The property was in a great location, close to shops, places to eat and pubs. The room was very comfortable, clean and had all the necessary facilities. There were extras in the room fridge like water, jam, juice there were even 2 choc au pan. we were on the top floor I could see the top of the castle from the bedroom window.

There are a lot of stairs to the top, if you struggle with mobility ask for a lower floor.

Room was good value for money. Staff were lovely and helpful. Food was amazing.

No designated parking, but town centre location is hard to have that.

Great location in the heart of Alnwick, can walk to the castle, market square, and all around the town. The room was basic but did the job. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. There has been a big fire in the kitchen so we did not get breakfast but they had left some packets of croissants/jam in the room, which was appreciated.

Shower very small and on the second floor, very steep staircases - be prepared! WiFi not good on top floor.

A very disappointing room, actually more of a cupboard, without a window we were charged the same price as the rooms with windows would have changed venues but was a bank holiday Sunday evening so they had us by the short and curlies!!! worse still was the lack of teabags left in the room

We originally booked the Market Tavern as they had a lovely restaurant, serving fantastic food, and the staff were also great. We had eaten there several times when visiting Alnwick, so decided to book our stay there on this trip for those reasons and the added convenience of having the pub on site as well, as we were only staying one night. What we were not advised when we booked in March was that they had a serious fire in the kitchen the previous month and the restaurant was closed ufn.

We only found out about the fire by pure chance, just by Googling the menu, and there was a note to say the kitchen and restaurant would be closed ufn but the pub would be running normally.. We don't know if Booking.com were made aware of the fire or not or if the Market Tavern had neglected to inform them but we were really disappointed as this was the main reason we made the choice to stay there. However, we decided just to book dinner elsewhere but were looking forward, after returning back from a long walk along some of the beautiful local beaches, to having a few drinks in the bar, getting ready to go out for dinner and later coming back to the bar for a nightcap. We had travelled up from Manchester on the Saturday morning and received a call at 4pm that afternoon from a woman in the pub saying she was closing the bar as they'd been so quiet and therefore wanting to know what time we'd be arriving in order that we could ring a number when we got there so somebody could let us in! So not only was the restaurant closed but then the pub! In terms of the accommodation, the only positive thing I can say is that our room was very clean. Other than that, it was shabby, out of date and extremely basic. The bathroom was tiny, the shower was awful, no water pressure, just a trickle of water and mould around the base of the shower tray. I didn't expect 5 star accommodation in a pub with rooms, but this was positively depressing and we were just relieved it was only for the one night. So basically our stay in a lovely pub with a fabulous restaurant was neither of those things. We would never stay there again, even when they re-open as normal. The entrance to the accommodation was grubby looking and tired with a dirty stair carpet up to the rooms. They really should not have been selling the rooms when there were no onsite facilities or at least some mention should have been made at the time of booking.
