Excellent breakfast, and evening meal. Well equipped and spacious room. Helpful and pleasant staff.

Approach on foot - very busy road to cross at peak times. Good shower but shower curtain throw back to the last century- plenty of space for a glass screen.

We loved the cosy feel of the pub, breakfast and evening meals were a bit different to the normal pub offerings and delicious served by very attentive staff. We loved the little touches like a radio, alarm clock, fresh milk, really nice Room.

I'm just being picky.... For myself I would have preferred a room inside the pub and not a chalet outside in the carpark but that's my fault for not checking and as I said the rooms are lovely. Also I would have liked to have my evening meal at the hotel on Sunday but unfortunately the meals are finished at 6pm which is a bit early when you are out for the day in Bath. It just meant that I had to go elsewhere but I fully understand if there is no demand.

Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful and were even able to check me into my room 2.5 hours early. The pub had a great traditional 'pub' atmosphere but without feeling dated. The food was delicious and there was a good amount of options. It had a sizeable outside seating area as well to enjoy the surrounding countryside views. The room was better than I thought it might be - a large, up-to-date room across the car park in its own building. It was very clean and had a recently refurbished bathroom. The hot shower after a week's hiking was amazing.

The only negative was the flushing mechanism of the toilet in the rooms, which are buttons on the wall that you need to push. They were very temperamental to the point that I told the staff I thought it was broken! I was told I just needed to keep trying and eventually they would work. A bit odd as the rest of the room and stay was perfect, but overall it was only a minor issue.

The small details made this place all the more lovely. The rooms are a good standard and well decorated and upkept, very cosy and warm. A good size too. Bathrooms are fresh and modern. But the details were exceptional for the pub/inn accommodation this host offers .. I was offered fresh milk to take to my room upon check-in and given it in a small thermos. I was actually shown to my room.. There was a lovely tea and coffee selection, bottled water, biscotti x 4, I felt like nothing was held back, even a calming scented spray for the pillows! The bed was very comfy and pillows to boot. Bar was very comfortable for a solo female and my dog, staff were amazingly helpful and polite. Food a bit hit and miss, had a wonderful brocoli, bean and grain salad with mint and feta, fresh and lively. Unfortunately I could not say the same for the risotto, very disappointed at its dry, cloying state. Breakfast was good quality but I wish chefs would not throw most items in the fryer, it's not a good cheat. The sour dough bread was gorgeous and so was the local farm butter. I would stay again for sure and pick from the menu more carefully

The rooms were so cute, it was homely. Lots of little extras like fresh coffee and nice tea, plus they give you fresh milk (oat milk is what we had). We had food both nights, it was good, and good selection of beers on tap. Breakfast was great too, nice selection of options (fry ups, eggs, salmon, avos, pastries) plus tea, coffee and OJ! The staff are super nice and friendly, and it's very welcoming.

Only small but the veggie breakfast didn't need spinach, it leaves water on the plate! Haha, although I can't speak for everyone. Another only small thing is the pub is SO busy all the time. It was Friday and Saturday to be fair, but it feels hectic, I think it's cos the staff rush around alot (again not their fault) but it does make the atmosphere not as relaxing as it could be.

The room was comfortable and clean with good bathroom facilities. We didn’t take dinner as we had attended a celebration lunch elsewhere earlier in the day but we did have a drink in the bar which was pretty full and had a good atmosphere. The food we saw being delivered to other tables looked good. Had a good night’s sleep. There was a little road noise from time to time but it didn’t bother us. We did notice that complementary ear plugs were provided but we did not need them.

Did an electronic check-in before arrival so was a little disconcerted when at first they couldn’t find our booking. However that was due to a mix up with names and was quickly sorted out. Charming lady showed us to our room and kindly carried my heavy bag.

Very handy for M4 . Nice food - nice room part of an independent block at rear of property- nice shower - comfy bed ( but my wife thought a " bit soft") - nice breakfast - what else do you need ? Also better parking at rear of property when you arrive. When leaving we were recommended to do a loop around the village back to the M4 which was very easy & avoided crossing the busy road.

The inn borders a busy road - with consistent traffic - we were aware of this in background noise but you should be aware if you are a light sleeper - ear plugs are provided..........

Each room needed a second chair. One guest had a chair while the other had sit or lay on the bed. The WiFi appeared to drop your connection if you were inactive for a few moments and required an automatic sign in procedure that took so,e time. That’s ok once or twice but over the stay it probably happened 20 times. I think you should offer an open connection for the length of your stay. Biscuits provided were those terrible,dry ,rock hard Italian biscotti type. I think a good hobnob type or a single wrapped twix would be more welcome..

The member of the team that initially greeted us and checked us in was engaging and helpful. The room was smaller than expected, but the size of the room at the previous accommodation had spoiled us somewhat. The bed was two singles attached to each other, making a good-sized bed. There were tea/coffee making facilities in the room and a separate chair and desk. Amply sized. The ensuite was reasonably sized and it was all very clean. The bar/restaurant was fairly busy with bookings, which is a good sign. The staff were busy but efficient and effective. The food was the Butcombe Inns menu. Choice, and well prepared and presented once again. The bed was comfortable and provided a sound night's sleep. Breakfast was served from 08:00. There was a good choice again and the member of staff taking care of everyone was courteous, very pleasant and helpful.

The unfortunate coincidence that this was another Butcombe Inns pub (like the pub for the previous night's stay). Nothing wrong with it but the menu was the same which was a pity for us 😕

Very beautifully furnished rooms in cottage style, cozy and with a lot of attention to detail. Rooms in separate wing, therefore allowing quietness. The pub is among the most beautiful ones we have seen in Great Britain. Very friendly and caring staff with attention to guest’s needs. We felt instantly welcome and loved our stay in this wonderful location. Slightly retracted from the M4 this is an ideal spot to stay! We highly recommend the high standards and friendliness of this beautiful place.

There is nothing that we felt needs improvement.
