Loved our bedroom, really thoughtfully planned and decorated.bed was comfortable. Shower was great and towels were super soft. Breakfast was delicious, great presentation and wonderful mix of granola and yoghurt, with separate sliced melon, procuitto, slices of Brie cheese and pain au chocolat.. I chose the continental breakfast. My husband was also very pleased with his English breakfast dining area for breakfast was lovely and the staff very attentive. . We didn’t have any as we’d already eaten, but the wood fired pizzas looked wonderful.
There’s no private parking, but plenty of space to park free of charge on the road. It could be more difficult to park in the peak of the summer holidays period.

Brilliant location in the heart of the village. Easy walking distance to all other places. Alnwick and Bamburgh within a short distance to drive or a good walk for those people who want a good walking experience. Breakfast first class, order the evening before and ample choice for all tastes. My partner is lactose and nut intolerant. However, we informed the hotel when booking and lactose free milk and spread was an available for mealtime. Staff checked each morning to ensure my partner had ample for her needs. Couldn’t fault the staff.
Parking is a bit hit and miss. Parked outside hotel first evening but had to drive around a bit before a suitable parking slot found. NOT the hotels fault, just the way the village parking works.

The short answer - this place is wonderful, bursting with character, in an incredible location, and the bedroom was sumptuously comfortable. Just go and stay! The longer answer (if you're not already searching your diary to book in a visit) is this: the welcome was so warm, and the staff were all so helpful and kind throughout our stay (4 nights in March 2025). The friendly, wood panelled bar has two roaring fires, lots of dogs, walkers off the beach, groups of friends having food, and excellent local beers, and a good selection of wines. It was such a welcoming place to spend time. We ate there three times because the food was SO good, the fish and chips some of the best we've ever had, and the veg curry was delicious too. (no food on Sunday nights, otherwise we'd have eaten there 4 nights!). The bedroom (we treated ourselves to room 1 up in the attic space) was SO comfortable. The bed was like a huge cloud, with a sofa and coffee table as well, plus a huge tv. The bathroom had a large walk in shower and a lovely bath. There was coffee and tea in the room and nice big handmade (?) mugs to drink from. We were so happy up there, and there were sea views (just a glimpse) in two directions, and you look down on the village shop opposite - open 7 days a week. It is 3 minutes walk from the most incredible beach, with it's endless golden sand. Great for short or long walks. The breakfasts were delicious, cooked or their own take on continental. We couldn't have been happier, and felt we'd won the lottery finding The Red Lion.
Absolutely nothing.

A pleasant pub, centrally located in this beautiful coastal village with spacious, well-appointed and well-maintained rooms. Staff were helpful, and the bar was friendly and weloming. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice. As well as the pub, there are excellent eating places in the village, although booking is necessary.
Parking is an issue. It must be a real problem in the school holidays. There isn't even a dedicated drop-off, although the street is one-way so you can just double-park briefly outside the pub.

Beautiful inn, loved everything about it. Staff were lovely. Breakfasts exceptional choice. Bar downstairs cosy and can’t wait to visit again. The attentional to detail was outstanding. Alnmouth is absolutely gorgeous, but it’s a little tricky to get around using the buses, which are a short walk away and not as frequent as expected. Train station 30-40 minutes walk away. Northumberland is amazing, if you want a relaxing away from the hustle and bustle break. We adore it.

Great location, very attentive staff, easy check in and communication leading up to our stay was excellent. Room was very comfortable, shower facility was great and the tea & coffee facilities were a welcome addition.
Not an issue for our stay but you would need to state whether you can't cope with stairs. Our room (7) was up a small narrow flight of stairs. We had cycling panniers to carry up and down and it was a little precarious but we managed but maybe someone unstable on their feet with luggage might struggle

The breakfast is taken in a room adjacent to the bar and apart from cereals and fruit juices the courses, which have been chosen the night before, are waitress served. This may sound imperfect but it meant all food arrived hot and the tables were cleared immedately. Car parking is hit and miss but by waiting outside the Inn the staff came and collected our luggage, all of which was in the room by the time I had parked.
Car Parking. The only place to park is in the road and this is limited to 2 hours up to 1800. This in turn means the car has to be moved by 1000 the following morning. It took me three circulations of the place (it is virtually a one way system) before a vacant place became available. I would suggest anyone going to stay there times their arrival for after 1600

This is a lovely typical pub with rooms in a pretty village/small town. Gorgeous room with excellent shower room and comfy chair. Lovely situation in the village with walks to beach and a garden to sit in during the evening. Great breakfast and Pizza available in evening.
We were aware of the lack of parking near to the pub from other comments and this was the only down side when you have limited mobility issues.

All the staff are friendly and helpful. My room (room 3) was decorated to a high standard and quality.
The shutters in my room (room 3) are nice but don't quite block the light as I stayed in the summer I was woken by the sun at 5am. the addition of some Roman blinds would be good to give the option of blocking out the light further. I have to say this is a very minor thing and perhaps a personal thing.

3 breakfasts on offer. I had all 3. Full English, Kipper & Continental on my 3 mornings. I like variety. Coffee in a cafetière was very good. Piping hot & smooth. Good step-in shower. Good controls & volume. Good towels. Downstairs bar was cosy. Parking in November is fine.
Room temp was slightly below preferred temp. Couldn't increase temp in bedroom radiator. Bathroom rad was actually warmer. Shower cubicle had nowhere to place soap/shampoo etc.
