This place was quintessentially unique, full of character, fantastic staff, and even though it was close to the A1, you felt like you were a million miles away, so tranquil and relaxing, the rooms were all different in their own way, breakfast was lovely, very welcoming owners, and the grounds feel like you've stepped back in time - amazing place, the communal lounge with wood burner encourages you to make new friends or just relax in your own thoughts

One very small critique - the sign for West Cawledge where Alnwick lodge is - the turning becomes more than slightly obscured on a night, especially in the rain - you might end up going past and having to U Turn - perhaps better lighting on the entrance and turning would assist

Great location, very close to Alnwick, and Almouth, and coastal routes; lovely and friendly staff, very helpful and give great travel tips; the room I had was gorgeous and spacious, was amazing value.. generally the place is quirky, a beautifully and lovingly remodelled old farm house with many old features retained; breakfast is excellent in the old stables, a colourful gift shop, a fridge to use, beautiful courtyard with lots of flowers and green where people can sit, family friendly; plenty of space for parking; just a great place to be for several days! I would definitely come again..

just very minor things; the closeness to the A1 caused permanent noise but didn't disrupt sleep; the room I was in only one small window could be opened, when I was there it was unusually hot and sunny and the room heated up during the day, cooling it down was tricky.. but really, small things!

Location is brilliant if, like us you have an onward journey to Scotland,it is directly off the A1. Our room was beautifully clean, bed comfy and chairs to sit in too. We were upstairs from reception, which is in a very large lounge, with comfy sofas & a lovely log fire, so after we’d been out for food we sat in there. Wonderful! The hosts Evelyn & Peter are delightful. The breakfast was very good, & served swiftly. The whole building is an absolute delight, very quirky & stuffed with antiques, some for sale in their shop.

Nothing to dislike.

Alnwick Lodge is a lovely, traditionally furnished, comfortable place to stay. Throughout our stay, we kept noticing new items of interest. Evelyn and her team were most attentive to our needs and had great suggestions of how to enjoy their beautiful county. We were in The Dovecote, and even the shutters on the windows were interesting to see. The room and ensuite were spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good and served in the dining room, which was very "Downton Abbey." We joked with other guests that we expected Mr Carson to walk in at any moment. The table settings were quite charming. The courtyard was a welcoming and peaceful area to sit. There is plenty of spacous parking. Finally, my husband and I can't thank Evelyn enough, as my husband was admitted to hospital on our last night. (he is well on the road to recovery) Evelyn was a calming and comforting friend and helped me so much. Even speaking to our son on the phone and relaying messages to me. She postponed her own plans the next day so that she could ferry me around. Then, on learning it was our wedding anniversary gifted us two mugs from her little gallery. As well as a heart felt, Get well note for my hubby. So very, very kind. We will go back not only because of her help and the accommodation but also because we need to visit the Antiques, which we are very inquisitive about. Once again Thank You Evelyn and everyone at Alnwick Lodge. You couldn't have done any more for us. I wish you all well for the future.

Nothing to dislike.

We had a two night stay with breakfast. The lodge is beautiful, full of lovely things to look at, a gorgeous courtyard full of flowers. The whole place was enchanting. Warm and friendly greeting and owners and staff at breakfast were fabulous. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room cosy and clean. We loved it and just a quick drive to Alnwick town and castle.

We were very happy with everything, it’s hard to find anything we didn’t like. There are three large tables that seat 6-8 people at breakfast which some people might not be used to but it didn’t bother us.

Beautiful courtyard to sit out in. The plants are stunning and well looked after. A wood fire was lot every evening in the living room for anyone who wanted to sit in there which I did one evening. Very accommodating staff who couldn't do enough for you and would always give recommendations for places to visit.

My room was a little old fashioned and the bedding didn't fit the bed properly so I'm lucky I don't move much at night or they would have been pointless. I did go and buy a new hairdryer as the one provided wasn't great.

What a gem of a place. I loved how different it was to stay here, rather than at a large hotel/pub. Out hosts were welcoming and helpful. It was lovely to sit in the communal 'lounge' area, with its comfy settees and warming log burner. Breakfast was served at large tables, encouraging guests to sit and chat. A lot of thought has been put into how the rooms have been decorated, with many handmade items - just lovely.

The only problem we had was with the toilet flush, but that didn't spoil our stay 🙂

We really liked the place, it has a real character and charm. The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and the service was great. We enjoyed the communal set up for it, it was nice to chat with people staying at the lodge. Location was convenient, it is next to the A1 but we didn’t hear it in our room. If you are exploring the area, a good place to stay.

We believe the room was serviced but not sure. Not enough toilet paper. Luckily we brought our own with us. Not a big issue but unpleasant if you get caught out.

I came with my daughter to do the mighty hikes for McMillan. The property is very quirky. Just how I like it. Beautiful garden and rooms. Staff are friendly and chat with you. Communal log fire. Comfy chairs. Like stepping into a county manor. Breakfast was beautiful with home made bread and marmalade as well as a cooked breakfast. There are beautiful items for sale so I stocked up on Christmas gifts.

It’s just off a main road so no walking routes, but this wasn’t an issue for me.

I slept very well here. I think that’s because it has a nice relaxed vibe. Felt like I was at home (in a good way) and I genuinely woke up briefly thinking I was :D It’s quirky but not the contrived designer type quirky, it’s the real deal. Reminds me of when I had to renovate my first home and got a lot of my stuff from a reclamation yard, I repurposed bit’s n bobs for this n that. It feels a bit cobbled together in the very best possible way. Loved that. If you’re someone who like’s scrupulously scrubbed boutique style hotel accommodation this isn’t going to be for you. If you like to feel you’re staying with relatives, you know the good ones that you enjoyed staying with when you were a kid, then you will probably enjoy this. Good location. Set at approximately the right price point. Would have liked to stay longer and would stay here again.

The pillows were flat and fairly hard. Time for some replacements.
