for their own breakfast too! We booked this at literally the last minute when another place fell through, so it wasn't in exactly the location we had anticipated but still within easy reach of Manchester.

We loved everything about this place, it was exactly what we were looking for. The decor and ambiance seems just like it was back in the day. The rooms are all individually named for a local farm or location. Very clean. Anna makes an awesome cup of coffee! The pond in back has ducks in it. They have an outdoor patio that was wonderful along with a playground for children. 10 out of 10 would most definitely stay again!

Lovely little place situated in a pretty location. Food and drinks were good. Room was clean and I had my little dog with me and he was welcomed and had a bowl in the room for him and a towel which was appreciated. It’s an old inn so noise from the bar was quite loud and I could hear neighbours clearly but nothing that kept me awake. Was a lovely stay. Whilst dogs are not allowed in the restaurant which is fair enough they are welcomed into the bar and you can have food in the bar. The breakfast was excellent.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.

We had the Black Swan superior double room which was very spacious - decor was not modern however this was expected and was in keeping with the period of the property/presented as per the images on the site, The room itself was clean with the usual complimentary coffee/tea supplies. Bed was a little firmer than we are used to having in accomodations however it wasn't entirely uncomfortable as it didn't keep us awake! Shower pressure was average but we found the bathroom very warm as we were not able to work out how to turn the heated towel rails off, which is probably due to our unfamiliarity with this type of item. Room was initially a little overheated but we were able to open the window to allow cool air in. Would recommend some instructions for basic use of heating/shower operations.. a lot of the equipment is different to Australia and we found generally with all our accoms that we had to work out how to use things or, in some cases, not use them at all due to lack of instruction. Location suited us for a midway point to our next destination and, with parking and breakfast included in the price, it represented good value. Breakfast was cooked independently - not served buffet style - which was good as it allowed you to customise the way eggs were served however there was some cereals/fruit available on nearby table to also help yourself to along with juices.
