Where to start. We stayed at The Bridges for five nights and it was simply lovely. Lesley and Steve were very warm and welcoming from when we arrived to leaving, they really looked after us, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was immaculate, comfortable and quiet. We had fresh bedding and towels provided every day. The room was decorated beautifully and the bed was very comfortable. There was a lot of attention to detail, little chocolates left on the bedside tables and interesting tea varieties, there was a handy little jar in the bathroom with cotton buds etc, etc. My partner has lactose intolerance and he was provided with lactose-free milk every day. We were served a selection of a fresh cooked breakfast along with freshly brewed coffee, fruit, yoghurt, toast and homemade jams. Everything was just wonderful. Lesley and Steve are some of the loveliest hosts we've met and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. On the last few mornings we were surprised with a special treat of "overnight oats" for breakfast. Steve and Lesley were also extremely knowledgeable of the area and its history and were very helpful with suggestions of places to go see and where to eat. There are plenty of lovely restaurants and places in nearby Amble and there is a lovely pub restaurant in Widdrington. We were never short of places to go and visit. The castles and beaches are stunning but we now know how lucky we are to have found The Bridges as our chosen place to stay. As well as parking at the rear, just a few minutes walk away, there are several bus routes in different directions which was an added bonus. It is situated in a very quiet area and was perfect for accessing the places we visited. I would highly recommend staying at The Bridges B&B and would recommend at least 3 nights here to explore especially if you haven't been before.

The Bridges B&B was very clean and our room was lovely. Lesley and Steve couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Lesley even ironed my dress and filled an ice bucket for my wine! The breakfast was also delicious with a good selection. Bed was very comfy and room was well stocked with different teas (including herbal) and coffee and even some biscuits.
The only downside was the location. Broomhill is a bit out of the way, it's a very quiet village. We did however venture to Amble which is about 3 miles away and our hosts kindly advised us of an hrly bus service and the bus stop was just around the corner.

Very friendly owners Lesley and Steve, who couldn’t do enough for us. Great location in a small village, but central for sightseeing in the area. It was very quiet. Excellent breakfast, freshly cooked. Very clean and many little extras provided. Bottles of water daily and a chocolate by the side of the bed was a lovely touch. A small area at the front to sit and enjoy the beautiful flowers in lots of tubs.
The bed was rather creaky but we were advised that the room was to be refurbished later in the year, so hopefully that will be sorted out.

The B&B was spotless and well looked after, with a really cosy and comfortable feel throughout. The owner was absolutely lovely – so welcoming, down to earth, and genuinely easy to talk to. She went out of her way to make me feel at home and was incredibly friendly from the moment I arrived. What really stood out though was her cooking – the breakfast was absolutely spot on, one of the best I’ve had on my cycling trips! Big thanks from the cyclist who pedalled all the way from Edinburgh back to Durham – this was the perfect stop along the way.”

We were given a very warm welcome by Lesley and Steve. Our room with king-size bed was lovely, quiet, very clean and the bed very comfortable. We had exclusive use of a large bathroom. Lesley had provided many thoughtful additions to our room such as a good selection of teas, bedside chocolates, and dressing gowns to use. We had an excellent choice for breakfast, including continental and cooked breakfast and everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The décor was cheerful and welcoming. Last of all, the location was perfect to visit Amble, Warkworth, Alnwick, Alnmouth and - if we had been staying longer - many other beautiful places in Northumberland.
An en-suite bathroom with the king bedroom might have been a plus, but we noted that there is also a double room with en-suite available.

We loved the breakfast, which Lesley made for us and which came from the heart. (full English breakfast, fresh fruits, various types of cereals and Müsli, poched eggs, baguettes. toast, types of jams and even vegan bread spread - they took care of all our diatary needs - vegetarian and lactose free) The rooms was lovely and romantic and we even got new bottles of water and chocolates every day. Location: ideal for exploring the North of England, like Lidisfarne, Bamburgh Castle, Whitby Abbey and Hadrian's Wall, yet quite enough that you can sleep with an open window.
Private parking behind the house was narrow, but also possible in front of the house

This was an excellent place to break our journey for the night. Steve and Leslie greeted us on arrival and gave us recommendations for dinner nearby. The room was beautifully decorated and the bed extremely comfortable. It's nice and quiet at night. There is an en suite bathroom, and the hosts provided tea, coffee and biscuits in the room. Everything has been thought of for a comfortable stay. A cooked breakfast is included and it was absolutely delicious.
Nothing.

The room was large and very comfortable. Though we had to contend with the stairs, it was a fabulous room. The bed was large and very comfortable. The breakfast was made to order. Steve was sublime in the kitchen. He also gave us great tips on attractions. Durham was beautiful. The castles in Northumberland are plentiful, making it difficult to choose which one to see, but Steve steered us in the right direction.
We used 'maps me' because we didn't have data and had to rely on wifi when we stopped at venues like pubs or cafés. So we didn't get the email with exact directions to the place. 'Maps me' and bookings.com had the wrong address. It was Togston road not court. The lady at the address given was very obliging and directed us which was actually around the corner. The sign out the front was clearly visible.

Breakfast was perfect. Lovely full English with cereals and toast as required. Bed was very comfy, I had a lovely nights sleep with a view of the stars in the roof window, room was clean and comfortable with nice view of the countryside. Tea, coffee and a few biscuits for your stay.
Nothing major just some hints for those who are staying here. I had the penthouse / loft conversion and although lovely, due to my size (I'm a 6 footer) I kept banging my head on the ceiling coming down the stairs. There are no bedside plugs or toothbrush / razor charging point, so charge up before you arrive and take an extension cable if you want to use your phone for alarm or clock.

We liked the comfortable bed, which was a proper double. The bathroom is ensuite and spacious, accessed by climbing a couple of steps up inside the bedroom which gives a sense of separation. Some extra touches for a comfortable stay including toiletries and plug sockets by the headboard. Breakfast was excellent, and the community aspect of a main table was enjoyable. Easy on pavement parking directly outside the property. Quiet location, but a good stopping point for further travels.
