Well furnished, clean and thoughtfully designed accommodation. Helpful, friendly, welcoming and accommodating staff. Pub food was top notch as was our Sunday afternoon experience in the bar. I’d like to highlight the assistance and welcome given from Kelly. She had the seldom found ability to say ‘yes’ to her customers and for the first time in a very long time was shown to my room in that traditional but now, not so often seen hotelier tradition. We took Paddy our Cockapoo along with us. He’s a bit temperamental around strangers but he was made as welcome as anyone could be, a very big ‘tick’ for those of us who love to take our fur babies away with us. Thank you.

Bar opening times seemed a little unclear and inconsistent. We’d hoped to enjoy a few drinks after late Sunday lunch but felt like we were imposing upon the staff after 9pm.

Food was very good, some unusual tweeks in the menu e.g. home made gluten free nut roast (very good), breakfast was excellent - the real Craster kipper and other locally sourced ingredients. Room was lovely, comfortable, spacious, clean and quiet. Location is excellent for Rothbury area, Alnwick, the coast and close to the River Coquet. St. Oswald's Way runs alomg the river right next to the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The login instructions - address and password were not included in the room information. There was a bright green light in the fire alarm in the bedroom ceiling that kept flashing making it difficult to get to sleep.

Lovely location, amazing staff, and the cottage is lovely. The breakfast was amazing! Just a few bits and bobs at the cottage could be sorted. No mirror in the double bedroom, and the blind only raises a third of the way. The heater in the living area isn't working but alternative heaters were provided, we just needed info on which to use and how to use them. A coffee press would have been great, we don't used pods, but coffee bags were provided, as was milk. We loved it, we would definitely stay again.

Nothing!

The staff were excellent, especially Kelly; the young lad that helped her in the evening, and the woman that looked after us at breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble and they all made us feel really welcome. We had an evening meal on both occasions and the menu choice and quality of cooking were both excellent. The service was consistently high and we'd definitely recommend dining there. Overall, it was a great place to stay, especially if planning on visiting Cragside!

Nothing really - it's a very old pub so any oddities are part of its character and charm so don't expect perfection, expect an historic building that's been loved and cared for over the centuries! (NB - it's a remote location and the mobile signal is almost non-existent so make use of the free guest wi-fi they provide and you're sorted!)

The hotel was absolutely fantastic we stayed for a long weekend the location was perfect for exploring nice and rural but not far from nice little market towns. The rooms were very well appointed and really clean and comfy with everything you needed. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was lovely and the breakfast choices were fabulous (speaking as a fussy eater, I couldn't fault it!). Staff were really friendly and helpful throughout the stay. I would definitely return

Nothing, if I was really pushed to find something a slightly more powerful shower would be nice

The property is situated in a rural location and it was quiet. The Pub has a lot of character and the accommodation was clean and comfortable. The Cottage had its own garden, which was great for the dog. The cottage was well equipped and had a separate conservatory and the beds were very comfortable. The first night we decided to eat in the pub as it was convenient and the Sunday Menu was available. I thought the wine was rather expensive. The Breakfasts were very good, using excellent produce and plenty of choices. The staff were helpful and very pleasant. Overall, I felt it was excellent value for money. We would definitely stay again.

For a dog friendly property, I could not find any waste disposal bins. The Bathroom door did not have a lock and the blinds let in a bit of light, which meant I woke very early. I could not find a recycling bin in the property. There was no hand wash in the Kitchen. I think if these details were reviewed I would have rated it as excellent.

Breakfast was extremely generous with lots of options and made with quality ingredients and some locally supplied

Room ventilation we had to leave the room door and fire escape door open to let some air throught the room as the front window was fixed shut and only small fanlights on the rear window opened bathroom smelt of damp and mould due to defective mechanical ventilation/mould in silicone seals around shower etc Building needs new windows/ cills were rotten and some refurbishment

Very friendly and helpful staff. Character of old inn in lovely location, not over-modernised. Clearly liked and well supported by locals. Food in the evening was middle of the road pub grub, generous portions, not overpriced.

Rooms quite small and cramped, although our bed was comfortable we tended to trip over each other, and only one chair to share. Shower equally small and shower tray didn't drain well, controls difficult to manage. But very clean, and well maintained.

Great staff, really friendly and welcoming. Great with grandkids at dinner. Room was good (except broken shower head bracket temporarily tied up with a tie wrap). Very clean. Food was good at dinner (perhaps just a little on the high side price wise). Breakfast very good and plenty of it. Location was very quiet and peaceful.

Nothing really except the already mentioned broken shower head bracket that took a fair bit of fiddling to get the shower head to point in the right direction (and stay there).

Location is very pretty and easy to get to Breakfast and the meal we had was excellent

The room was freezing when we arrived and despite the heating being turned on the bathroom remained chilly There was also a closed funeral party on in the bar when we arrived so we were told we had to sit in an empty dining room for four hours till they left Would have been nice to have been notified before hand then we could have called somewhere else for a drink
