Excellent location. Lovely building with lots of character. Plenty of parking. The hotel has a homely feel and staff were welcoming and friendly. Bar area and restaurant are comfortable and nicely furnished and the menu is varied. Our room in the newer part of the hotel was spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of choice for both hot and cold food. Lovely big bath towels were much appreciated as were the tissues provided.

We had booked a room in the Lakeside part of the building but were initially offered a feature room. This would have been very nice, but my tall husband could not have stood in the bath to have a shower. However this was swiftly resolved and we were given a room in another part of the hotel. Thank you. Glasses for drinking the bottled water in the room would be a nice touch. We did point out on leaving that the shower screen in our room didn’t fit properly therefore water leaked over the floor.

Our room was magnificent! An enormous double bed and a single. Comfy armchairs. Antique furniture: wardrobe, full length mirror like my grannie had. Yet the bathroom was modern and beautifully presented. Everything was spotless. We had an enormous toasted sandwich for lunch when we arrived. We dined in the dining room and the same for the buffet breakfast. Staff were so welcoming and helpful. We absolutely loved the house and the grounds....especilly our meeting with Allan on our walk beside the lake. Wow. Such a pity you are so far away from where we live.

Absolutely nothing! Faultless.

The accommodations were every bit as lovely as they are in the photos. The bed was very comfortable, the room spacious, the hot water was plentiful. We had asked for a quiet room away from their event rooms (many weddings and celebrations happen there all week long), and they delivered. Breakfast was great: the food was high quality and diverse. The servers were attentive to our tables for tea/coffee refills. The staff are all really nice people. They make the place, in my opinion.

Only nitpicky things: the fuse had blown for the heated towel bar in our bathroom, and though staff tried, it never did get fixed over the six days we were there. We arranged for the room to be serviced about every other day, but some days we could see that it was a partial job--the tub wasn't cleaned or the rugs still had some grit. The restaurant has beautiful views, and we ate there twice, but after that, we didn't because the menu had a limited selection. There are a couple of nice pubs nearby, though.

The hotel and the grounds were lovely. We had a feature room which was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. The gentleman that served us in the bar and restaurant was excellent and a credit to the hotel.

We found that the restaurant menu didn't have a lot of choice and we found the food was good but expensive for what we got. Also we ordered 2 coffees which was £11 which I know it is a hotel and you expect to pay a little more but that is too much

Beautiful location & very gracious old house tho bedroom a bit tired. The breakfasts were excellent. We stayed 3 nights and had 2 evening meals which were lovely but pricey & what my husband calls 'pretty food but doesn't fill you up!' The disabled facilities weren't good -a couple of steps to get into reception & 3 more to get to ground floor bedrooms. Otherwise we had a lovely stay & the staff were very pleasant & helpful.

Steps as I have mobility issues

The hotel staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was comfortable and clean. The public areas were clean and pleasant, including the bar area, which was decorated for Christmas. The gardens were pleasant and well-maintained. The building itself is quite individual and attractive, in its way! Our meal in the restaurant was good. The hotel was easy to find, and quite convenient for Manchester and the motorways, although it was in a quiet location.

The shower over the bath in our room was a little cramped due to the sloping ceiling.

Nice large room with a large comfortable bed. Breakfast was good but the evening meal was excellent. Staff were friendly and happy to help. The grounds were nice with enough car parking.

The bathroom smelled of damp and there were water stains to the ceiling and walls of the room. No USB connections in the room but this is a minor point. Ideally I would have liked an electric car charger in the carpark.

We stayed on two separate nights, 2 weeks apart and were delighted with the friendly welcome when we arrived the first time. Our first room 'Kensington' was spacious and extremely comfortable. Food was excellent at dinner; good at breakfast as the buffet was frequently replenished

On our second visit the receptionist had trouble finding our booking which was embarrassing. Our second room 'Buckingham' was more cramped but still quite comfortable. The route to the breakfast room needs signposting: the receptionist must be tired of directing everyone

Lovely, old world type of country hotel. Set in beautiful grounds and ample parking. The staff were welcoming and helpful. A porter was very pleasant and helped carry in our large dog crate to our room. Our room was comfortable and very spacious. The breakfast was wonderful. The best I've ever had. I would certainly recommend.

It's difficult to think of anything. Perhaps some of the furniture looked tired or needed some minor repair.

Smart modern interiors, very quiet room, good location, good breakfast.

We enjoyed the evening meal but my duck meat was undercooked and too tough to cut. I asked for the chef to cook it for a minute longer and I was told I had to wait for it for another 10 minutes. By then I finished my veges and when the meat arrived it was still not edible. We didn't get any apology from the chef. We paid the full bill.
