Staff were chatty great location and lovely decking area. Room was clean and we had a good night's sleep, showers good plenty of towels. Asked for a hairdryer it was brought immediately. The breakfast was included in a very reasonable price for a night's accommodation. Plenty of choice we opted for a full english which was very good, served with tea and toast, also asked if we wanted a latte or cappuccino 👍🏼☕ Would definitely go back and soon. No idea why this place has been given bad reviews in the past. We both would recommend.

Bit of fuss on the bed with cushions and a bed throw on the bottom. A bit quiet more customers would add to the atmosphere.

The reviews. On here are not right we loved it ues rooms are a bit dated but they are trying they best to decorate and we stayed in a twin room with our dog shower was perfect room was clean and it was nice and warm

Had a lovely 3 night stay at the Schooner, we had the full english breakfast all 3 mornings which set us up nicely for the day, service was quick and it was good value for money. We stayed in room 4 which was over the front door and had a sea view, and opening sash windows, the room was clean and comfortable with an en suite shower room. Martin the owner was very friendly and helpful, and on checking out he even offered to get someone to give us a lift to the station, and gave us 2 bottles of water for our train journey. Contrary to many of the reviews we found the staff were friendly and helpful at all times, and the owner particularly. The room itself was clean and nicely decorated, as was our bathroom, the breakfast room seems to have been recently renovated and was very nice, the hotel also has a nice beer garden area which is lovely on a sunny evening.

The beds were very comfortable and the shower bath worked extremely well once you got the hang of using the taps and had excellent water pressure. We were pleased to be supplied with tea, milk and coffee in our room. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, letting us leave our bags with them on our last day to go to the beach.

The only problem that occurred was that we found the key code lock on the night door was a bit stuck and didn't seem to work but the friendly night manager came straight after we called the number provided. The door is open until at least 10:30pm I think, we got back very late that night, about 11:30pm.

The place is located a very short walk from the seaside. There in a restaurant at the hotel ,well there are plenty of pubs to go for a meal if you fancy something different. Guys at the reception were very helpful (I was with 2 kids young age and staff helped me without even asking for it-Thank you,guys). We had room 28 ,breakfast included. Room by itself was really nice organised with enough towels and body/hair products. Breakfast was really nice . Easy to check in and check our. Staff always at the reception. It's not one of the most expensive hotels, and of course, we didn't expect to have stuff like at 5 stars ✨️ Would be good if that place was a bit upgraded,but for the price, it was not bad.

There are always plus and minus in something, but I believe more cleaners should be employed

We recently stayed at The Schooner Hotel and had such a fantastic experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming – nothing was too much trouble, and they truly went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable throughout our stay. The hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment, but that didn’t take away from the experience at all. Everything was still clean, cozy, and full of charm. It’s clear that exciting improvements are on the way, and we can’t wait to see the changes next time we visit! Couldn’t recommend The Schooner Hotel enough – amazing service, great atmosphere, and genuinely lovely people running it. We’ll definitely be back!

Comfy bed. Lovely dining areas. Nice key card handle lock.

Would have liked hotter water & heating, brighter ceiling light bulb, bedside table and lamp both sides and also a plug socket, mirror over dressing table and a sink that held the water without soaking you when tap turned on full. Would have found a guest soap on sink more useful than sachets of shower gel & shampoo. Also a toilet roll holder at side of toilet would have been appreciated for ease. Didn’t like broken lamp by bed so close to face or hangers/shoe rack next to bed. Lots of mirrors but in wrong places and none full-length. Better fire evacuation info required - where is nearest exit from room? Where is assembly point? Better info provided regarding breakfast options in advance and where to go. Cooked breakfast could be improved - bacon too well done, unusually small portions.

This is a very old building so don't go expecting 5 star service and facilities . Outside sitting area is lovely though. The staff were nice . Although you will have to do your own research regarding the haunted rooms and history of the building. Our room and bathroom were very clean. View from our window was old brick outhouse area, totally not a problem. Cons.. bar area very expensive. No onsite parking but we found somewhere on the street or side street.

A hotel steeped in history with a lot of charm and character. Staff were helpful and friendly. Room clean and comfortable. Bathroom in modern style, clean and fresh looking. Didn’t access the restaurant but it looked clean and tidy. Bar nice and comfortable. WIFI worked perfectly well. Listed building with a mixture of modern and old fashion features.

The TV didn’t work properly as it couldn’t tune into the channels. Not to worry if I want to watch TV I might just as well stay at home.
